In all honesty, this plumber does not even deserve one star…read more We hired him for our new build. It was a "Hale" of an experience, and we do not want anyone else to go through this with him. We agreed to the cost of 26,000.00 for this project. He plays that "good 'ol boy" game very well. You know a smile, and shake your hand and promises of fairness and getting the job done in a timely fashion. When we asked for written agreements, he laughed them off. We asked to see licenses, he laughed it off. When we asked for the receipts he acted as if this request was too much to do. After two years and collecting $49,300.00 we got firm about when projects would be finished without any extra cost. As none of them were 100% finished. He got upset and quit. He was a year past move in date, we only had one toilet (no sinks to wash hands) a spigot in the lower level and a forced air furnace which was never supposed to go into the home. We had 2 hot water heaters not up and running, and tubing for in floor heat. From the beginning, and without our permission his turned our project over to 2-3 inexperienced apprentices. Out of the 511 hours of labor, Hale was on site only 23 of them. How does a student learn, if the teacher is not around? Out of the 5 sinks roughed in ALL of them had the hot on the right and the cold on the left. Not one correct. This is basic plumbing 101, and we had to pay another plumber to correct them. Next, the reason Hale was not on site, he started a two story addition onto his home the same week our project was started. Where was he and our extra money? We purchased all fixtures ahead of build. He was only responsible for the copper and PVC. We priced the copper at Menard's, there was only $6000.00 worth in our home. We asked for the best copper and he put in the worst possible. He told us that he would bill us at his cost on materials, later, after court order to give us our receipts, he charged 50% over is cost, even on retail items purchased at the big box stores. He ordered extra materials, and kept them. Where these in his new addition? As far as the forced air furnace which was not to be in our home....it is not energy efficient, it is suspected to be refurbished and, he paid $995.00 for it, charged us $7000.00 for it and charged $7000.00 just to carry it to the lower level. And, installation took 8 months, does this sound appropriate? For 7,000.00 I would have toted it down. What is his mark up on this item? We bought a water system and after charging us 33 hours to install it, he left it breached and leaking...he demanded more money to fix it. He charged us for personal use items as well as tools which were not used or left. Four rechargeable flashlights and 48 batteries, 3 air test gages and a jig saw, tool boxes are just a few to list. He charged us for Red Oak lumber...we are an ALL Steel home. There was not red oak wood used in the build of this home. He purchased a $10.75 bit and charged us $70.00 for it and on top of that he charged $500.00 to drive 25 miles to go get it. This bit was just one of 18, all of them were wood bits...he was told not to purchase them, as again, we are all steel and would not work on our home. His new addition was wood framed. Then we were charged for a hot water heater that is not in our home. Do you suppose it is in his new addition? Our home is modest in size, it should have taken 3-4 quarts of PVC cleaner and glue, he charged and collected for over 3 GALLONS of this product. Can we say stockpiling? He also did this with bags of concrete. One bag would have been too much for the job, he collected on 6.... and used none. He charged us for classes....geo-thermal to name one....we do not have geo thermal in our home. $800.00 three times. In the receipts HE provided, he took 3 of them and folded them in different places and copied them in order to have 6-7 receipts. Some of the receipts where blackened so you could not see the items he charged us for. He never had the home inspected before the drywall went up. In our brand new home we have over 50 code violations. It took over 20,000.00 more to correct some of the issues to get us into the home. And, we need another $30,000.00 to finish up on all his errors. He worked on our well without a licenses and he worked on our septic without a license...which resulted in fecal matter blowing up into every drain in our home. The blow up was so forceful that the toilet came off of the seal and water went everywhere. What a mess ! We have proof to all the above statements. And, the above statements are just a FEW of the issues of us using Hale Plumbing and Heating. Please, DO NOT hire this plumber! It has been an emotional and financial drain ! Pun not intended, we have several drain issues and since we are in poured concrete, we are stuck with them.
