I wasn't too hungry and decided on carrot and ginger soup and a salad, but wished I was more hungry because they were offering a great lunch special of beef ribs, French fries and a salad for 13.90 euro! Block House was one of the first steak houses I visited in Nuremberg. The goulash soup was so good that I came back a second time for lunch to have soup and salad. Not bad, was only disappointed that it took 3 attempts to get a medium rare steak that ended up being medium well.

We stopped in for lunch on a Friday afternoon and the service was lovely! I ordered the Sirloin Steak which came with cole slaw, a baked potato with sour cream, and deliciously buttered bread. The location was absolutely perfect as well, with views of the market and the lovely plaza. read more

We love this Block House and our waitress we have on the regular, Sabrina! She is the dictionary photo of customer service. We have even had incidences where she could not be our waitress and she informs the others of what our favorite drinks are and foods. The steaks are some of the best you can find around. All the soups are delicious, salads are very fresh, and all sides are very tasty as well. I highly recommend the gratin potatoes and goulash soup if you like something lighter. The New York City hamburger is an interesting twist on a typical cheeseburger as there is no bread. The garlic bread is a must try a long with this house white wine which is great mix of tart flavor. They do their best to get you seated quickly and if there is a delay, they have offered wine in the past. The Christkindlesmarkt made the restaurant very busy, but they did an exceptional job managing the crowd. We always return back to this restaurant on the regular. This best steak house in town. Service is perfect and waiters are friendly. The steaks are delicious and the other sides in the plates (potato with sour cream and garlic bread) are also super tasty. They're serving salad with different sauces ( tried italian and american, italian is better for my mouth taste). Desserts are fantastic. I tried ice cream and the this chocolate lava cake wirh vanilla icream. They're dipped in berry sauce which is not vey sweet and balances the sweet cake. Great treat for you with a cup a cappucino! We visited 2 times in a week long trip and definetely worth to go there again and again. read more

Got a NY Cheeseburger here and it was definitely solid, along with the fries. It was a nice change of pace from German food and the burger was interesting, no bun, set on a garlic bread piece. read more

We choose this place because is in the heart of the city. And that would be the only advantage which I can find. Extremely slow service even if place is not fully occupied. I choose burger. The water comes out from meat in the plate. For sure it wasn't the best quality meat how was written down in the menu. My husband ordered a steak and was just fine. We didn't ordered any dessert because after waiting long time for the first curse we just dropped idea to eat something more. I'm sure that for this price I could eat better at home. read more

Take note of the tourist trap. Food cold, attention by chef in need of improvement. 25E steak and garlic bread, steak and potato were all cold. Overpriced, under quality and the garlic bread is as cheap as it gets. Not a bad meal for 12-15E but at double the price was a serious let down. You can do better closebuy. Cannot recommend in spite of service and beer being good. Suggest you try elsewhere. read more

This restaurant is the definition of a tourist trap. I would not eat here again, even if it was for free. The service was dreadful and 5 of the 6 steaks we ordered were not cooked properly and had to be sent back to the kitchen. 2 of the 5 came back from the kitchen cooked properly, but they added bread to my plate even when I had informed them from the start I have an allergy. Of the remaining 3 steaks, two of my friends decided to eat them even though they weren't right and 1 friend tried two more times to get a medium steak from the kitchen. It came back with more blood on the plate than before. To add insult to injury, the manager took 30 minutes to come out to discuss the matter with us and was quite rude when he did.
