To clarify beforehand, the spa itself is beautiful, relaxing, and the reception staff absolutely pampered my mom and I despite only being there for a pedicure, but the aesthetician who performed my service was less than impressive. My aesthetician was so unpleasant, and my service was by far the most unsanitary spa service I've ever personally experienced. I was with Alyssa. From beginning to end, I was honestly disappointed in the service and experience I received from her. I tried to make casual conversation with her, but it was blatantly obvious that she wasn't interested in upholding a conversation with me, and she seemed to try to rush through my service. When I sat down she immediately forced the lists for essential oils and refreshments into my hands. She was impatient and pushy, and barely gave me enough time to even read over half of the essential oil list before asking me what I wanted. When I asked for a suggestion or what her favourite is, she simply shrugged her shoulders and said, "I don't know." before giving me careless descriptions, which I could have simply read from the description if she'd given me enough time to do so. When the service began, she didn't ask what I preferred, she just immediately started filing my nails. I didn't bother to ask her if I could approve them before she finished as she'd mentioned she'd been working at Bliss for several years now, so I took the risk of putting myself in her hands. Boy, was I WRONG. Each and every toe on BOTH of my feet are filed unevenly. She didn't explain any steps or products, and even when I asked she hardly gave me any information. On top of that, when she switched to my other foot, she tilted her head to the side and her pony tail was dangling over the toes that she had just filed. Her hair was all over my toes. I really don't think I should have to ASK her to move her hair off of my feet - isn't it expected for your hair to be pulled back and out of the way, like the other aestheticians in the room? After the uneven filing, she began scraping and trimming my cuticles, which genuinely HURT at times! There was two separate times where she trimmed too close to the skin around my nails, and one of them I noticed actually started to bleed a little bit. I wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt in case it was just one bad portion of the service, so I didn't say anything - but I wish I had. You could tell Alyssa was a bit lazy. She rushed through the shaping and filing of my feet so the massage lasted a bit longer because of that, but I honestly would prefer her to spend more time on the focal point of the service I paid for. I was hoping she would remove all of the dead skin on my feet, which is one thing about the pedicure I was genuinely looking forward to, and she didn't. Another disappointment. When it came to the paraffin wax, one of the bags of wax was WAY hotter than the other, and it was unpleasant. While she let my feet soak in the wax, she was cleaning and clanking items around. For a something thats supposed to be relaxing, it was off-putting. The other aestheticians did not do any loud cleaning and were much more considerate of volume in the room. The rest of the service continued to disappoint. She used way too much powder to rub on the bottom of my feet after the wax, and there was still lotion, oil, and powder stuck to her hands - and it was obvious. After she applied the polish, she proceeded to spill the "fast drying" polish liquid ALL over my toes and shoes, so my feet were literally sliding around in my sandals as I was walking out, which defeated the purpose of the powder to begin with! She finished at least 5-10 minutes earlier than my mother's aesthetician. By the time I got home, it was clear that the service I received did NOT live up to the price or expectation. There was still flakes of wax stuck to my ankles, the polish she applied is streaky, uneven, and she actually missed several spots on my smaller toes closest to my cuticles. There is not a single toe on my feet that is symmetrical to another in shape or colour. I also asked her to apply a third layer of polish as I noticed the first two were so streaky, and it honestly made it look worse. When I took my shoes off at home, they were covered in baby powder and the "fast drying" liquid. Pleasant. read more
