Over the course of a number of months, they worked with me to develop my core to relieve the pressure on my spine. In the end, not only was that issue fully resolved, they also helped with other issues: shoulder pain I had been ignoring for years, correcting a problem with my gait, general flexibility when getting up off the floor and with overall strength. This will allow me to resume my daily walking schedule and twice weekly gym visits. And I will certainly keep up and extend this exercise program at home. (Diet and exercise were two key goals when I retired a couple of years ago from a sedentary job, but pain was putting the exercise plans at risk.) On my second visit, ssked for a home exercise program from the therapist (who was professional) but was then quickly handed over to an assistant to get the home exercises. That didn't happen. In advance, I asked for a therapist trained in the McKenzie Method based on recommendations for low back pain. Phone person (who was very nice) checked and said that would be no problem. However therapist I saw, while familiar, wasn't certified. Place is jammed with older people (with potentially no/low deductibles) and, by listening to the patients checking in, a LOT of workers comp patients who are looking for reasons to not go or leave work. So ka-ching$$$, for Gold Medal every time they visit. Physical therapy services that are provided are adequate and not quackery but unless you have the in-office equipment they use at home, you have to come in. Younger front office staff complained loudly to each other about being understaffed. I chose Gold Medal in part based on Massage Therapy services advertised. Only to discover it's all out of pocket and they only have one massage therapist. Plus they haven't figured out that billing massage therapy as manual therapy is what works for insurance companies so it's covered. Actually went back to my doctor for a new referral and found superior service with another PT office in Bel Air. That PT worked with me the entire time, provided a home exercise program on my first visit, and asked if once a week would work with my schedule though no massage therapist on staff.
