Randomly, out of nowhere, they just stopped picking up the cardboard boxes I put out. When I called to ask, the person that answered got all flustered and said that she didn't know why they picked up before then stopped. She told me that I could bring the cardboard and drop it off for free, but I told her it didn't make sense that it was picked up for 18 years then just stopped. Then she got even more frustrated when I told her to just charge me, that I didn't care as long as they picked up. She then further showed her backside and said that they had new rotations and maybe someone was just doing me a "solid" by picking them up before and now they are getting in trouble for it. Whatever.... this place needs some serious customer service retraining. I am paying customer that called in to offer to pay more and got treated like I was 3rd rate citizen putting out too much garbage and putting square cardboard boxes (broken down) outside the round cans that they don't fit inside. I guess it's time to start looking for a better service. I don't mind paying for better service, if I can find it. Otherwise, I will treat them the same way they just treated me.

I don't put it out often, but I pay full price for them to come every week, and they hardly ever come. I have chronic pain. When they don't pick it up, I have to carry it back to my backyard and then carry it out again and again and again, sometimes for months. It's pretty comprehensive- you pull up into the parking spots and unload. There are directive signs above each opening that tells you where to put what. I had about 15 cardboard boxes that needed to be recycled and it was nice being able to take them out and forget about them. Helping the environment is always a plus in my book. Plus they have an area for plastic bags! Make sure you break your boxes down before dropping them off :)

This place was NEVER like that. I called first and the woman on the phone was SUPER nice, and when I showed up the guys that helped me unload old pop cans were smiling, and really cool. If you have to recycle in that area, I say you go here, cause other places want you to just give them your recycle, ot they are total jerks(a dog named family comes to mind). I am a big recycler. Why did I take a star away? I'm kinda picky and want things a certain way. I understand that when they need to pick-up a full container and drop off a new one, the style of containers may change. Over the past year, I've had not complaints. All the containers have been similar enough, that unloading my recyclables have been easy. That all changed with my first drop off of 2026. The new container did not have the large square openings with sliding doors. It had little port hole window type openings. Which made it more difficult to empty my recyclables into the container. Instead of dumping my basket into a large opening, I had to empty it by handfuls at a time. This station is suppose to make recycling easy, the port holes did not do that. So I took away a star. Nowadays, my parents have this giant green garbage can courtesy of the recycling department that they tow to the curb; you don't even have to sort anything...they do all of that stuff for you. I think it tells you how far we've come when that recycle bin is bigger than my parents' real garbage can. Once I moved away from home, I've realized the lack of recycling that is done at apartment complexes. Don't laugh, but for the years I didn't have recycling, I've dragged recyclable trash home to dump. It's just a habit. I just can't in good conscience dump cardboard in the garbage can. It's a bit tedious obviously (and yes, slightly crazy) to drag trash to Chicago though. When I first moved down here, I actually really thought about asking friends who had houses if they would mind if I dumped my recyclables with theirs. But after researching on google, I found this place. And they are just the solution. Phoenix is open Monday through Saturday 8-2. They pretty much take the usual recyclables except for styrofoam and #6 plastic. They've also stopped taking plastic bags, but that's okay because Trader Joe's, Schnucks, Dierbergs, and Walmart all have containers for those nowadays. Here's a list: Plastics #1-9, except 6 Tin Aluminum Newspaper Mixed paper (junk mail, etc) Phone books Magazines Catalogs Glass Cardboard They do ask that you separate the materials by type and also to rinse all the containers. And it's a drive through recycling center meaning that you drive up and inside the big barn, stop the car, and three or four employees will come empty your car for you. They don't talk much, but they quickly get the job done and you're on your way. The website also states that they take computers. I'm not sure about that, but you might want to call and check.
