I found The Mur Salon via a Facebook post promoting the salon. I looked at some of their…read morebefore/after pictures and instantly fell in love with their style. Before making an appointment, I was able to text with my "salonist" aka stylist, Christine, for several days, determining what service would be best, my hair type, etc. Christine sent me some great ideas, and once we determined the type of appointment, I was able to book online very easily. The fact that Christine spent so much time planning with me prior to even booking an appointment really impressed me, and made me very comfortable. Day of the appointment, the location was very easy to find via Google Maps. Plenty of parking. Walking into the salon is a VIBE. It is NOT your typical uptight, white-walled, "put me to sleep" classical music type of salon. The Mur Salon has SO MUCH LIFE to it. Instantly when you walk in, you feel welcomed. It's cozy, and has so much personality. There's a beautiful mural of the star of the show - Murray on one of the walls. The music is dream - very 90's, early 2000's with newer stuff in between. Christine, Dee and other customers that walked in were a blast to talk to. Typically, I like to stay quiet as i'm more on the shy side, but I was so comfortable the atmosphere and Dee and Christine's down to earth attitudes made me feel right at home. Christine did an above and beyond job on my hair - both color and cut. Also, The Mur Salon promotes vegan and cruelty free products, which is way healthier and ethical, and is a huge PLUS. I was previously using box dye at home and burned my hair pretty badly to the point there was barely volume let alone life left. I gave Christine minimal paramaters (e.g. no bangs), and let her role with her professional opinon, so we can get my hair to a point that it looks good and is healthy again. She did a PHENOMENAL job with the color AND cut. My hair has so much life to it now compared to when I walked in. While it's shorter than I'm use to, it was SO needed and it looks fantastic. I am so happy with the quality, friendliness, cleanliness, vibe and professionalism of the Mur Salon, this is now my only salon I will see. The Mur Salon is 35 minutes from my home without traffic, and with traffic can range up to an hour drive, and it is worth every minute of the drive.

She gives a wonderful shampoo that almost puts me to sleep, every time. She works with me to make sure I'm comfortable during the who process of whatever service I'm having done that day. Even though New Haven is quite a drive for me, Rebel really intrigued me and I got a good vibe from Julianne's profile and style. I was thrilled after my first appointment to have finally found my hairdresser!
