Ok so I've read some reviews about this salon and I had to go check it out myself. I had some time to waste one afternoon and thought I would stop in and get a mani and pedi. I was accommodated right away, no wait and taken into the nail room. Yeah it was a little small but it was nice to have the privacy and just the one on one attention and conversation with and english speaking nail technician. She did an awesome job on my nails and I watched how precise and clean she was. Everything she used on me was brand new taken out of a wrapper or box and she had all her nail clippers and metal utensils in sanitizer (which I always look for before anyone goes touching and cleaning my feet and hands.) The nail color selection was not the widest but yet had pretty much every color and it wasn't so hard to choose from, but if you have a particular polish you like I would suggest bringing your own. I was very suprised they had the new shellac nail polishes to choose from, which I thought was great for people who like that option. I actually broke down and paid a little extra to get th shellac because I heard great things about it. So far so good, my polish hasn't chipped yet:) So all in all I would say this is a great option for a nail place if your looking to relax and be pampered. But if your looking for a quick, rushed, in and out place then continue going to a regular nail salon. Oh and did I mention this salon does hair too! I don't know why some of the other reviewers gave this salon such bad reviews. I had a wonderful experience here at Blowouts salon. I purchased the groupon for the $29 mani/pedi. My nail tech Darlene was wonderful! Love her, she does such great work! She greeted me with a smile and offered me a refreshment. They have really great coffee too! She started off with my manicure which was great because by the time my pedi was done my nails were dry. She performed a very professional, meticulous mani with a very relaxing hand massage. My pedicure was just as great. She did a really cute flower design on my toes. I like the fact that they use disposable pedicure liners for there foot baths. So you have no reason to worry about getting an infection (unlike some of the Asian places that are dirty upon sight). One thing I noticed the other reviewers saying that the pedicure chairs or the bowls they used were unprofessional. Well, this is not a nail salon per say. It's a nail department within a hair salon. They're not going to have everything that a nail salon has. They didn't have the big pedicure chairs, but the service out weighed that. It wasn't about the big spa chair, it was about getting the relaxing massage and great service which I got. And another thing, It was also nice to be able walk into a salon/nail salon where the person actually speaks and understands english. read more

I have to admit, when I first arrived I was a little skeptical from the outside of the salon. It didn't look like to much. But when I walked in, I was pleasantly surprised. This small but cute boutique is a diamond in the rough. The place was small but cozy with inviting paint colors and sleek decorations. It was very tasteful. The receptionist was very friendly and welcoming and even offered to hang my coat and something to drink. Can't say that about your typical nail salon. My nail tech was very friendly and did an awesome job on both my nails and feet! She did my nails by hand (no machines) and I think the part that amazed me the most was the pedicure service. This salon doen't have the high tech chairs, which, if you think about it, is a sess-pool of germs and bacteria that they're washing your feet in. They use disposable pedicure bowls, which is very clever....and sanitary. For the deal that I got off of Groupon and the work that my nail tech did, I can honestly say that I got way more than what I paid. This salon is trendy, upscale and very clean. All the Stylists are very customer service oriented from taking your coat to offering you refreshments when you check in. For my experience I had my hair done with Valerie. This appointment was a referral from a co-worker who is a client of the salon. I was looking for a new salon and decided to try them out. I got to my appointment a little early and was quite surprised that my stylist was on time and actually able to service me early. I say this because most salons you have to wait forever.. But not here. I was greeted by the stylist who was very nice and extremely knowledgeable about haircare and all about answering my questions and delivering my desire. I was extremely satisfied with the professionalism, the lightweight feel of my hair and just the overall look at the end of the service. Oh and did I mention that the service was fast and efficient? I was in and out in no time for a shampoo, blowout and trim. I'm used to being in the salon all day, so this was quite a shock. I Don't Understand What The Other People Were Talking About With The Groupons Because First Of All Blowouts Is A HAIR SALON Not A Nail Salon So Maybe That's Why They're Salty About That I'm Not Sure. But I'm Pretty Sure That Any Other Nail Salon Put Your Feet Back In The Dirty Water, Compared To Other Nail Salons They Aren't Very Sanitized Especially With The Foot Jets. They Dont Clean Those Out So You Have Many Bacteria Floating Back In Your Water And Onto Your Feet Which Causes Fungus. Blow Outs Has Changeable Plastic Pedicure Liner, And To Me That's 100% More Sanitary Than The Other Nail Salons. But Overall I Love This Place It's Not Too Many People At One Time It's Nice And Quiet Everyone Is Extremly Nice. And When It's Really Really Hot Outside They Become Life Savers With Offering Water, Coffee Or Tea! But I Guess Other People Are Used To The Ghetto Salons That Are Very Loud Which Makes The Visit Unpleasant. But For Those Who Want Peace And A Nice Relaxing Time To Get Your Nails Or Hair Done I Would Recommend Blow Outs Salon. Great Job Girls! read more

My stylist was Shanda! She was very professional and help give me tips as I am transitioning from relaxed hair to natural. As I am still getting comfortable with my natural hair, she gave me option on what I could do, particular hair styles that will complement my face and overall general style. Options include twists, cut it short and where it natural, and even getting a weave and styling it accordingly. I always ask about 1million questions and she was really good and providing me advice on types of hair products I should consider. As she should, she recommended the products that BlowOuts use regularly including RedKen and how it works with any hair type. I decided, because I am still missing my relaxed look for a short weave style. I am really impressed with results. Hello! August 24, 2013 was the most important day of life; it was my wedding day! I felt like a queen on the inside and I looked like a queen on the outside because Valerie Etienne wouldn't have it any other way. This amazing, talented hair stylist worked her magic after I showed her a picture of what I wanted during a hair trial (we live in CA but we had our wedding in MD). And on the actual day, she repeated the look without fail. My hairstyle was intact the entire day. Not one strand came out of place and I didn't feel weighted down by massive amounts of hair spray. I received compliments about my look all night and my Groom will never forget the way his Bride looked on such special day in both of our lives. Ashley at Blowouts Salon in downtown Silver Spring, MD is marvelous! I saw Ashley for the 1st time in Nov 2011 for a hair cut and color of my natural, curly, African-American hair. I came to Blowouts on the recommendation for hair color by a Caucasian woman I met at Ulta. In the chair I had a mini-OMG moment when I realized, "you are getting your hair CUT based upon the color recommendation of someone of a different ethnicity!!" But ladies - Ashley is the BOMB! She talked to me about my concerns, discussed my dream haircut and advised what would and would not be possible, and then gave me a cut I absolutely LOVE. I joke that I went in as 'Michael Bolton' (grown out semi-shag, oh the shame) and came out with cut & color showcasing 'M-E' (with actual SHEEN on my natural curls!!!) I love Shaunda! She's the best stylist I've ever had. I've gotten so many compliments on my hair in the last 3 months since I've been going to her. I wouldn't think of letting another stylist do my hair. My color has so much dimension I'm just so pleased with the color it's exactly how I wanted it. She gave me blown hair without bleaching me out. Her number one priority is hair integrity and it shows 100% in her work. My hair has grown its shiny and has more elasticity. The other stylists in the salon are very friendly and do amazing work as well. The salon is beautiful! Everything is updated clean and new, it's a very comfortable atmosphere. Did I mention that they have complimentary coffee, flavored teas and water. The receptionist comes around and checks on you while you're under the dryer. I recently moved to the area and was looking for a place to call my own. I hate going to the hair cuttery and getting 'out of the box' service. When they had a deal on dealfind - I quickly bought a voucher and went for my services on Saturday. I. LOVE. THIS. PLACE! The color Toni gave me is INCREDIBLE! The people are so genuine and friendly. The place is clean, convenient and comfortable. I gave Toni a general idea of what I wanted and she listened to me and gave me exactly what I wanted. I have been going to Ashley for over a year now and she is great. I have natural hair and my hair always has lots of body and it always lasts for nearly 3 weeks. Her technique is awesome. My hair is healthier than it has ever been; it has grown significantly since I have been going to her. I am really happy to have found a great stylist in downtown silver spring that does a great blowout on natural hair THAT LASTS. I have gone to a few Dominican hair salons and my hair turned out flat (no body) and damaged at times. I will continue to go to Ashley for years to come. I have been going to this salon for about a year now to get my hair done. And I guess they did do nails at one time, but not since I've been going. But I am very satisfied with my stylist, Ashley, and the work of the other stylists also looks great! Ashley has restored the health of my hair, and she always styles my hair in some of the funkiest styles. I am pretty conservative when it comes to hair, but with the styles that Ashley suggests, I have a whole new look! I love BlowOuts Salon. I would suggest giving them another try. I submitted a review before, but I read some of the other reviews and wanted to follow up. A lot of the reviews were in regards to the manicure/pedicure services. I have not had that at BlowOuts, so I can't speak on the service. But, I can speak on the general customer experience. My appointments have always been timely. The staff are friendly and professional. My stylist (Julia) is fantastic. She gives a great cut and is also very knowledgeable. I LOVE this salon. This has to be the Best salon in the DMV. I have been coming to Shaunda for a year and I have always left with a smile. The service is great, timely, all of the stylist are awesome and the care of your hair needs are individually addressed. These are just a few reasons why I am a Saturday morning regular. Julia! Julia! Julia! I have been lucky enough to be a client of Julia's for several years. She has tamed my crazy, frizzy curls into formal updos, subtle updos, blowouts and braids. Julia is not only skilled at styling, she does EXCELLENT color, cuts and make-up. I tried to fly her to our destination wedding for a week of hair and make-up services, but it was a very last minute wedding to ask her to accommodate. I am a high school student, and I always know to go to Blowouts; senior pictures, prom, birthdays anything. I love what they are able to do with my hair: add volume, make it silky, and smooth, making it look healthier than before. Best part of all it lasts a long time after I get it done. Just wanted to start off by saying that Anne B.'s review might be a little off. The salon is mainly a hair salon so you wouldn't see any nail stations(only the one in the nail room). And I happend to also get a mani on a Sat. afternoon, and the girl did a great job and it only took about 20 mins. The SALON is awwesome!!!!! I have been coming to Julia for 3 1/2 years now and she does an awesome job cutting my hair. I bring my mother as well to get her hair cut and colored by Julia and she always treats us with the best customer service and she gives the best shampoos and scalp massages.
