By this time I knew that my squash seeds hadn't germinated for me except for one, so I decided to get a set to transplant. The gentleman was helpful, to the point where he was trimming off little wilted bits before selling it to me. My wife picked out more flower seedlings and away we went. I don't know if we will need any more seedlings this growing season, but even if we don't, I will have to remember them when next spring rolls around, as it is always preferable to purchase as locally as possible.

The girls really are talented with flower arranging, and deliver those arrangements to the surrounding areas. In May, Memorial Day orders are taken for urns, baskets, and graveside planting for the cemeteries in the surrounding towns (something I have fond memories of helping with). If that's something you like to do yourself, there is a large selection of annuals and perennials, as well as ornamental, fruit, and other trees. The greenhouses also offer succulent plans and ferns, vines, and ivy. With a wealth of knowledge handed down through generations, the friendly staff are eager and able to answer any of your gardening questions. They also have a fairly active Facebook page!

Since I wanted to ensure they were fresh flowers, delivered in a vase, to arrive on the day of his surgery, I decided to order in advance directly from a local florist versus the 1-800 online option. I found Augusta Florist and ordered on their website. Unfortunately for my coworker, the surgery got postponed, TWICE! Fortunately for me, I ordered directly from Augusta Florist and was able to call them both times and request a cancelation. They refunded me the entire amount both times, without hesitation! The third surgery date actually happened! My coworker got his surgery! But I forgot to order the flowers!! I had been so busy/caught up with work that it just slipped my mind. The day I realized it (this past Monday), I went online and ordered right away. If you order by 1pm, Augusta Florist can deliver same day. Add to that, the arrangement was even more lovely than the photo on the site, and it's an easy all-star review for me. I called in the morning to see if they could make a delivery that afternoon of a somewhat elaborate funeral arrangement. (I should note that it was the week before Christmas, when I know florists are exceptionally busy.) Not only that, we requested a dropoff at a friend's home because the funeral was at a community hall the next morning that did not accept flower deliveries and we'd be arriving too late the evening before to make a pickup. Not only did the floral designer jump on the phone -- unprompted! -- to discuss details of the arrangement, but the driver later called to confirm address info before dropping off. This is really above-and-beyond customer service in my experience of making many such floral orders. (Too many funerals recently but also some happier occasions.) I come from a family of florists, which I did not disclose on the phone, and know that it's rare to get such good help and such a beautiful arrangement. I wish I'd taken a better photo of it to post here. The family of three stoic men took it home after the memorial, the only flowers they made an effort to keep. Thank you for giving them that solace on a very rough day.
