I saw this event on Muenchen.de website and thought, we should go check it out. Not having visited…read moreany Weinfest in Germany so far, I was eager to see what this one is all about. It was held in the inner courtyard of the Residenz.
I was surprised when we first stepped in to see how empty it was. On a sunny day in Munich you would be falling over people getting into a festival like this but, here it was relatively empty for a Sunday afternoon. Perhaps it has something to do with the holiday season in Bavaria. There were few umbrellas to cover the tables from the sunshine which meant, that many of the tables were empty. The average demographic here was also much older. I felt young at this festival ;-))
There were about 4-5 different winemakers from the Pfalz area here and, it was €5 for a 0,25l glass of wine and, you could also buy a 0,1l or, a whole bottle. There were two food stands one serving Pfannkuchen and another selling Bavarian dishes like Brezen and Lebarkase and so on.
The wines were mostly white, sparkling or rose with a few reds thrown in. I had a lovely glass of Rosé from one of the stands and had a taste of some others. There was a live band playing and I think they used the same beat for almost all the songs they played :-)
All in all an ok experience and I may come back here again next year. It's an ok way to spend a couple of hours on a Sunday.
