After the company was purchased (approximately two years ago), the quality of service declined dramatically. We tried to be patient during the transition, expecting that new ownership and employees would eventually settle in. Unfortunately, that never happened. What was once a professional, customer-focused business has become disorganized and frustrating to work with. We experienced repeated mistakes, and a lack of accountability. Instead of receiving the "PROFESSIONAL" guidance we were paying for, we found ourselves dealing with additional fees, penalties, and unnecessary stress. One of the most disappointing aspects was being referred to Paychex. Our experience with that company was equally frustrating, with extremely poor customer service and little confidence that anyone understood our situation or was taking ownership of it. Rather than helping resolve issues, it felt like we were being passed from one company to another while our problems remained unresolved. They probably get referral kickbacks. What concerns me most is the apparent lack of urgency or concern for the consequences their mistakes can have on their clients. When you're hiring tax professionals, you're trusting them with matters that can have serious financial and legal implications. Instead of support and solutions, we felt left to deal with the fallout on our own. Not to mention, steep penalties and fees from the state for their lack of follow through. Why would I not bring in all the correct documents? That would only hurt me in the long run yet this owner insisted it was my fault and I am a liar and refused to take any accountability even though Jackson Hewitt pride himself on quarantine their work so much so that they guarantee they will pay any taxes owed if they make a mistake..
