It was my first visit here. Right when you walk in the salon catches your eye, it is beautifully decorated. They have a few later appointments slots on Wednesday which I was grateful for. My hair was in desperate need of some help. Kendyl was my hair stylist. She was very easy to work with, asked me a lot of questions on how I would like my hair. I usually come prepared with a few pictures or ideas but I let her take the lead. She showed me a few pictures of previous clients and we narrowed it down pretty quickly. Then the entire process started. I ended up choosing a partial highlight, with roots and then a haircut. I was there from about 4-6pm. I was extremely happy with how my hair turned out, it felt so light and pretty. If I was more photogenic, there would be some pictures for proof. OK, where to even start with this gem of a place! I have lived in AZ since 2010 and please believe it's been a struggle to find a great hair stylist. In my personal experience, it's been difficult to convey my hair goals to new stylists as I have hopped around a bit to find that person that just gets it which sadly has not been the case until I came to Blades Styling! I threw up a story asking for reccs and Caila who helps run the Salon immediately reminded me of Blades, thanks gf best decision EVer. Blades styling is the best salon in Gilbert! The salon is SO cute and always so clean and fully stocked with all my Favorite Kevin Murphy products. Kenna took me from a grown out blonde balayage that I had been keeping up with for several years, back to a more natural brunette. I. Am. Obsessed. To say the least! I am so impressed with Kenna's skills as a stylist! My roots are very very dark and I have gone to other places where I have left with an orange tone in my highlights, and hair that feels a bit damaged. I can assure you I left feeling beautiful with the hair of my dreams- no orange and soft hair! Taylor blades has a beautiful salon with some of the best girls in Gilbert. Hold tight - I've been going to Taylor for 2 years. I can honestly say, if you have the chance to go to another salon where you'll be appreciated- do so. There's no denying that the work the salon does is good, however, it comes down to her customer service, it's horrible. When it was just blades styling renting out the little spot with just the two girls, it was great - it felt like a home grown salon, if that makes sense. When Blades styling opened their doors, growth flooded and unfortunately others areas suffered due to it. There's a couple things I think are important for others to be aware when booking: - when prices increase at blades styling (they have 3 times since I've seen her) you don't know until your appointment unless your actively stalking their Instagram stories. There's no newsletter or any other type of warning for prices increasing. - you'll get charged $225 for toner and be told it was color.. color doesn't sit for 15 minutes while your in the hair bowl and I also confirmed with other stylist what she was doing to be true - You will be treated like a doll when you're in her seat. Specifically Taylor - rough brushing, pulling, blow drying, and curling, it is not relaxing) - when they're working on your hair, they'll have their side conversations & act like you don't exist - Inconstancy in service & price - No matter how much you her promote for FREE and just because you appreciate her, unless your someone with a blue check mark - you don't matter in this salon. You may ask, did you voice any of your concerns? I did. Specifically 6 months ago, I thought we were good. We even had a phone conversation regarding her lack in the service we once use to get. However, It wasn't until recently I saw just how much she didn't care for her clients or the longevity of a client. I hadn't been on social media but got on and saw a gorgeous photo of her & instantly video chatted, she wasn't available so I DM'd and explained I meant no disrespect but did I miss anything (with a mom holding a baby emoji), because she was legit glowing and radiating. The picture had a box for a Q&A so it wasn't even based off her body, because you couldn't see it, I thought I might have missed something. After her reaction, I apologized profusely, she didn't like that. I ended up having to cancel because I picked up a trip (to make more money to afford things like this). I always DM'd her, never had an issue. After viewing my Tiktok which wasn't about her business but a hotel, she felt the shoe fit I guess. She wrote the following DM, when I canceled which made me & other business owners uncomfortable just reading. I thought she was a friend, that's why I allowed all this to go on but my mistake for not treating her like a business and ending this a year ago. Spend your hard earn money at another business you'll be appreciated at - RUN from this place. Otherwise this is the type of person (screenshot attached) you'll be paying to do a service. read more

If you had asked me a year ago about Blades Styling, specifically Taylor Blades herself, I would have told you she was amazing and kind. However, looking back now at everything my opinion has completely changed. If you are considering NBR extensions, I am sure you are well aware of the financial cost that comes with them, and that being said, you want the best. You will not receive this if you go to Taylor Blades.   Over my year being with Blades Styling I can say that until my new install I really didn't have many complaints, but here are a few prior to the new install. Taylor either failed to disclose some information that comes with your set price for your 8 weeks follow up/ move up or maybe she simply doesn't offer these services that other great NBR certified stylist do, but merely over charges you. Taylor and her assistant will treat your expensive extensions like crap, by simply brushing them as if they were doll hair. You spend a majority of your initial cost on this hair, it is expensive. In your instructions it will say to brush from bottom and work your way up, pretty common knowledge; however, that is not how it is treated by Taylor or her assistants.   Now addressing the new install, here are my following warnings for all whom consider going to Taylor for their hair needs. Taylor originally gave me a price and then after my install charged me $100 dollars more, which was later claimed that they would have never quoted me the other price.. I have a tough scalp, but I will say that they brushed my hair so hard I am surprised I still have hair on my head. Ouch! When dying my hair, as well as the extensions, Taylor was out of the color for both and had to compromise.. Which seems very unprofessional.  Following the install, everything looked fine.. a week later my extensions and hair did not match. I wasn't even able to wear my hair down. My new hair dresser made a comment about how my hair was not only yellow but all one color, no different shades like my extensions.  When it was fixed, she also ended up having to re-root my extensions because they looked terrible with just a straight line of brown.  I contacted Taylor a week after my install to let her know of my complaint, and heard nothing. Two weeks after my appointment now, I reached out again. I received a lame excuse of being busy and treated like I should have continued to reach out until I got a response. Her response was to fix my hair around my extensions.. Which again, seems unprofessional. I spent way too much money on this to have a half job done to fix it. Having this all still going four weeks in, I only had four more weeks until my move up. I work full time, I am a single mom, and Taylor doesn't have any hours within my work schedule so that lack of accommodation was also very frustrating. I asked to have it re-done at my eight weeks, and was told that I would get charged at that point. They couldn't find any time that worked for me and only after I notified her that I would not be returning was I offered an appointment. The final text to all of this from Taylor consisted of explanation marks and how a phone call would have been more professional. Additionally, all this communication wasn't from Taylor herself but her assistants. Don't waste your money here and I hope this helps you with your search for your perfect NBR stylist. read more

I went to Blades styling and had Kaila as my stylist. I have never been happier with my experience at a salon! Kaila was so sweet and welcoming and she was very knowledgeable about what was best for my hair. She did an incredible job on the color and the styling. Usually when I leave a salon there's always something I wish had turned out a little different with my hair, but after my appointment with Kaila, I was 100% happy with everything. First off, I am not one to write reviews (ever)... however, Taylor and her team deserve to be praised. Taylor is as good as it gets! It is obvious her passion for hair through her work done. She is consistently staying up to date with trainings and is extremely honest with what she can make happen with my color while putting the integrity & health of my hair first. I am an NBR customer and have never felt more confident with my hair and all of that credit is due to Taylor. I am originally from Arizona however now live in California and travel back to AZ for my hair appointments because the work Taylor does is worth it. Additionally, Taylor and her team are extremely efficient. Being someone who is constantly on a time crunch and on the go, I appreciate this a ton.
