But the desserts completely sealed the deal for us. The tiramisu was incredible, and the warm chocolate lava cake with vanilla ice cream was one of the best desserts I've had in Italy so far. It's also one of the only places by the marina that stays open later just for drinks, which makes it the perfect late-night spot after dinner. Definitely one of our favorite finds in Ischia so far.

There was a group of about 9 American girls, where Alfonso served as our chef and Italian wine sommelier. We made pistachio ravioli and also had grilled octopus and a few traditional Neapolitan dishes. We had a BLAST! Literally so much fun! After our cooking lesson, we had a wine tasting (great wines from Mt Vesuvius). Also, the decor is beautiful: scenic views of the lake and beautiful interior decor. I hope to return in the summer! The extensive wine collection and American style bar have never failed to meet my very pick demands for drinks, and the bar staff actually knows a thing or two about the drinks and the ingredients they are using which is a refreshing experience. I average 25 euros when I visit, but I am there for at least 3 beers or a few glasses of scotch and a meal so you could visit for less. Accessibility via train is great and gives you the option of leaving the car at home. I highly recommend visiting this nice sleek location on the lake in Lucrino. You will not regret it.

A very relaxed life style. And now that it's summer, everyone from the island is on vacation!!! First off: the boat drops you about 10 mintues walk from here on the beach. You can walk on the very hot feet burning sand or use the tiny walkway: walk past many restaurants and people. This place is tiny inside and tiny outside. But the food smells fantastic. Oh yea: watch out for the cactuses outside!! The rundown ~ island food! Italian food! Everything you would eat in southern italia aka local and minimal seafood menu. Pasta dishes are simple and almost as good as homemade : Italian style of course. Secondis are my favorite since they have various fishes! Our server/owner is pretty cool. Again: this is where Italians vacation! They have no need to speak English. Neither do I :D We got along famously!! They brought our appetizers, pastas and main dishes out as we requested. Love the grilled and fried fish! Fritto misto was tasty! And that gamberi pasta!! The best!! So fresh, so tasty! Grazie voi!!!! It's a little bit cheaper than prices in Sant' Angelo ( where we stayed) but it's comparable to most island prices. Its about 15 -20 euros for pasta dishes and fish can go up to about 80 euros. Our seafood was around 30 euros. Not bad at all. And considering most my Italian family comes from Rome, we LOVE seafood. This was a steal for us! We stayed here for a good 3-4 hours during our lunch which isnt' unusual. Long lunches are part of the fun being back in Italia! Overall, I love this place. I also loved people watching in scorching 90 degrees heat. The beach is literally right below me. We got chairs and umbrellas rented but we didn't bother leaving soon. While L'Antiquario specializes in the shady speakeasy style and variations on classic prohibition cocktails, Platanos is a bit different. The bar space is colorful and hip, and the bartenders are friendly and chatty. We were there fairly early on a Saturday night and the place was dead, but that meant we got to spend some time with the bartenders Giuseppe and Raffaele as they mixed up our drinks. This place is an interesting fusion of a tiki bar and a cocktail bar. It's less about that 60's island fantasy and more like ... modern tropical hip. But the cocktails were solid and the atmosphere was fun. I enjoyed a Canchanchara with Havana Club 7 year, honey spiced syrup and lime. Simple and delicious. I then enjoyed the Ceylon Old Fashioned - which uses Arrak, palm sugar, añejo rum, pineapple bitters and orange curaçao. My partner had their Platanos Daiquiri, which was blended with fresh bananas. All the drinks were good and fairly balanced. The prices are average for a good cocktail bar in Italy and we'd happily come back again.

This was the "splurge" hotel of our 13 day trip. How perfect it was to begin our once in a life time trip at this spectacular hotel. Not only was it beautiful, it was clean, decorated elegantly, and the grounds were impeccable. The views of the coast were breathtaking the ocean was lit with the stars and lights of the boasts that lined the outskirts of the shore. We were immediately upgraded to a suite and our minds were blown away. Every detail was cared for and we never needed to ask for anything. House keeping came twice a day and replenished water, coffee and fresh towels were abundant! The staff was unbelievable. Sabrina and Pascal treated us like family. They were warm, patient, friendly and understood all of our jokes and embraced us with equal humour. They helped with taxi arrangements, reservations, and even suggested restaurants. They were not afraid to give honest opinions of local eateries or activities, and gave us cost effective and time efficient alternatives to our local travel plans. I cannot rate this hotel and its staff high enough and would recommend to any and all who read this review. We are leaving today for Rome and more destinations throughout this beautiful country. We included breakfast in our room and the consensus was it was one of the best, if not the best one ever. Omelettes and pancakes freshly made to order, a wide selection of meats, cheeses, bacon, sausage, sweets, breads and cereals. Not to mention the gorgeous room we diners enjoyed gazing out from onto the Mediterranean and the bay of Naples. Service was exceptional, not only for breakfast but also in the terrace for drinks or dinner, housekeeping and overall everyone we encountered who worked at the hotel. There is an elevator that takes you to the sea where you'll find a private swimming area with chairs and umbrellas plus a small bar serving drinks and light fare. The gardens and pool area are beautiful, grounds are superbly manicured. Every detail is considered, I did not find one thing out of place or lacking in the entire property. We had dinner the last night under the pergola and it was again amazing. Food was very good, but I have to mention there was a couple singing and playing guitar and mandolin serenading the diners with Sorrento style songs, very special. We had turndown service nightly with a chocolate treat left on our nightstand, room freshened with new towels and coffee station replacements. Nice to return to our room after the service. Two bottles of complimentary water left daily and a real feeling of care and attention conveyed by the room staff. We will return.
