By far the best barber shop I've ever been to in my life. All of the barbers are masters of their trade. They take their time when cutting your hair and they make sure it looks great. Recommend making an appointment, walking in may have you waiting for quite awhile. Like I said these guys take their time. If you want a quick cheap cut, go to super cuts or something. Well, this is the first crappy review I've ever written on yelp. And it took me three weeks to get to it, I'm not a big complainer. But I'd have to say a rule of thumb for getting a haircut would be: a friendly Barber can get away with giving me a slightly crappy haircut, however a crabby unfriendly Barber sure is hell a to give me the best haircut I've ever had in my life. I went in before the last holiday weekend, to get a haircut and a beard trim and left both feeling like shit and having to re-cut my own hair. I think the barber said one word to me. I thought this was really strange because I've been going to him to get my haircut for several years and referred several customers to him. What made it really annoying, was that I've gone to the trouble to make an appointment and at the barber double booked that same appointment. So I had somebody staring at me through my entire haircut giving me the evil eye as if I was there taking his appointment time. That's not cool. I actually went in there to feel better, came out feeling worse. I would never have cut my beard if I thought it was going to have such a shitty cut. I'm very particular about that even took a nick out of my mustache where I specifically asked him not to. read more

First time here and I am impressed! Outstanding attention to detail in delivering a great haircut! I enjoyed the shop's vibe and barber's conversation. They scheduled me the same day that I called, and attended to me quickly when I arrived. They are open on Sundays, which is a plus! I was out for a run and saw their COVID outdoor setup. Things looked legit and so I went ahead and asked if they can trim my preCOVID cut mop. They were willing and able to accommodate my sweaty hindquarters right then and there. They hooked me up with one of the best fades I've had all while workin around my face mask. Great location and uniquely decorated shop! It's located across the street from the Whistle Stop bar, you can't miss the barber pool outside the front door. We pass this place almost daily on our walking route, and I was attracted to their signs, decor & friendly neighborliness. I managed to talk my significant other into a haircut after seeing a very handsome photo of him taken more than 20 years ago. He has beautiful white curly hair. Sorry I couldn't "paste" the before photo. BUT...people, old & young, have started at him and, on many occasions, told him that he looks just like Einstein! That's very, very BIG, white curly hair. A couple of days before the haircut, he shaved off his Covid beard, too, all shaggy & scruffy under his chin, & left only the moustache he couldn't part with. On the big day, we were made very comfortable & treated royally by everyone in the shop, especially Charlie, the owner. JAC set about his mastery & gave a command performance. The result was a gorgeous haircut! It felt like I was sleeping with a different man. One of the best benefits when we are sleeping is that I don't feel as though I'm choking on his hair! On the recommendation of a friend I was referred to Sloan at Blacktree Barberia for a beard trim. I went in really pretty scruffy and haphazard and came out a new trimmed up man. Discovered this unique spot BEFORE they opened. Walking by the decor caught my eye through the window. Ended up in the chair a couple months later and have been returning ever since. I'm not one to write a lot of reviews because opinions are kinda like aholes, everyone's got one. But when I go to a place I really like I'll go out of my way to drop a review. So I gave Blacktree a try about a month ago after my usual barber quit his job at Floyd's 99. Blacktree was conveniently just down the street from my place but I was a little skeptical to try it at first as it seemed small from the street. Also, based on experiences at other places like Mr. brown's I thought it would be kinda pretentious and take forever to get an appointment and I just don't have time to make appointments that far in advance. My hair was getting out of control so I finally called and got ahold of Charlie, the owner. He was super friendly and it was no problem to get an appointment on a busy Saturday afternoon. I got there, and immediately was offered a beer and/ or bottle of water and was introduced to J.P. , who was going to be cutting my hair. I didn't really know what kind of cut I wanted so I just told him to clean it up a bit and basically just do what he thought would be best. This has bitten me in the ass a few times, but I figured, what's the worst that can happen? Plus, he's a professional so, he should know what looks best. I was pleasantly impressed. The haircut was spot on and more importantly, my girlfriend loved it! The other thing is that this place is filled with all sorts of cool, unique antiques and artwork including the chairs, which are pretty big and comfy. I figured I had a good haircut last time, so I went back today to get another haircut, again no problem to get in, but this time JP was booked so I got Giaccamo instead. Again, I told him to just do what he thought would be best and again I was pleasantly surprised! Again, my girlfriend loved it, so I'm stoked! Bottom line, for the price, this is the best barbershop experience I've ever had. When you don't have a lot of time to schedule haircuts a week or more in advance, let alone fit them into your schedule, It's great to know that you are in good hands no matter which barber you get. read more

I walked in thinking I was going to get a standard cut, but I asked G his opinion about changing it up and he gave me a suggestion. On several occasions I would go there and make an appointment with a barber who had cut my hair before and would say I got you, come back at a certain time. I would show up at my appointment time and the barber I made the appointment with would say, oh I gave you to another barber. The new guy who had never cut my hair before. Four times that happened. I recently got married and, as a gift to my groomsmen, I wanted to arrange a service to get them shaves, haircuts, or beard trims. After trying unsuccessfully with another business, I hit up Blacktree on Facebook messenger to see if they could help out. Within ten minutes somebody got back to me with an enthusiastic "YES". Every single dealing I had with these guys was top notch. Arranging the service, hanging out with the gang, the head-shave and beard trim, and payment were a complete breeze and as much fun as they had these dudes were professional as hell. I can't say enough about how much we all enjoyed it--not to mention how sharp we all looked afterward. Giacomo and the fellas hooked it up. The arrival beers...the nice bottle of whiskey...the camaraderie....the bullshitting...Pulp Fiction on TV....pulling out nosehairs....I can't say enough great stuff about it. The location of this place is great! The shop itself has the best vibe/atmosphere and all the barbers are extremely friendly. I usually get Giacomo, but whoever the barber is I never leave disappointed. If Charlie (the owner) is there you're guaranteed to have the best service/experience. Plus they offer you water or a shot haha take your pick. Next store there's a great coffee shop where my girlfriend hangs out while I get my cut.
