They left me in tears gor almost 3 hours while they refused to help me even though I had a surgeon waiting on them to admit me. I finally left without treatment because I couldn't take sitting their in so much pain. They billed me for taking my temp and blood pressure that couldn't be recorded because it was to high do yo my pain! I realized I was wearing a trump hat after I left. I forgot which hat I had on. These are terrible people. I now drive an extra 30 minutes to actually get care from a different hospital!!! read more

Impressed with the care of all I came in contact with on my 3 day stay. Even the food was tolerable. And dietary aides were outstanding in assisting with tray placement and asking if there was anything else I needed. Great job by all. Thank you. If you want your personal medical information told to a entire full waiting room as the doctor trys to leave as fast as possible, of have the doctor dictate his notes at the nurses station where you and everyone else can hear your personal information said and for him to get it wrong because he can't listen. Or been told you have a major issue that magically goes away doing the procedure and get to listen to your doctor saying it another bad ct scan and flirt with the nurse. Then for him to be in hurry to leave after telling you there is nothing wrong with you get a 2nd opinion and lose weight with a 1000 dollar drug a month. Then have the floor nurse care more about talking about hair products then Caring for you, or saying here is manu and order what you want to with no instructions and still being drug enough you can't understand how to, and not coming back for a half hour. Not being offered water after the procedure and have to buy it at the coffee shop on the way out because you haven't drank anything in 12 hours, Not being told anything about what they are doing That you get so mad you just want rip everything out and leave because you treated less then person, this is the hospital for you. read more

My husband was air lifted to Blessing Hospital after being vented and transfered from Macomb, IL. He had the best care during ICU, with a traveling nurse Jessica, who spent the first 3 nights with him. So much care and love went out to him. Dr. Umama Adil (Pulmonology) and a Doctor from Dallas Texas who specialized in infection took great care of him. He came close to death BUT God did a miracle in him! Staying in this hospital for a month with great care and very clean was a blessing! My husband improved quickly after being at deaths door. He received very good care through ICU, PCU, Regular room and then to Rehabilitation with a Wonderful Doctor John DeGuzman who helped him get back on his feet to come home. Was injured by one of the providers at Blessing Health. Convieniently, they withheld and left out key details of the visit on my records. This prevented an accurate paper trail documenting what had actually happened. When bringing this to the attention with the 'appropriate' department that is supposed to look into such matter, they covered for the providers mistake. Further, they lied and made up details that did not happen to align with their narrative of what they refer to as 'standard of care'. Standard of care does not result in an injury. Based on my experience, if you are injured and receive substandard care, your records will not be documented accurately which will give the green light for Blessing Health to label anything as 'standard of care'. read more

I have never had a good experience at this hospital and neither has anyone else that I know. Here are just a few examples: - I went in for severe stomach pains, they had me urinate in a cup, when I came back in from the bathroom, the doctor told me I was fine and needed to go home. Never tested the urine or did anything other than feel my stomach with his hands. I questioned him and he told me he could give me prescription meds if it would shut me up and get me out of the ER. - Family member broke nose and was on blood thinners, was bleeding so bad it was coming out of his eyes, was throwing up from all of the blood going down his throat, they told him they were too busy to help him, made him wait 5 hours for treatment and made my Grandmother take care of soaking up all of the blood. Lost so much blood that he had to get a transfusion. - I went in because of constant ear aches and fluid in my ears, ear doctor asked me to describe it, told him it feels like constant "swimmer's ear" and he said he didn't know that what was. February 2, 2021 a male patient on the 2nd floor was calling out for help for 20 minutes. No one came to help him. His Dr was Dr. Reyburn. He needed help and the nurses on this unit ignored his call light. Finally, a CNA , from another area, walked by, then heard the man cry for help and she went in. Call lights are flashing and nurses are not responding. I have seen TV remotes with tape over the button to call the nurses. The rooms are filthy. His bed rails were dirt ridden with food particles and his bedding had stains and some chunky particles embedded in it. This is unacceptable. If you have to go into that hospital keep a loved one with you at all times. No one is going to advocate for you so keep your family with you or don't go into the hospital. read more

The blessing breast center wants to do unnessary procedures and harass me by phone and mail every day. I changed my phone number because of it. Now they harass me by mail requiring me to sign for a letter!! It's my life,my right to refuse anything your so called quack doctors recommend. Everyone I have talked to say this hospital is a joke . People have died for no reason because they don't care about people. I heard that an 80 year old woman died from a heart attack from a colonoscopy. They just want money and the quality of care is pretty low. Don't go to this hospital for anything they are pitiful. Also my step-mom is on so many pills for depression that she doesn't even know anyone and requires 24 hour care!!?? She was a strong active person taking care of her family now my Dad has to struggle with her care and can't afford 24 hour care. When my Dad calls the Dr.about it they say that she needs to take her medicine!! And are very rude and don't care about anyone's health and well-being. I've never had more trouble with any doctors office in my life I would like to start out by saying some of the receptionists and nurses in the ob/gynecology office need a major attitude adjustment on and the nurses implied that I couldn't afford to drive to my appointment out of town when they have no reason to make that assumption,When they asked me if I ever lived in Missouri and I told her no she looked at me like I was stupid and asked again I would know if I ever lived in Missouri. The lady's at the front desk gave me the wrong time for my ultrasound and then proceeded to talked to me like I was dumb with little respect. All I had said was that they had to have changed the time of my appointment making me wait a entire hour before my appointment which made my other appointment be pushed back. I had to go to the lab to take a 3 hour glucose test and after fasting since the night before and getting blood drawn twice they failed to do there jobs and drawn my second tube for my glucose test on time. That made my entire test invalid and I have to go back another day. So after fasting and spending 2 and a half hours there and getting stuck twice I essentially wasted my entire day I got there before 1 and didn't leave till around 4. When I first found out I was pregnant I was very very sick and I went to the walk in clinic the doctor there told me to eat yogurt and cheese, I tried it not knowing any better and it made me even sicker when I went to a different doctor they told me that was the last thing I should be eating.I will say tho that the infusion center did a amazing job and I didn't have a problem with either of my trips the nurses were very kind and respectful, and they actually did there jobs. But overall I'm very disappointed with my experiences with blessing and will be switching to Quincy medical group I cannot wait for them to open there hospital. read more

If zero stars or negative stars were an option, that is definitely what I would choose! One star is definitely too generous! My son has a very rare condition and is on multiple immunosuppressants to keep his body from killing him. Per Mayo Clinic, if he has a temp over 101, he is to immediately be seen in the ER. I brought him into the Blessing Hospital 3 hours ago with a temp of 103!!! The triage nurse is a young snot-nosed girl fresh out of her 2 year degree. She has zero concept of how serious this is for my son. She thinks it is just a temp a normal person would have! Unfortunately, unless we want to travel 3hrs to St. Louis, we have no other option. Well, here we again! My son had a seizure at work. He fell, hit his head on the curb and stopped breathing. Fortunately, a passerbyer gave him CPR until the paramedics got there. An additional piece of info I need to add is that my son is autistic. He is 23 yo but is not able to make good decisions for himself. I told them and he told them that if I wasn't able to go back with him that he would leave without treatment. They didn't care. They would not allow me to go back wit him, so he left without treatment. 05/20/20 Here we are again. After the last visit, I spoke with the nurse manager and with administration. They told me that if/when we had to return to the ER to tell them of his disabilities and that I would be allowed to go back with him. However, this evening we are here with an injury to his leg. Yet again, even after I explained his disabilities, they refused to let me go back with him. He attempted 3x to FaceTime me but the WiFi is so bad at this facility that it was unsuccessful each time. I told the nurse but they refused to provide him with a phone. He is in there alone and scared but they could care less. I was voicing my frustration to the nurse. I was not using foul language and was standing a good 2-4 ft away from her. She felt the need to call security. The security guard attempted to make me leave the premises but his supervisor said it was unnecessary as I was not a threat. Now it's inappropriate or illegal to voice concerns or frustrations??? This is ridiculous! I have absolutely nothing good to say about this hospital. It boils down to them simply not caring about what is best for the patient. If I could go somewhere else, I would but the next closest hospital is 40 minutes away. I guess Blessing, as a whole, feels that they can do and say whatever they want b/c they have a monopoly on this area. I have never had a good experience with blessing hospital. The ER takes forever to get in. Better hope you are not about to croak because you may be sitting a while. This last time I was there, I was bounced from family room to family room waiting to get in to an actual patient room. I was there for 4 1/2 hours waiting to be told what I already knew was going on. They tried to run unneccessary tests to make my bill even larger and my so called nurse only showed in the room one time to ask what was wrong, when she could have found that out by reading my chart. The doctor had already been in to see me before the nurse showed up and it didn't seem like anyone in the ER had any communication. The one good thing I can say about the ER was a volunteer that was there. She was such a sweet lady and very sympathetic with what I was going through. She did her best to make me comfortable. Truthfully, she should be paid the wages that the nurse was making. She did more for me than the nurse could even think about. Had I known the volunteers name, I would go back today and pay her for her help. It's a shame that the nurses and doctors make so much and they don't really help, but the volunteers making nothing show compassion and are eager to help. read more

12 hour waits to get someone admitted to the hospital, people waiting in the ER hospital in beds in the hallways between rooms, sick people put back out in the waiting room to be seen by doctors. Exposing the sickness to bystanders in the waiting room. Blessing hospital needs to open St Marys back up because the ER can't handle every one who comes in for help. They need another ER, most towns have more then one hospital and Quincy only has one. They are not big enough to handle Quincy's needs. read more

So my great aunt was rushed here from Bumblef*** Hospital (aka Pittsfield Hospital) and the staff was super helpful and informative (unlike my cousin, Auntie's POA) until a week after she got there. That night when I called to check on my aunt and find out the exact diagnoses and medical stuff that cuzo didn't understand or didn't bother telling me, I was transferred to a very condescending administrator who began our conversation by saying "Oh, you feel caught because you don't know what's happening to your aunt and your cousin won't tell you, huh?" Sounds like dude is trying to empathize with me, but his voice was soooo condescending. I answered, "yes, that's more or less how I'm feeling. Now, can you tell me how she is today?". He proceeded to hem and haw, wasting my cell minutes until I asked him whether he was going to tell answer my questions, since I'm not POA. He promptly answered in the negative and I hung up. When I posted my problems with HIPPAA and family drama and helpful Yelpers posted replies that most hospitals and nursing homes don't understand HIPPAA and that the good ones hire someone to help family members like me- I found this to be true. Blessing Hospital 1., doesn't understand HIPPAA 2., doesn't have the staff qualified to deal with distressed family members who aren't POA and 3., rather than hire said staff, this hospital prefers to drive distressed family members such as myself to distraction by passing them to administrators with NO social work skills. Blessing Hospital saved my life a few years ago. I was coughing and having breathing difficulty. It was the middle of winter, so I thought I had a chest sold or something. I stopped by one of their walk in clinics (they offer three in grocery/department stores) in town. They sent me directly to the E.R. I was immediately taken into the emergency room where a temporary pacemaker was inserted. I was monitored overnight and got a permanent pacemaker installed the next morning. I later learned that I had a heart system problem that could have killed me. Blessing's quick action literally saved my life. I know some people will complain about the wait time or service at the hospital, especially the E.R., which is nearly always packed. It's packed in some part because of people looking for no pay medical care. As a non profit hospital, Blessing is required to see all patients whether they can pay or not. I can't make a judgment about who really qualifies for E.R. help or not. I suspect some do not need the expertise of E.R. care. This bogs down the system.
