The jewellery and accessories were especially good; there was a gold bangle watch in there for only £25. Upstairs on the gallery they had a few 1930's fur stoles, mink and fox for between £20 and £40. Cheap as chips, considering! Plus the stuff was all laid out nicely in cabinets. I'm definitely going to come back when I need to buy some presents for people. You could get something really special at a decent price.

There are also clocks, furniture, glass, china, militaria, cameras, tools and all sorts. You could spend quite a while browsing the shop and then visit one of the pubs in the village, there seem to be quite a few. The Bull, The Horns, The Crown - and all these are in walking distance of the shop. If you want a nice Sunday out with a pub lunch, then visit this place. The lay out and the feel of the Flea market are as you would expect, stalls and cabinets dividing up a larger space within a splendid Victorian building. Much like Snooper's Paradise or any other flea market. What I think sets this place apart is the stock they seem to keep and the prices that they sell said stock for. There's a brilliant selection not just of retro tat, but fascinating antiques most of which are on sale for the kind of money that any sensible post graduate with a little flare and taste could afford. The staff seems a little mad too, in a good way, rather than quietly shuffling around as you would expect in a standard antiques shop they talk loudly and whiter away about their social life in a way that makes you feel that you can spend a good hour or so here simply to brows. This works very much to their advantage in my opinion as I now know where to turn for any difficult birthdays or Christmases. If I remember correctly they had Indian, Chinese, Jamaican, Italian and something else. The market itself is quite quirky and if I'm honest a bit of a tourist trap. In the sense that prices don't quite beat other markets such as Camden or Portabello. But I guess it depends what your after. Atmosphere though is fantastic. Especially in the summer, you can sit down with a ice cream or coffee and people spot whilst enjoying some of the free street performances. There is also a band located in the basement which fills the air with familiar classical tunes. In the winter the atmosphere is very different, warm, cosy and bustling.

The Junk Shop is an Aladdin's cave of rubbish/treasure on Greenwich South Street. The stock varies from biographies and historical artifacts (mainly right wing paraphernalia- a Daily Mail series on the modern monarchy, an enormous hardback on the Third Reich and a Thatcher biography) Amongst all the military-themed bits of tat, there are actually some very good finds- there were some cool old 1950s Christmas cards, some 1960s newspapers in excellent condition and some beautiful vintage postcards. It is a funny old place but definitely worth a rummage through.
