Dear Value World management at these Ohio locations, for the love of everything, could you please…read morestop cranking the heat so that we have to strip off 2 layers of clothing to shop comfortably? Thank you for your attention to this madness.... Other than that, I really like this thrift store and this is my favorite location. It's only been open for a few years. It's really large and clean. There's always a ton of selection and good deals; value for your money. Plus- they even have a fitting room at this location! It's the little things.... The staff is always helpful and friendly too.

The store was well organized; however they have tags with different colors and where I'm from those colors tend to coordinate with daily sales so I asked a lady who worked there what they meant and she said usually they have daily sales but everything was 50% off today and I even clarified "only holiday stuff?" And she responded the whole store so I was all gongho, filling my hands with shirts and unnecessary holiday decor cuz everything is so cheap, only to get to the register and I hear everyone in line complaining about what the signs posted all over the store states. Apparently last week if you spent $50, they sent you a coupon for 50% off and you would have to know that in order to understand there is no sale whatsoever unless you have that coupon. So why not take the dumb signs down? What a headache for everyone. Also, maybe educate your employees because they also do not understand. Sincerely, a customer who is unimpressed with this experience and probably will skip next time we're in town.

I enjoy shopping at all 3 of the American Cancer Society Discovery Shops, each one has its own…read morepersonality. The Fairview Park shop is a nice combination of clothes and some great bric a brac. Located in a medium sized plaza the Discovery Shop is also medium sized, always clean and well organized and you can find some great finds. Each week they have a 50% off color and the last weekend of the month everything in the store is 50% off. At this store I have found some really good clothes finds, especially on the men's clearance rack where the cost is $1 per item. I have found suit jackets, shirts and pants, while the men's selection is not large, what they have is usually very good and high quality. I have noticed that this store has a much larger selection of women's clothes. The store usually has a nice small selection of dishes, kitchenware and art; they do have some really interesting items up near the register, they often have some pieces from Europe, Asia and Africa. The selection seems to change everytime I have visited, nothing seems to last long at this shop. As an example I found a really nice leather motorcycle bag for under $10. The Fairview Park Discovery Shop is a fun and diverse place to do some thrifting; not the biggest store, but they really do a great job of making sure that they are selling high quality items at great prices. Not the kind of thrift store you are going to spend hours at, but well worth a visit whenever you are in the area to check out what they have. Plus the proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society which is a very worthwhile charity.

I love visiting here. The volunteers are always so friendly and welcoming. Prices are fair. I…read morealways find such great deals. Especially during the 50% off sales during the end of the month.

The other reviews on here are total bullshit. I've never had a bad experience. Been going in for…read moreyears. It's a consignment thrift store not a donation center. Consignment thrift stores are for vintage and gently used items. This lady thoughtfully selects items from people in her community and ensures she gets a fair price for the people who rely on her. When you do her dirty you are not just letting her down, but you are also trying to steal from your community. People should learn how to read before writing a bad review and they should learn to be more respectful before speaking. The other reviews are people trying to haggle a price when she is more than fair and even willing to give deals to buyers if they purchase multiple items. The shop is completely run by one woman who has a life and people shouldn't be shitty about her not being there all the time. It's a treasure trove not eBay or Amazon. It's for people who want to find something special and gently used. And people who want to intentionally support people in THEIR community. I found this Bob Makey jacket and the lady gave me a very fair price. Didn't even know it was bob makey. Just thought it looked nice. She educated me and gave me polite conversation. Maybe if you are going to try and haggle an already fair price you shouldn't expect the lady to be nice. She has a quick way of speaking. Maybe people think it's a little abrupt. She's just sure of herself. She's never rude. Never has been. Never will be. Literal fucking lies from the scum bags trying to get free shit. Cannot believe these inaccurate reviews. Some people just don't appreciate others and try to ruin a good thing.

The Avon Salvation Army Thrift store is a decent thrift store, but it just seems to have lost some…read moreof its allure. Like the other Salvation Army Thrifts in the area they have gone to a pricing system for most clothes and shoes where all items in a category are the same price and there is a single color that is 50% off an on Wednesday all but 1 color are 50% off. This system can work well in offering some good bargains if they are receiving items that are desirable, however that seems to be the issue for this store. for the last couple of visits here I have just not found any items that I was interested in. The racks seem to be a bit under stocked, not a lot of selection especially for a large store such as this. The items that are for sale are not anything special or really desirable. In the past I have found some decent clothing items, recently I haven't even found anything I wanted to try on or research. This store has never been really well stocked with decor items or housewares, but there used to be an occasional special item that would catch my eye; now the selection is limited and not very interesting. The Avon Salvation Army is still good if you are shopping for wardrobe basics and you want to fill out your closet; it is less desirable if you are looking for anything high end or really fashionable. The non-clothing items are just so-so. Of course you may have a much different impression. Worth a visit if you are in the area, but not worth a special trip.
