I didn't have $5k to spend on Wedding Photography and most people I looked at were $4k+. Anyone within my budget unfortunately didn't fit the style I was looking for. I used to do wedding photography on the side so I definitely know what I want. I found Vey Gallery and looked at their amazing portfolio and they had the perfect package that fit my needs and satisfied my requirements as far as photography style. I spoke to Melvin (the photographer) on the phone and got a great vibe from him and knew he was perfect for my wedding. He was very prompt with getting to me real fast when I emailed him and scheduled a phone call for us to chat about the packages etc. He was very informative and seems like a fun person to work with. What's also awesome is that I can contact my own photographer via text message if any questions arise etc. I'm a busy person and rely on text for contacting people so being able to communicate with him so easily is definitely a huge plus. I have yet to work with him, since my wedding is still 2.5 months away. But I'm pretty excited and cannot wait. I'll be posting a follow up review after the wedding too ;)

Annie Ray can make anybody look cool…read more Her "photobooth" photography style is edgy and fun, in no small part because of her incredibly likeable personality and the way she eggs on her subjects like some kind of totally cliche French photographer ("Give me more! Give me more!"). Yet her subjects catch her enthusiasm and channel their inner goofball/badass/child/whatever, striking ridiculous poses, making faces they would never otherwise make in public, even taping gross, who-knows-where-this-has-been fake moustaches under their noses to help them get into character. Yet somehow, magically, everyone looks hip and cool and funky and lively in the end product. Or maybe everyone looks totally dorky and ridiculous, but it doesn't matter, because all your friends look that way in their shots, too. Annie Ray is some kind of photographic genius. Everybody wants some of what she's got. Fortunately, she's happy to share. P.S. The photo posted above is NOT one of Annie Ray's shots. Well, partially it's to have a physical memory of the event and the friends we love. But mostly it's cause an Annie Ray photo shoot is like a ride at Six Flags. It's a "weeeeeee" kinda fun where you can be as adventurous and loud and silly as you dare. When the ride is over, most folks get right back in line again. And just like a rollercoaster ride, you can end up with a crazy pic of your adventure. But Annie Ray specifically as a photographer is a joy. She's ebullient, effervescent, energetic, and encouraging which is great when you are working with stoic camera shy boys like my hubby and bff. And she makes ME look good even tho I normally take horrible pictures. I can never get my face to act right (in fact, no telling how many of the 20 or so that she takes she pitches to only post a few on her site....). And she remembers people. Having worked many a Yelp party and working with countless faces, I am amazed that she remembers my name and when she met hubby last event, she was so excited and demanded we take more pictures of just us, encouraging him "Randy love Keri! One of the wedding planning books I read suggested looking for photographers on ppa.com (Professional Photographer's of America), and that's how I came across Austin Imagery's website. I liked what I saw there, but for such an important occasion, I wanted to make sure I did my due diligence before making a final decision, and boy did I! Here is the breakdown of my evaluation: 1. Photography Style: Following the advice of a friend (who wasn't very satisfied with her wedding photos), I asked to see 3 full albums to get a good sense of their photography style. I'm not into special tinting or "artistic" angles. My goal was to be able to look at my wedding album years from now and feel like the photos were timeless. Chris & Yvonne deliver a beautiful, classic style! They captured gorgeous images of the decor, and more importantly, my friends and family members all looked fantastic! 2. Rapport: Following the advice of another friend, I also had my sister (who is local to Austin) and her family meet Chris & Yvonne. It was important to me that my family get along well with both of them, because I think people's moods really show through in photographs. Needless to say, everyone got along great. I can't stress enough how fantastic Chris & Yvonne are to work with. Even my tough-to-please mother loved them both! 3. Customer Service: Chris & Yvonne were always very prompt with their responses and very accommodating throughout. When things got really hectic with my schedule in those last few weeks before the wedding, they were also proactive in reaching out to make sure all of the final details were set. They were also very timely with the delivery of the photos, which were available online well within the estimated time frame they had provided me. I truly cannot imagine having a better experience with wedding photographers and would recommend them to anyone! Research them yourselves. I doubt you'll be disappointed!
