    Harvey's Florist & Greenhouse

Ordered flowers from Harvey's over the phone and had a great experience. The staff was friendly and…read moreeasy to work with, and they put together a beautiful arrangement that looked even better than I expected. The flowers were fresh and lasted about two weeks time. Really appreciate the great service -- I'll definitely be ordering from them again.

I have received many bouquets from Harvey's. They never hold up. Dead in less than a week. After…read morethe last time, I told my boyfriend (who was from out of state) to not purchase anymore bouquets there, even though the shop is local in my area. When I went to the shop to ask why ANOTHER bouquet didnt last, I was questioned and treated rudely. She asked if I had them near a heat source, as if I was an incompentant fool. IM AWARE OF HOW TO CARE FOR A BOUQUET. Penny, the owner, is EXTREMELY RUDE. She offered no compensation whatsoever. Previously, I had purchased a stained glass window hanging, which was not cheap. It began to fade after 9 months so I returned to the shop to ask why. Again, Penny insisted that I must have cleaned it with Windex or when the instructions clearly stated to clean with plain water only, as I had done. Then she proceeded to say that I must have had it hanging where temperatures fluctuate. The conversation went back and forth with me steadily insisting that this was not my fault. It's a window hanging. It should support an environment of slightly changing temperatures, which in reality was not even the case. After much contention and reluctance, she agreed to replace it. It took forever to receive the new one. I have also purchased many mediocre bedding plants as well, mostly for convenience because Harvey's is close to my house. Nothing special, trust me. In addition, Penny has been known to treat her employees HORRIBLY. She had a very sweet and helpful older lady who put together some very lovely outdoor arrangements for me. When this employee was speaking to me about how to care for the arrangements, Penny RUDELY interrupted and ABRUPTLY told her she was needed elsewhere. I felt so bad for this sweet woman. Little did she know, she was the main reason I purchased from that store in the first place. However, The owners' husband Barney is very kind and helpful. Pleasant on the phone as well as when he delivers. Throughout my years of purchasing, he has been nothing less than kind. Frostburgs choices for florists are extremely limited. I'm certain Penny counts on this. However, everything is replaceable, especially when you treat good customers like incompentant morons. PS... one ex-employee told me to steer clear of the roses. They're old and won't last a week. Unfortunately, I found that to be true with almost ALL the flowers from Harveys. My 2 star rating is for the 2 helpful employees... not the business or Penny.
