I'm very disappointed with the service I received. I chose this shop based on their 5-star reviews, but my experience did not reflect that at all. It took nearly a week for them to even get back to me with a diagnosis, which in hindsight should have been a warning sign. They eventually told me what the issue was and quoted me over $1,000 for the repair. I agreed and signed the contract, trusting their assessment. After getting my car back, everything seemed fine--until less than a week later when the check engine light came back on. I contacted the shop and brought the car back in, only to be told it was now a completely different problem. That doesn't sit right with me. When I brought my car in initially, I expected a thorough and accurate diagnosis of all issues, not something piecemeal that leads to more problems right away. I've taken cars to other mechanics before and have never experienced anything like this. It feels like the original issue may not have been properly diagnosed, and now I'm left questioning the quality and reliability of their work. $1700 FOR DIAGNOSTIC not REPAIR? I had really good experiences there until I wanted my ABS looked at. The Anti-lock breaking system light was on ...after the tire light was on ...after a tire replacement by another company They wound up being unable to fix the tire light or they didn't look very hard when I replaced another tire with them. They said they wanted $1700 for the diagnostic... because they needed to take apart the entire system to find what's wrong My car is nearly 20 years old. I understand expensive repairs at this point - - so long as they don't come up to 20% of a year's worth of car payments. I had an axle replaced by them. But Claude and ChatGPT are telling me this diagnostic should be $100-$200 max (All they're really doing is collecting online data quickly.)And the most expensive repair is about projected to be 800 bucks. But I'm reading that a sensor that needs cleaning could be all that that's wrong. They are so nice here. They seem so professional. But this was so way out of line. I don't know what to say. And believe me I clarified several times with several people that they just wanted $1700 for the diagnostic - - and that was not gonna be taken off the repair. I just feel like I need to warn people that I had to move on. I almost feel like the good service I had there before was a trick. I was so disappointed. I thought I'd find my "home" garage. I used to go to a different korean auto service shop in gardena that my parents recommended, but I did not really feel comfortable, and different things would break down right after fixing my car. So I decided to find another place with good yelp reviews, closer to my house, and boy am I glad that I decided to come here. The moment I (petite asian woman who look fairly young for now) walked in there, Marvin welcomed me in a very friendly and respectful way, and I immediately felt comfortable. He then explained the whole process calmly that was easy to understand. Gave me thorough explanation for what was wrong with my car. They even emailed out pdf with more details including pictures (see attached photo), as well as itemized quote for each equipment/labor service, which were extremely helpful and absolutely reasonable. Cost about $1500 total for all new windshield wipers, washer fluid reservoir, control arms with ball joints, tire alignment, with labor fee and tax included. They inspected and dud what needed to be done. One of the cool things is they text you the progress of the service with pics and or videos. Also got 10% off for checking in. Quite can't yet comment on costs of service since mine was one specific issue and although it did seem expensive but i do understand cause of the labor costs. Something was dragging under the car. I found Blu Automotive on here. It was close so we stopped there without an appointment. The guys at the front counter were friendly and welcoming. They checked the car and found that a part of the car had come loose. They removed the part and are going to order a replacement for the damaged piece right away. Then we can schedule an appointment to have the new part installed. We were in and out in about 30 minutes. The best thing is that helped us at no cost. I highly recommend this shop. My car was overheating. I made an appointment online and they called me right away to get my car in the shop. Luis was great by explaining to me what was going to happened and what to expect. Long story short Luis and his team started working on my car right away and gave me the diagnosis right away . He recommended a few things and he make sure my car was 100% diagnosed before any recommendations. I have an extended warranty for my car so he also called my insurance to cover some of the cost for some of my car issues . My experience with BLU AUTOMOTIVE. Not too long ago, I considered buying a new car. At the time, the country along with the auto industry were preparing for a transition from polluting gasoline combustion engines to the electric cars/hybrids. Also, advanced technology came to new cars making them safer to drive. But that all changed when Donald Trump became president of the United States. So, I abandoned my new car search and returned to Plan A: Making my 1995 Nisson Sentra outlast me to avoid a car payment in retirement. I'd already run the numbers and found this goal feasible. All I needed to do was to find a reputable local auto repair company with talented mechanics that had figured out how to repair autos at a reasonable price. The latter seemed daunting. Then, I found BLU AUTOMOTIVE in Harbor City. The first time I took my car to them, they did what they said they'd do, delivered on time, and within my budget (and their estimate). Clean shop, nice people. Then, came my second visit. I had a list of big and small things that needed doing. But I had to be realistic and decided to ask them to bid on just a couple of things, but I still shared my overall list. My plan was not to turn my 30-year-old car into a new vehicle, but to do what's realistic to maintain the car while protecting my investment and safety. I reviewed all this with a kind and knowledgeable gentleman named Marvin Bolanos. It's always a challenge to decide what's important to do and what I can let slide for a while--the repair shop can help with this or just do the minimum. Marvin listened carefully, gave me an estimate and said he'd investigate the other things on my list. Parts are often a problem with old cars and I'd had my share of issues with Nisson (kept mailing me repair promotions, but couldn't deliver because they no longer made a part I needed and/or knew where to find it, but were afraid that working on an old car might be risky if in the process they broke a part they could not find). Marvin, on the other hand, said he'd research it and found what I needed. I also had them do a multi-point assessment of the vehicle to make sure I was paying attention to the right things. The item at the top of my list was not very practical, but I felt I needed to occasionally splurge to maintain my interest in the car. So, besides changing oil and rotating tires I'd have them fix my long ignored broken air conditioning system so I could breeze through summer. Marvin stayed within my budget, fixed my AC, and handled the regular maintenance. However, without further discussion, he also fixed some of the little things on my list, as well as some things that were not on my list. You know, the irritating stuff. The weather stripping on the driver's side door was hanging off it. He glued it back on. The plastic part of the door that holds the electric window controls and door-lock switch was coming lose and I hadn't figured how to secure them. But Marvin knew how and fixed it. And it didn't stop there. It seemed that as he serviced my vehicle, if he came across something that he could fix, he took the time to do it. What a treat it was to find these little things fixed as I drove home. It made me feel like the trust I'd placed in them to do a good repair job, on-time and within budget was well placed. And the quality of their service remained consistent with my previous visit. To my great surprise and appreciation, I believe I've found the repair shop that will help me avoid a new car payment in retirement. A reliable partner in achieving my goal. So rare. Looking for a dependable mechanic is so hard, especially being a female. My car started doing a weird shaky thing, and hesitated when I pushed on the gas. I was told the day before from another auto shop, that the shaking and low power was transmission-related, but having had my transmission replaced 3.5yrs ago, that just didn't sound right. I did a yelp search and found Blu Automotive near my job. I pulled up, parked, entered the lobby and was greeted by Marvin. He was very friendly, very professional and all my worries faded away almost instantly. I asked him to look at the check engine codes... and he explained what a diagnostic check would entail.
