This little, family run hardware shop has been there forever. They seem to have far more in stock than a massive B&Q, and they're very friendly and will give advice on how to do things. read more

He totally didn't need to do that, I didn't pay him and it didn't go towards any sales. He just did it because... because that's how much he likes pleasing customers I guess! These guys have a large range of items to cater for most DIY needs. Pest control? Carpet? Plunger? Whatever your current need you will find a fair selection of tools to rectify your ailment.

However the shop assistant told me today it was 'company policy' not to allow them, this is spite of the fact that it has never been a problem when the manager or owner was there. If you are a dog owner or dog lover I would advise you not to go here as they now seem to have a very hostile attitude to dogs and their owners.

After a disappointing delivery experience with another company, I decided to contact MP Moran to…read moresupply 4 jumbo bags of grano dust, as I urgently needed the materials on Thursday, 2 January to finish a job by Monday. I contacted the Watford branch by both phone and email, clearly explaining the situation. I specifically asked to be told if delivery was not possible, so I could order elsewhere in time. I was assured that the delivery would be made on the morning of 2 January. Based on that guarantee, I trusted them, organised labour, and planned the works accordingly. By 13:00, it became clear that no delivery was coming. After calling and emailing again, I was then told that delivery would only be possible on Monday, 5 January This caused not only a financial loss due to wasted labour and delays, but also damaged my professional credibility with my client which is far more difficult to recover. Mistakes can happen, but what is frustrating is being given a firm assurance when it clearly could not be met. I'm sharing this experience to hopefully create awareness for other tradespeople who rely on accurate delivery commitments to run their businesses

And for something as normal as a couple of screws, nuts and bolts, I expect that stuff to just be sitting there, so I barged in and started taking a little tour of the back-store (hey, it didn't look like the back store) until the guy behind the counter sternly told me to "knock it off." Apparently you have to ask for every little thing at the counter. Well, it was less efficient than I would have wanted, having to explain everything and decide on size through an interpretor, but I got my bits and pieces pretty fast and was out of there satisfied enough. But I'm sure there's a hardware store out there that lets you get tactile with your parts .. right? Anyway, they did seem to have a large inventory back there and were helpful, so try em out.
