First cut from Jojo was okay. Took a long time, and he moved my neckline up way too far. Unfortunately, the second cut was really bad. He showed up 20 min late, then did a lot of strange, uneven cuts for my hair and beard. He spent 20 min on just the neckline, and it had this weird chamfer which I had to ask him to smooth out (still looked lumpy and bad when I left). Normally it takes a barber 5 minutes to taper my hair, and it would look much better than this. The mustache was poorly trimmed. Much longer on the left side than the right, and I had to clean that up when I got home. He also cut too far into the beard cheek line in one random spot so there's a gap in my beard. read more

I don't let anyone else in San Diego touch my hair. Andy runs a phenomenal shop- high standards, clean, friendly, and a traditional barbershop culture. He knows all of his clients by name, learns their preferences and truly "sells confidence." So I haven't been to the barber shop in almost 2 yrs since I moved from New York City. I also have long hair, so I wasn't really looking. I needed to clean my beard up, so I read a lot of reviews on barbershops in San Diego and Debonair Barbershop and Shave Parlor seemed to have the best reviews. I said "Why not?". It was super easy to book an appointment through their website. I had a 4pm on Saturday with Mateo. I arrived 10 minutes before my appointment and he was waiting. The barbershop is super clean and spacious and unusually calm compared to what I'm used to in NYC (Especially on a Saturday afternoon). Everyone was busy cutting and the flow of clients for every barber was steady. I noticed the staff and clients were very diverse as well. Black guy cutting a white guy's hair. Asian cutting a Latin, so all are welcomed and the barbers will take care of you with obvious comfort. Service get 5 stars because Mateo introduced himself and asked all kinds of questions to ensure he understood what I wanted. He even made sure to ask about how high to take the fade on my beard (to my temple or in front of ear) and if my skin was sensitive on my neck to a razor shave. I knew what I wanted, but Mateo provided a description of how he would go with one length, (3-2), and then lower my beard more, to (1.5-1), if needed. Long story short is that he delivered and I see why these guys get 5 stars often. Another barber even brought over some aftershave lotion and told him not to forget. Overall, I'm very satisfied with the service I received. I have another appointment booked next Friday at 7pm with another barber and I'm pretty sure it will be the same experience. If you need a quick cut you can also walk-in and whoever is available will take care of you. Be sure to give a tip! read more

Honestly the barber was friendly and pleasant, but barber did not follow direction or pay attention to reference photo, just did as he pleased, ended up with a haircut similar to what you'd get a big chain outfit, did not look anything like the reference or direction, even the length was different than what was asked for. This was by far the worst and most unprofessional experience I've ever had. The guy who cut my hair was completely incompetent, careless and lazy. He is reckless and dangerous with a razor and should not be cutting hair. He was checking his phone and texting every 30 seconds. He was looking away from my hair while cutting it because he was too busy joking around with the other barbers. I left with a bleeding, cut up neck and my hair cut uneven. 1. He did not want to wash the gel out of my hair because he said it will mess up his clippers. So my hair was cut uneven. 2. He cut my neck with the straight razor several times and gave me a crooked line up. He did not even use a warm towel to wipe off the blood and shaving gel. 3. He trimmed my beard and did not trim the mustache or fade it in from the sideburns. 4. He trimmed the hair on one side of my head and left the other untouched. I had to go to the bathroom and wash out the gel myself because he was too lazy to do it himself, after I insisted that the hair was cut uneven because he didn't want to wash the gel out. After I washed out the gel myself, it was clear that my hair was cut uneven. It looked terrible! 5. After having me neck cut up with a blade, getting the worst razor bumps I've ever had, and my hair cut uneven, the guy has the audacity to tell me I'm getting a discount and charging me normal price. There is no way he thought he gave me a half decent haircut. I was bleeding from both sides of my neck, had razor bumps around my crooked lined up beard and a terrible haircut. Avoid getting your haircut at this barbershop. If you must, do not let the guy in the picture anywhere near you with clippers or a blade. read more

This has to be the best shop in town. I know its definitely one of the busiest. Upon entering, they make you feel welcome and get you situated with a barber so you aren't just waiting for nothing. Main man here for me is Ruben, he's always on top of it and consistently gives amazing haircuts every single time. No need to worry with him in terms of consistency, he's the best. He does get pretty busy so I suggest booking an appointment. I do believe many of the barbers here see a ton of clients so booking for an appointment is highly suggested. Lots of street parking around the shop, or you can park at the parking structure just across the street located west of this barbershop. Highly recommend this place. read more
