There was a full kitchen but we ate at the onsite Country Kitchen Restaurant. Selection of food was very good considering how out of the way the resort is. Rogers chili was great and I have not doubt it could win awards in any chili cookoff. Boats, motors, mountain bikes and atv's are available. A simple "i'll be with you in a minute" would have gone a long way. We weee never given any rules, directions, check out times. The next time we went for breakfast. Although there was food in the serving trays, they made us wait for at least 15 minutes before we could go up for food. By the time we were able to eat, the place was packed. Saturday night we attended a wedding reception. Instead of using a tray, servers brought out 2 plates at a time. With almost 100 people there, our food was cold. The prime rib was very grizzly and tough. Even after requesting steak knives, it could barely be cut. The biggest disappointment and instant turnoff was the owner. When he was questioned about a situation, he became very loud, was pointing his finger in a guests face and was using profanity. His attitude, demeanor, and lack of professionalism was a total disgrace and unbelievable! Never have i experienced something like this!

These little cottages are perfect for a family stay for a week or five (I wish). It's a beautiful spot right in the middle of the Les Cheneaux Islands and you have a beautiful view of the water from inside your cottage and on the deck. There' a boat dock where you are free to keep your boat if you bring one, or you can just fish off the end like some of the little kids have been doing this week. They have a makeshift little beach area with about six plastic Adirondack chairs and I'm telling you, these kids staying here can't get enough of that sand. Right next to that area they have five kayaks ready to go- my cousins and I take full advantage of these every time we stay. Every cottage's deck has some of their own Adirondack chairs which we take from one to the other since we stay in two cottages right next to each other for the week. There's also a charcoal grill at each one which, again, we take full advantage of throughout the week. There's a fire pit off to the side of the cottages which I a great way to spend the evenings. Inside the cottages- fully stocked with dishes, towels, blankets, etc. There's free wifi and cable in each one. Plenty of outlets if you're worried about charging electronics or if you (like my mom) will be working at any point during your stay. The kitchen has a fridge, freezer, stove, oven, and microwave- so everything you could need to make any meal you desire. The owners of this place are incredible. Kirstin an Jason are two of nicest people we've met and they really care about everyone here and making sure you enjoy your stay. They live in a house right on the same property so they're almost always around. Both of them drop in periodically to make sure you're enjoying your time and that there's nothing you need from them. They own the North Coast Company in Hessel now which is an ice cream, fudge, and coffee shop inside the showroom of E.J. Mertaugh Boat Works. This was the first Chris Craft dealership in America, for those of you who enjoy boats. This part of Michigan is simply incredible. It's beautiful and quiet with plenty of outdoor activity going on. You're only a little bit away from Mackinac Island, the Soo Locks in Sault Ste Marie, and Tahquamenon Fall- all excellent day trips during your stay. I would highly recommend staying at Ford's Cottages to anyone. You jut can't go wrong here!

We stayed in a really cool room: massive vaulted ceiling with logs on top. Multiple beds, including a loft bed. However, the beds are a bit firm and older... They did the trick for a quick stay. No complaints. I will also say: We stayed when the majority of the place was booked by a wedding party, who were... let's say, slightly antsy and angry. One gentleman decided the best way to start his day was to bark at us because he didn't like where one of our group parked. We loved the grounds. The dock out back has some of the best small mouth bass fishing we've experienced is decades. We pulled a 4 lb lunker off the lake (catch and release). All the cabins looks like they might be in better shape than the actual lodge, but we didn't see inside them. I'm just saying keep your mind open. It's a cool place and worthy of your stay.
