I have an extrusion (L4-L5) and a knee tear resulting from an auto accident in March. For the last few days I have been in a lot of pain, unable to stand straight, sit or walk without feeling pain. Upon arrival, I was seen fairly immediately. I spent about 30 minutes with Dr. Bones (yes, that's his real name). The doctor was wearing a Superman costume for Halloween today, but it was entirely appropriate as I left the office feeling 80% better than I had when I walked in. I am standing up straight and most of the pain is gone. I have never seen a more immediate and tangible result from a chiropractic adjustment. I was blown away, and I can honestly say this is the day I became a believer in chiropractic. Dr. Bones and his staff were personable and kind. The doctor took the time necessary to evaluate my condition before attempting an adjustment which I really appreciated. There are places on me, particularly my lower back injury, that if touched even lightly, can be excruciatingly painful. Dr. Bones brought the necessary sensitivity to those issues and was extremely careful when working near those areas. It was just a fantastic experience overall. In the local mountains! When I began treatment I could not walk from the bed to the coffee pot without severe pain. I love many things about Summit and the Coeur d'Alene staff. They don't just "crack your back" and send you on your way. They have equipment for warm-up and for after your session. In December 2013, I fell and immediately had severe neck pain. When I say severe pain, I mean I was…read morecrying because of it and I couldn't eat, sleep, work, drive, or do anything but pace back and forth. Soon, I lost feeling and functioning in my right arm and hand. I couldn't pick anything up, couldn't open my front door and the numbness extended from my fingers up past my right elbow. A friend referred my to Dr. Amy and subsequent diagnostic studies revealed advanced degenerative disc disease in my cervical spine and also in my lumbar spine. Dr. Amy sent my X-Rays to an orthopedic surgeon for consultation, which I appreciated; however, that physician thought I was a candidate for Chiropractic. My other alternative was surgery, but I wanted to try the least invasive measure first, so we began chiropractic treatments three times weekly. Within two weeks, my pain had decreased significantly. Within a month I had regained the use of my right hand and arm. Within two months, I was snowshoeing. Within three months, my pain was gone. Within 6 months, I was hiking and had resumed riding my bicycle for an hour. I must explain that I turned 60 years old this year. In retrospect, my cervical spine issues had affected my functioning, activity level and health status for years. But with Dr. Amy's treatment and some significant dietary changes to a "clean" diet, I am feeling and functioning better than I have for years. I recently started swimming a mile three to four times a week. I am still receiving a once weekly treatment at Spoelstra Family Chiropractic, after which I swim. I also walk between 1/2 to 1 mile a day. I have dropped several dress sizes and my resting heart rate is between 56 and 60.
