It's been a minuet since this trip. A minuet late but don't let that give you the impression that I don't care. I do care. I always care. That established I must most earnestly recommend this as pretty much the only way to get from Manhattan to JFK. Full stop. Period. The on-line reservation platform is tight, though me wanting to be exactly sure I phoned. And the fellow on the phone was super tight too. As was the Uber bag taxi that charged like my bag was a human but who cares. Life is short. In for a penny in for a pound. Departed JFK that evening at 8. Which meant the hired car would have had to be there by 4. Which means no last day rambles about the City. Arrived the point of departure a little early, just because. And because pre-flight libations in the cozy West Side lounge were on their house and served by lovely happiness with a smile. A few others there. Some who clearly owned their own planes, some who flew coach. All having a perfect time. 15 minutes ish in the air. Splendid views. Sweet BMW with the luggage loaded and off to the terminal with a tasty beverage in hand. Seriously. Why not. You could save a couple of shekels taking the train, but really? You can't take those shekels with you. Leave some with these fine people and treat yourself to something special. Every. Single. Time. read more

Ummm, amazing experience and I truly owe it all to BILT & BLADE. If you haven't heard of the BILT Rewards program/credit card, allow me to briefly share - it's a credit card with no annual fee that you can use to pay your rent - with no added fees. And, the best part? You get points for doing so. My rent happens to be a lot of money and I am a BILT Platinum member and one of the many great perks is a free ride on BLADE annually. I may live in Los Angeles but I had plans to go into the city in Mid-July and strategically stayed near Newark to 1. Save money and 2. Be able to use my BILT x BLADE perk to get into Manhattan. Ouh la wee it worked perfectly despite some not-so-great weather the morning of my flight. I took an Uber or Lyft (can't remember which) from my hotel near Newark to the BLADE lounge located so close to Newark (on Brewster Road) in the Signature Flight Support area and hung out in the lounge for a while. I used the time to drink way too much coffee, Sprite, and form a plan for my free time in Manhattan. The young adults working in the lounge were so nice and professional. My flight was on time despite the weather and we took off before the weather turned again. Our pilot, Caleb, was fantastic and gave us a smooth ride over to Manhattan. It doesn't really matter that the ride was only five minutes, we were able to see the breathtaking view of Manhattan, Statue of Liberty, and Ellis Island to name a few things. Whether you're going from Newark to JFK or Newark/JFK into Manhattan, I would recommend BLADE. This has got to be the fastest way to get into the city. No traffic, no hassles. Oh, and take some time to enjoy the lounges - lovely decor and drinks. Minimal food (pretzels at best). Thank you BILT for this incredible perk and BLADE for the amazing experience. read more

WATCH OUT. This company is a money grab. As a first time customer I booked and then quickly cancelled my flight due to unforeseen personal circumstances. When I spoke with their customer service team they said they would not issue a refund because I was within the 24 hour window (to be clear I cancelled within a 21 hour window). They offered partial flight credits which are useless to me as I'm rarely in NYC. I escalated this to their CEO on LinkedIn and he reaffirmed that they would not refund my cancellation. This business is clearly hurting if they're unwilling to refund a new customer $225 and terrible customer service all the way to the top of this organization. I would not recommend this service to anyone. read more

5 stars, no flight! I had booked my first blade experience. I was due to land at JFK about 90 minutes prior to boarding. As I walked in to the heliport my flight was cancelled and heliport closed due to rapidly changing weather. I was stunned, worried, felt helpless. I was quickly reigned in by a man, I believe his name was Kevin. He assured me I'd be refunded, took my bag, and whisked me quickly into a suburban. Within moments we were on a beeline to JFK. Talk about a plot twist. Driver was super professional. Not only did I make my flight, I managed to get pizza and wine before I boarded. Exceptional service. Took Blade to East Hampton Airport. On time, a positive experience. The negative reviews below are all for cancelled service: weather issue, can't take luggage. There is a luggage limit, I was well under 25 pounds for a short trip. As for weather, they reserve the right to cancel for bad weather. See review below, they got the customer to the airport anyway. I booked Blade's helicopter transfer between JFK and Manhattan to make a dinner and event in the city. Blade then canceled my inbound flight. I then rescheduled for my outbound flight on Sunday and with little notice they cancelled again and declined to refund the fare. Because I live outside NewYork and only visit the city seldomly, the limited‑window flight credits they offered are unusable. When I explained this, the representative suggested I gift the credits to someone else. Unexpected changes happen, but withholding a refund after the service provider canceling the service is disappointing and unfair. read more

I flew Blade for the first after wanting to try it for forever! I had a trip to Singapore flying out of JFK, and I had only heard nightmare stories about unexpected traffic and delays from Manhattan to JFK by car. I'm incredibly anxious about traffic and being late so the idea of a 5min trip to the airport was ideal. It took literally 5 minutes for me to go online and book my trip, inputting restauration, flight number, airline, and time frame in which you wanted to be dropped off at your terminal. After putting everything through, my trip was booked just like that! The Blade lounge is super easy to find, and after I got dropped off I made my way in. The lounge is more like a super large trailer, but it was impeccably decorated and fitted so that every comfort you desired would be within reach. I was immediately greeted by staff and they took care of my luggage for me. They offer complimentary drinks as you wait in the cutest spill-proof cups. I had two gin and tonics on the house and enjoyed the view of the Hudson and helicopters passing by. At 3:40pm, they ushered us out onto the helipad and we made our way onboard. I shared my ride with 2 others so we all had plenty of room to spread out and take many videos and pictures of the stunning views! They weren't lying when they said it would take 5min. We touched down in JFK right after we had left it seemed, and the ride was much smoother than I imagined it to be! We were led by our guide through to airport transport, and I was led to the car awaiting that would be taking me to my appropriate terminal. As usual, they took complete care of my luggage, and I made it to my terminal and through security with plenty of time to spare. This is definitely the way to go if you are flying to JFK! The service was great throughout and the ease, comfort, and just overall fun of the experience made it amazing! read more

Don't fly with them unless you like having your money stolen. Useless service and fraudulent at best. To go from midtown to JFK there are a few options: 1. Uber/Taxi, but you're at the whims of traffic. 2. MTA or train, which is more reliable than taxi/Uber, but it can break down still. So I thought I'd try out Blade as a way to have consistent, fast, and reliable service from midtown to JFK. They cancelled my flight and won't give me my money back. I emailed them about this and they gave me a screenshot saying they reserve the right to not give me my money back if it's a 'weather cancellation'. In this case, it wasn't a weather cancellation; it was some UN council meeting where they cancelled flights for the entirety of September. They couldn't have not known this ahead of time so it seems like a play by them to just grab your money without having to fulfill their end of the service. Anyway, I told them about this and they still insisted that despite it not being a weather cancellation that they aren't going to issue a refund, which I find fraudulent because there's nothing that prevents them from making up excuses for not flying and just taking your money, in perpetuity. TLDR: The whole point of a 5 minute flight is to avoid traffic and get to the airport reliably. Blade is in the most literal sense useless because you can expect to: 1) Pay them money. 2) Not know if they'll cancel on you for weather or some reason they concoct up out of nowhere. 3) If they cancel, they'll maybe let you know 1 hour ahead of time. If you only know 1 hour ahead of time, you have to book a flight that's earlier because you'd need to account for alternate modes of transport. In this way, you have to leave home as early as you would with an Uber or MTA anyway. So not only are they unreliable -- the times where they feel like flying, you're not actually saving any time! This defeats the entire purpose of Blade. I recommend everyone that isn't getting their money back from Blade to file a chargeback. Pretty scammy. read more

I've flown Blade twice now, and I am so pleased with what Rob and his staff have done with this company. The transfer has always been effortless; I have traveled with both an infant/toddler and an elderly parent (and solo) and the crew in the bird and on the ground could not have made the experience any more pleasant. Kudos to the pilots and to Ness Ziona ((Essiona) and Jen ('Madeline') at the Lounge West. Your cocktails, friendliness and attention to detail are appreciated beyond measure. Now. Excellent experience from start to finish! The "before:" Simple and quick reservations; great communications about what, when, where; flawless pickup at JFK arrivals; carry ons taken care of. The "during:" The only thing wrong with the ride itself was that it wasn't long enough... The 'after' was fun, too. Helicopter service offers commuting to airport minus any luggage "A check bag" I arrive 30 min ahead of schedule only to be told I'm traveling with luggage to a airport that's never been done before they can't accommodate. Time is of the essence if I don't fly to Newark and I Taxi in I'll have to leave 10 minutes ago to make it through the tunnel. To be clear, this place is essentially just an oversized trailer completely modified to be a chic waiting lounge. That said, the space is quite comfortable (with plenty of views of the helipad), and the service is top tier (they can make you pretty much any kind of cocktail your heart desires). I have had a very negative experience with this company. Their whole pitch is to make travel easy and yet it is a total headache to book anything. I tried to contact them through email and calling, among other ways, and was rarely connected with a person--which is ridiculous given that I'm trying to spend upwards of a thousand dollars any time I call. Furthermore, many bookings require you to pay up front for other people's seats on the helicopter and then you get credit when the other people book tickets on your flights. But then there are tons of restrictions on how you can use the credits! It was a huge pain. The app itself is also difficult to use--they advertise themselves as the Uber for helicopters but honestly, they're so inaccessible and inconsistent that they're the furthest thing from it. Definitely caused me more stress than benefit. I won't be doing it again. read more
