Fifth Avenue Shoe Repairs is the best place to go to in town. They seem to do a very good job for me. But the one significant thing I dislike about this shoe repair store, they do not seem to give out proper offical receipts, whenever I pay for my goods in cash. Nonetheless, you would not find that issue whenever you'd pay with your credit/debit card.

(2) They did not issue a ticket for the repair and then of course did not contact about how the repair was progressing. (3) I called and was told after two months: 'I havent done it' . (4) When I finally went to collect - George demanded a ticket, I explained he hadn't given me one for this job. He was aggressive and blamed me for not bringing a ticket I had never received after he had told me previously he would: 'text me which was better'. (5) He had told me the job was £20 when I got out my card to pay, he said aggresively " £20 was cash only - with a card it is £30". ( A £10 surcharge to pay with a card)? He then told me I had a bad attitude and to get out of his shop. I was stunned and just wanted to get my boots back. I went and found a friend who worked down the road to accompany me to the shop after I had visited an ATM and got cash. I did not feel safe going back on my own. All in all this was unnecessary and quite crazy. I don't think George shoe repairs is worth the bullying and abuse - however good their work is -nothing is worth being abused. His attitude is a load of cobblers!

I brought the boot to George hoping he could replace the zipper. Instead George desnarled and repaired the zipper. The zipper is perfect and I have not had any problems. I also take my designer handbags to George for repair and cleaning. George takes the time to chat and explain what he plans to do for repair and why. I ordered a watch strap (as he did not have the right size in) and it only arrived 10 days after I placed the order, when he said it would take a couple of days. More importantly, this man is very impolite and refuses to acknowledge his wrongdoing, let alone apologise and compensate me. He did not follow up on an item which should have arrived within 2-3 days (this is not a fault of the post but of his relatinoship with the manufacturer sending it out), and he did not even call me out of courtesy to let me know of the delay, NOR when the watch finally arrived even though he had promised he would call. When I called to complain he refused to acknowlegde his wrongdoing and conciliate. This is very unfortunate as I have pre-paid but otherwise I certainly will not, ever, be going back. He was also closed on Saturday when he claims he is "normally" open and replied, rudely, to me "well I have a life outside of this business so keep your nose out" when I asked politely why he claims he is open when he is not on Saturdays.
