    New States water heater installed up to code. Quality work performed by Austin Fleming with Blake Brothers.

    Woke to water running out of my water heater on this beautiful Saturday morning, so I called the company whom I had seen most in our large subdivision. If everyone around me is using Blake Brothers then that in itself is a testimony of their work. They quickly dispatched Austin Fleming to our house and he assessed the situation, spoke to my home warranty representative, quoted the replacement cost, and quickly got the work done. He was very polite, informative, and knew how to bring everything up to code. I highly recommend Blake Brothers for your plumbing needs. And, as I was informed today, they do mechanical and electrical too. They also honor military veterans for their service with a discount. My husband and I truly appreciate that. We will be using them again should a situation arise to where we need their service.

    Expensive Fish-tape! So not worth it for my permanent home in ALABAMA! Let me begin by stating what a fish-tape is: Fish tape is a tool used by electricians primarily for pulling electrical or other wires through conduits. It's also used for pulling NM wire through walls, ceilings, floors, and other enclosed spaces. The fish tape itself is a long, stiff, flat steel wire. For a stated 3.0 hrs. of total work and $452.00 paid to Blake Brothers, all I received was my own cable cut with neither end made up routed through an existing hole through the wood stud in the wall that I was not able to get my tape through initially. I am not displeased with the technicians work as they did fine. The problem is the exorbitant cost for the service that was performed. Initially, they quoted me over $734.00 for 3.5 hours' worth of labor and a new route with new holes to be cut in roughly 1.5- 2" of header beam. Upon completion of the job, I spoke with Franco (elec. Technician), and he stated that the job was much EASIER than initially quoted as they utilized the very same wire route and hole in the stud wall because they were successful in getting their fish tape through it! This was the very same chase or hole that I gave up on. In summary, they expended just enough effort to not cut any new openings or run new cable routes, they utilized the same route because they were successful in getting their fish tape through an existing opening, they utilized a cable I provided and tested it, but they did not make up either end of the cable and the wall outlet is still not assembled because Blake brothers technicians do not make up the ends. All that for the price above. I tried contacting Blake Brothers Management and left a message for Blake brothers to contact me with both Franco and Whitney (separate days). Whitney explained to me that Steve (MGR) was in a meeting with Franco this morning discussing "things" and would leave a message with Steve Saltsman to contact me back. Well, as of this writing, I have yet to receive any contact back from Blake Brothers. You know that if I could give a rating of ZERO stars, that is what it would be for the unreasonable pricing for services rendered. All that circumvents any positive ratings I would have to give to the technicians' competence and capability. In Franco's defense, he is not responsible for pricing... he just pushes the COMPANY's objectives. He did say I could discuss the pricing with management... And thus, this is my review of Blake Brothers. I've included a copy of my Blake Brothers Invoice as proof for the exorbitant money I paid for services rendered and hoping you folks will not be DUPED into making a similar mistake with this company. I wish I was there to deal with both TECHNICIANS personally as everything was handled via mobile.

    We ran into trouble trying to install Google Nest Thermostats in our new home to upgrade the manual…read moreones the builders installed. We set up the installation at the same time we bought the units online from the Google Store. Our HVAC system turned out not to be compatible with these thermostats, and the assigned technician could not complete the installation. So, we turned to Southern Comfort, having established that they installed the system during our home's construction. They got their Josh out to us later the same day! He installed a pair of Ecobee Smart Thermostats instead. Carrier made our HVAC system, and they now own Ecobee, so it was a sound choice on his part. Josh returned the next day at our request to fine-tune the settings to match our requirements. It's a sophisticated system, but he took the time to explain its nuances and get us in a happy, warm place. It was a delight to work with Josh and the Staff in the Southern Comfort Office. It was cost-effective and good value too. Oh, that we had been smart enough to contact them in the first place.

He was thorough and quickly located the problem in the attic, a wire that had unattached. He was polite and professional. When I paid the bill, he asked me if I was a senior which gave me a discount on the service call. I've used this company over many years for service calls and for 2 new HVAC units. I recommend this company for quick service and trouble shooting only that which needs to be done.

    This summer, my air conditioner stopped working. First thing in the morning, I looked up HVAC…read moreservices nearby and picked these guys since they were open early and they were the closest. Somebody responded immediately and sent a technician in the afternoon. The tech did a thorough checkup and identified that the capacitor had gone bad. They also suggested that I replace the entire HVAC unit since it is almost 20 years old. I requested a quick fix which is to replace the capacitor. Capacitors seem to be very cheap when purchased online. They charged way more than the price, of course factoring in the time and labor involved with the analysis and replacement, it was reasonable. The tech who showed up was very knowledgeable. A few months later, in winter and a day after the first frost, my heater stopped working and I spent an entire night shivering in the cold. First thing in the morning, I requested conditioned air solutions for a technician and they sent someone within a couple of hours. The tech spent a lot of time checking the hvac system and identified the same issues as the previous tech mentioned. This technician was also very knowledgeable and answered all my questions patiently. It was apparent that my HVAC is getting old and I could no longer continue with the temporary fixes. I decided to replace the entire thing and conditioned air solutions gave me an estimate and a payment plan. After I agreed, they booked a technician within a couple of days. The entire process went smoothly and their technicians have done an awesome job with the installation. They cleaned up well afterwards. I could not be happier with the service. I suspect that their prices might be a bit higher, but from what I understood talking to their techs is that the company pays them well and treats them well. So, all is well! I highly recommend them for any HVAC needs.

Today we got our first six month check up maintenance and the tech was Josh Sylvester. He was very knowledgeable and answered all our questions. Not only did he completely check everything to make sure it was working properly, but he also noticed that our dryer vent hose was partially plugged up and gave my husband suggestions for handling the problem himself if he didn't want to pay a technician for repairs. I love that their technicians are so competent and helpful.
