The phone was answered by a live person, not a machine. My appointment was on time and I was not kept waiting. The office was clean and parking was right at the door. Having two state and two federal returns prepared in one sitting was a little costly but mine are complicated and I wanted them done correctly. I was pleasantly surprised to find that I received refunds from both state and federal. Honestly, I expected to have to pay. Electronic filing was fast and easy, and I received my refunds in about one week. Recently I had to phone Simplified because I could not locate my daughter's return and needed it to complete her FASFA application. I phoned and was told that yes, I certainly could get that document. If I were to pick it up in person, it would cost $10. But Paula told me that she could email it to me for free. I moved to Lansing from Chicago to live with my fiance having no real job prospects. My only minor criticism was that I never heard from an actual person at Westaff to confirm they'd received my application and we actively trying to find a position for me. But that turned out to not matter at all! One morning I received a call from Mark Joseph saying he had a job for me, but that I would need to interview the next day and start my job the day after that... if that was ok. Of course that was ok!! My placement was a good, well-paying administrative position at a hospital. After working there for 8 weeks, I took two weeks off...got married...and before I could even call Mark to say I was ready for my next assignment, he contacted me to say that the hospital wanted me back for another 8 weeks!! After completing that assigment, I had logged enough hours to be hired away from Westaff and into the hospital. As far as ratings and comparisons, I've worked with other agencies in the past who have gone out of their way to make me feel like I'm actually one of their employees. Westaff . . . not so much. They're pretty cut-and-dry: hook you up with the job, have you sign the paperwork, pay you at the end of the period, and collect their share. Not that that's bad; that's what they're asked to do. There's just nothing spectacular about how they do it. In short, they've been nice and efficient, but don't expect to get pampered.
