Came here to purchase materials to make a craft project for my nephew who will be graduating high school soon. On the bottom level they had a range of construction paper, cardstock paper, and canvasses. I was also able to grab double-sided tape. This art material store was pretty comprehensive I saw things for all types of projects in here. It is located right in the heart of the theater district so I'm sure a lot of artsy types venture into here. I was coming out of a show and so it was very convenient why had already had parking paid so went ahead and grab my materials. My finished money lei (construction paper and two sided tape) came out very nice. Overall this was a good shopping experience. The store is clean & they have bathrooms for patrons on the second level. I only downgraded this store as I thought the cashiers were kind of pushy about the line. We were standing in line and they asked two of us to get behind some little sign but it was kind of unnecessary as the line wasn't very long. I thoroughly enjoy boundaries and space so I was very off put by this request as I felt like it was just a power trip. This is art material store there's no privacy information and we were spaced very fine in the line. Other than that it was a good experience, I would say the prices are slightly higher than Michael's and Jo-Ann's but they did have a deeper range of professional product.

Blick has an excellent selection and always reliable. I used them in NYC, I lived in Hawaii where there is none, and just happy there's a bunch in Chicago but this one is also super convenient and the location is super photogenic. I last was here Angelus leather paint for some scratches scuffed up sneaker. For a specialty paint they had a wide selection and I was very happy with the results. I'd recommend just stopping by just to take sone photos but I always see something cool walking in.

This shop is very "comprehensive." I am sure that it has all of the needs of "art students" who must be deeply in debt due to the unusually elevated prices of everything here! I needed an easel to hold a print as I cannot "hang" things on the wall in my apartment. I also purchased a plastic carrying protector for my art prints, a birthday card, and a mini clothespin photo holder with the silver rope. I think the prices were "well above" what they would be at other places... Also there were 15 plus people in line waiting to pay and only three team members at what appeared to be 5-6 cashier sections. In all fairness this was "around" lunchtime..but still... While the selections of things is "artsy" like the gourmet offerings at Whole Foods...very pricy. FYI-They have an online offering to "Win a Trip to Italy." I saw the sign while waiting to "check out." They said no purchase necessary... http://www.dickblick.com/Sweepstakes

Great choice both in products and prices from entry level to student, to hobbyist and professionals. I use the website as well.

I normally don't bother to write reviews, but CMM is a special case…read more I have been getting my framing done with them for nearly 10 years and there's no one else in the city I would trust with my most precious pieces. They provide excellent service, and are always helpful and understanding of my many questions and particularities of my needs. I have remained loyal through location and ownership changes and have no plans of looking back. Thank you CMM!!

I entrusted CMM with the largest piece I've yet had framed and am thrilled to have done so. Moe…read morewas extremely thoughtful about each aspect of the project, approaching with an artist's eye and making tasteful choices which did not distract from the poster itself but added visual intrigue with the texture of the frame. The poster I brought in had some minor wear and water damage, so they partnered with Chicago Poster Restoration to ensure the piece was in the best condition possible before being framed. The finished product looks just about mathematically perfect- everyone involved did fantastic work and really elevated a simple poster to something I am excited to have as a focal point on my wall. Communication was consistent throughout the process and turnaround was surprisingly quick. I look forward to working with CMM again on framing projects that require a bit more creativity as I completely trust their vision and the care with which they treat the art brought to them.

Looking for a frame to compliment a print is a tedious chore as there are so many places in Chicago…read moreto choose from. I was able to find Prints Unlimited and Jill was able to narrow down my selection like a puzzle sorting out different color mattes and frames. Jill was able to quote me a price minus a check-in discount (under $600) which made this final product come to life. The final product was mention to take 3 weeks but after 2 weeks, I got the call to come pick the print up. I am glad Prints Unlimited made this process easy and the price was very affordable. She walked me through every step of the framing process, from picking the perfect frame style to choosing the ideal matting size and figuring out the best placement in my home. I never felt rushed; she was so patient and attentive, making the whole experience a blast! Honestly, I could have easily spent the entire afternoon with her--time flew by! I couldn't wait to return, and I brought back even more items, including a blanket (though I had to hit pause because of a vacation coming up). I've used Print Unlimitd in the past, and I'm back because I was just so thrilled with the quality! Plus, Jill gave me the pricing on the spot, and I truly felt like I scored a fantastic deal. You really do get what you pay for, so I can't wait to go back again and again!

TL:DR - Local framing spot that is taking COVID seriously. They really provide great high quality…read morepieces that always look great. They really emphasize the importance of customer service and have been really helpful in helping my design my piece, even if I come in with almost no idea of how I want something framed. To me their prices are a tad higher than what I was expecting to pay, but given the high quality work they do and how easy they make the entire process, this place provides great value if you need something framed. ---------------------------------------------------------------- I've had two experiences with the Frame Shop across its Bridgeport and Lincoln Park location and there have been some common themes that I think does a good job representing the values and aspects of framing that this place is trying to do well. What I really do appreciate about the Frameshop is how serious they're taking covid. Each location is only open a few days a week and people only come in by appointment only. Not only does this reduce the number of people around me but it gives me individual attention when it comes to getting inspiration in terms of how to set up my framed piece. Every time I've been, the person working has had a mask on as well, and there is plenty of hand sanitizers. The other thing I've noticed across my experiences, is their focus on quality framing and customer service. I am honestly a novice when it comes to framing, but even then, I always really appreciate and am impressed by the finished product. Like when I get my pieces back, I always think "Damn, this is really nice" and it makes me feel like I have my sh*t together as an adult. It's like putting on a nice suit, you automatically feel like a million bucks, even if half my wardrobe is gym shorts and t-shirts. In terms of customer service, I had a terrible first experience at Lincoln Park, but the frame shop reached out to me and let me know they had already taken steps to address some of the issues I had previously experienced, even before I gave my feedback. I am glad I gave them another shot, and I truly believe that my second experience is more representative of what you can expect based on how genuinely apologetic they were and based on other reviews. Going in the second time, I just had a few pieces from my wedding I wanted framed as an anniversary gift. I had nothing in mind of how it would go together or how it would look. Cole helped me and made the whole process really easy. He took what few ideas I had, filled in some blanks, and within 15 min we had outlined the piece and I was super happy with it. That process could not have been easier. I still do get some sticker shock when it comes to the price. Compared to what I had in mind, we're still within the same ballpark, but still higher than what I thought I was going to pay going in. But to be fair, I'm basing this off prices in my hometown, and have never gone anywhere else in Chicago, as some of the other reviewers seem to have, and found the Frame Shop to be cheaper. But given the quality of the final product, the amazing customer service, and the eye for design the workers have, you're still going to get great overall value when come to the Frame Shop.
