Victor Shade - Hunter Douglas Silhouette(R) window shading

    Victor Shade

Victor Shade did a letter-perfect job on our solar shade project! They are experienced…read moreprofessionals with a warm, personal touch that gave us exactly what we wanted. And on top of it all--they are dependable, communicative, and easy to get along with. We desired a simple, modern shade solution for a sliding door window on the third floor of our condo--for a room that is drenched in afternoon sun. We wanted to kill the heat, but still let some light in. I met with Scott Segall, the owner/designer/manager, at their shop and we went over options and samples. We decided on a commercial screen roller shade with 3% openness. Scott recommended commercial over residential because of our taste for simplicity, disinterest in the options supplied by residential, and the fact we could save significantly without sacrificing any quality. A win-win! Scott explained that we could do the install ourselves, but for Victor to do the install (which included measuring) would only cost 10% more. It seemed more than worth it to us. Scott set up a measuring appointment and clearly explained the schedule from manufacture to install. The shades were made to order and currently, because of Covid, Scott explained, it could take from 4 to 6 weeks from the time the shades were ordered for them to appear at their shop. Then, an install appointment would be scheduled which would finish up the job roughly a week later. Although we were disappointed at how much time things might take, we so much appreciated Scott's transparency and his refusal to promise something he could not guarantee. The shade ending up arriving on the early side of Scott's estimate and, as promised, it was installed around a week later. Not over yet. . . here's the best part. . . There was a hiccup with the install that Victor Shade went the extra mile to solve for us. We were missing endcaps for the brackets we had been promised--that would cover them and give them a more finished look. This is the kind of thing, that depending on the company, can never get solved. Nope! Scott responded immediately to our concerns and remembered we had discussed this issue. He investigated with the manufacturer and found out that the only solution was to use another kind of roller cover that would allow the proper endcap covers. With no fuss, the manufacturer (and Scott) created these at no extra cost to ourselves--and reinstalled. Wow!! A textbook example of top-drawer customer service. We are so grateful and love our shade!

Finally, I can sleep in darkness! I could not be more pleased with the Hunter Douglas Skylift…read moreSkylight Shades we just had installed in our bedroom by Eye on Design in Belleville. Quite simply, they do much more than block sunlight--they change the entire ambiance of the room. Rather than simply blocking the skylights, these battery-operated shades seem to make them disappear, giving the appearance and feel of a true ceiling, rather than two bright and chilly recessed spaces. The battery-operated blackout shades block the morning sun, and I can finally get those early morning hours of sleep I was craving. Later in the day, when I want the room to be filled with bright daylight, I simply press a button on the remote control, and the shades slide back, revealing the skylights either partially or fully--much like the sunroof of a car. I feel like I'm on the Starship Enterprise watching these two separate shades slide back smoothly in unison. I am SO happy that I didn't go the less expensive route and choose pole-operated shades that would have required daily fussy and fumbling with a long stick. What a letdown those would be compared to these super-fun, super-gadgety Skylift blinds. I can't wait to show them to all my friends. And then install them in my kitchen, too. The enter process, from initial inquiry to final installation, was seamless and pleasant. Remote-controlled skylight shades seem to be a product that is still somewhat obscure, and I called all kinds of companies and chased many dead ends before finding this solution. To say I am happy with them is an understatement. Plus, we get $500 Federal Energy Tax Credit--always a bonus. Everyone on the Eye on Design team has been friendly, professional, accommodating and responsive--Jennaver, Shelly, Steve and the whole crew. I am definitely looking forward to the next project. This could become quite addictive!

The whole process of working with Jennaver and the Eye on Design Drapery, Shutters and Blinds Inc was seamless and filled with "over and above" customer service. Jennaver created several different window treatment system options for us to choose from, and with her great eye for design in general, suggested paint colors and other tips to improve the look of our home. Installation was quick and professional. I will absolutely hire them again, and highly recommend Eye on Design!
