We met literally everybody else who was staying there. One night, one of the guests played guitar and sang around the fire pit for four hours. Robert and Ginny left us s'more fixings and we had a grand party. You'd do well to enjoy the hospitality, ambience, breakfast and views of this nice little gem. The place itself is very conveniently located to anything in Pagosa and also to various hikes. The facility is visually appealing and the hosts are far and away the nicest, most accommodating people you could ever meet. Just so happened it is the beginning of the season and we were the only guests for two nights. We were downright spoiled with the attention we received. Took full advantage of the happy hour (two hours actually) which included some amazing appetizers and open bar. Our first night we decided to take advantage of the in house dinner menu and it was terrific as well. Tried the filet with mushroom risotto and also the beef stroganoff with rice. We both shared and enjoyed immensely. Dessert was vanilla ice cream with an amaretto/maple sauce. I would drink that with a straw by the way. I was even given seconds on dessert, thanks Jim. We had the loft room in the main house which has its own balcony, fireplace, bathroom, AC unit, sitting area, etc, etc, etc. They think of all the touches including drinking water, smart TV, a fridge, and even simple things like eyeglass cleaning wipes in the room. Very comfortable room, king bed, and overall feel. I should probably mention that each morning we had a custom gourmet type breakfast. Odilia likes to cook and she is good at it. Our last morning we even took our breakfast out on the main deck and enjoyed the breathtaking views. We went hiking that morning and they even let us check out a little late so we could shower up before moving on to our next city. Speaking of which, we were also able to request a to go lunch for our hiking days. Food was great and plentiful. Became lunch and snacks for the day. Big thanks to Jim and Odilia. Needless to say I was very upset. I called to cancel the reservation and the woman with whom I spoke (who said she was the owner) refused to refund my payment. The only thing she would do is reschedule the date of the room but I have no plans to be back in that area in the future. I was astounded that she was so crass and uncaring. There is no way that I can recommend this place.

The grounds are beautifully maintained, and the location is perfect: close enough to walk into town, yet far enough to enjoy peaceful seclusion and mountain quiet. The front desk staff were genuinely kind, helpful, and made us feel immediately welcome. We can't wait to come back and will absolutely be choosing to stay here again. While exploring downtown, we checked out a few other hotels, and it only made us even happier with our choice. This place truly stood out in every way. I even told our kids, "dad did this to be nice and spontaneous, so even if it's bad, just be grateful and act happy". I wasn't sure what to think at first, it definitely had character at first impression, but it could go either way once you get into the rooms (I mean, we've had some spontaneous hotel experiences that did not turn out so great). I was so pleasantly surprised when we got to the room- the beds were huge and SO COMFORTABLE (even the soft pillows which are hard to find in hotels)! The beds were so comfortable that I chose to turn in early because I just wanted a good night sleep in a soft, comfy bed that I could mold into. The rooms were spacious and immaculate, housekeeping and maintenance deserve a shout out because I'm PICKY and opted to shower without my shower shoes! Rooms were decorated adorably and the balcony overlooking the river was a treat! Breakfast was basic with hardboiled eggs and toast being my only personal option, but they also had sweets, Bagels, frozen burritos, cereal, etc. We would Definitely stay here again, and I highly recommend it to you High maintenance diva's is out there.

The property is right next to other buildings. Friendly staff. Relatively small rooms. Great water pressure in the shower. Excellent quality linens and towels. Make sure to ask for a good room. A/C was rattling in mine. Moved to different room where a "pulsating" central HVAC system woke me up repeatedly. The building needs some soundproofing perhaps. Valet parking only.

It was so refreshing to see the deer walk up to us within 10 feet and watch all of the wildlife in your yard.
