It was my first time going to Roger's today and I can say with confidence that this is a very communal and welcoming barber shop. I got my hair cut by Roger himself and not only was it quicker than what I'm used to (upwards of half an hour at my old salon to 10 minutes here), but the hair cut was at the quality and style that I wanted - for reference I have very short boy cut hair and I like it pretty short and clean - I will surely be coming back! :) The only thing I will say is that they don't accept card which kind of threw me off because I don't carry cash and the nearest place to get cash is the 7 eleven across the street, and it gets pretty busy and bustling in there which didn't really bother me in the moment because I was preoccupied talking to Roger:) read more

We went there for my son to get a haircut, The Mexican lady with a blond hair messed up my son's hair. I don't know if she was on a hurry or what she did the haircut in less than 3 mins. The haircut was uneven we asked for fade side which she didn't follow, she also cut the banks so short my son's haircut was like a 3 stooges guy. Not Rogers Barber Shop any more. It's called Men & Women Haircuts. Only two barbers cutting hair due to COVID-19. You have to sign in a notebook, sanitize your hands and wait outside. Inside has renovated to to accommodate 6-feet social distancing. Regular cut is $10 and a fade is $12. Prices are reasonable and friendly customer service. read more

He was making conversation and seemed ok at first till he messed up on my son's hair. I told him he messed up on that part and it wasn't like the picture I showed him, and then the man started yelling at me. I mean yelling and cussing me out, he called my a "BITCH" several times and was throwing cuss words at me. Usually I don't tolerate when people say these things to me but he was really about to come BEAT ME UP. I was really scared for both me and my little boy's safety. He kept coming closer and threatening me, cussing at me. I told him to get back or I'll call the cops and he literally said "CALL THE COPS YOU BITCH." No customers were there at the time except for another barber lady that worked there. The fact that she seen what was going on and she didn't step in when her coworker was harassing me. She turned a blind eye and actually acted like she didn't see anything. I can see her in the corner watching and turning around as this was going on with me. I was extremely scared because my children were there with me and I ran the hell out of there. The man was just CRAZY you guys please stay away. I like this place. Friendly...family oriented (the couple of times I've been here there has always been a family there)...and of course, great hair cuts. I actually came here once to have a messed up haircut fixed - told the lady what I wanted and she fixed me up. Just a FYI, I always get skin fades and this place gets me lookin' fresh. First time I got a fade here, it was the younger look dude in the back. The second and third time it was the lady who should be the first one you see upon entering. I feel hecca cute when i come here and when I leave. Mainly because I like how the the Auntie Barber used to cut my hair back in the day when i used to rock a skin fade to complement my slick back hair that was usually covered in either Dep gel(yellow bottle) or LA looks gel (green bottle) . In my opinion, she did the best job! She used to call every guy getting a haircut "POGI" (handsome in tagalog) and make them feel special and good looking. "What would you like POGI?" "SKIN FADE please, but don't touch the bangs!" is all i needed to say to have my hair cut to perfection. My pops recommended Roger's Barber Shop a couple of years ago. This is where he goes when he's looking for that close cut. This is when cuts use to cost $7. Now cuts are $8, which is nothing. Love this barber shop. The layout is as old school as it gets and reminds me of the days as a little kids Since I have my own preference home in Las Vegas, I don't frequent Roger's as much as I once did. I tend to come here during the summer when my hair style is basically a buzz and when I'm in town. They also do trims, flat tops, and fades here. Not sure how good they are, but since there's a lot of loyal regulars, I assume they're happy with their cuts. Couple of things that you will notice when you come here for your cuts. 1. It's packed, especially on the weekends 2. There's usually a box of donuts, snacks, or Filipino treats on the table for their guest 3. 95% of the guest are Filipino. It's like a home away from home for me. 4. Their trimmers are attached to vacuums (i.e. old school Flowbee stuff) Even though this place is packed, majority of the guest have their specific barber that they go to. So if you're like me, where it doesn't matter who cuts your hair, the wait is minimal. Overall, I recommend if you're looking for the basic and quick cut. PS: Cuts are cheap. Roger's has a special place in my heart as I have been going to this barber since high school. On the first chair is Roger of course and without a doubt, he gives the best haircuts. Other barbers there are two pinay ladies who some of you guys call "aunties". One of which calls everyone "pogi". Roger's brother is on the far end. Their is a latina women and two other pinoy barbers as well. Notes of interest: A bit of history with Roger is that he's ex-navy so he often gets retired military guys. Across the street from Rogers is another barber, who Roger hates. Say "Salamat po" (thank you sir) after your done. Tip usually a dollar or two Roger's brother loves talking about women, sports, and both Roger and his brother are gamblers. Roger's brother loves to tell jokes. Unless you speak tagalog, Roger tends to mumble. Roger is a great barber and is an important part of the neighborhood of Paradise Hills/Valley. read more

If you need that expensive ass haircut, you need to work on some people skills, take a shower, take off that diaper, whatever. If you can get some, you'll get some even if your haircut is a $7-9 special at Roger's. Trim the sides, skin, little off the top, and you're done. The side comments you hear are funny if you can understand Tagalog. I always give a tip when I can. So save your cash and get your hair cut here for cheap. Continuing on a quest for a decent cut I return back to 'hood. I start asking around where people get their cut. Two of my friends say that they being going here to Roger's for years. Fair enough plus that sign that says $7 haircut looks quite nice. I get here early on a Sunday morning. As soon as I walk in I'm signaled to grab a seat in the chair. One fade with a trim on the top. For $7 I have to say that it was a good enough haircut. Had they charged me twice that this would have been a 1-2 star review. The old saying you get what you pay for comes to truth here. If all else fails and I can't find a decent shop than Roger's can always roll as a plan B. But why settle for good enough when you want to get right. read more

Been coming to Roger's since the mid 90's (jr high school). Practically grew up with this place! Wow! I'm old ha! Before Kragen was there and it was on the corner. It was really small back then but then they moved into where it's known now.. big upgrade! I usually get my haircut with anyone that's available. Most of them are pretty good in my opinion.. except.... A few months ago i gotta a cut from Roger's brother (not the uncle who use to have the pony tail, the other one with the short hair). As long as i've been coming here it was the first time he cut my hair. Wow, he messed up my hair! Let me tell you, I get a simple haircut.. "trim the sides but not too short and about an inch off the top".. that's it! I swear uncle gave me a step cut like i was in 5th grade.. wth?! ha! He fixed it a little but still.. I wasn't too mad because my hair grows pretty fast so i was back in a few weeks to fix it by the other barbers. Best days to come here are usually the weekdays. You'll get a crowd on the weekends for sure. Parking lot is kind of small and usually full on the weekends due to the other businesses in the plaza. I'm still a regular even though I moved out of Paradise Hills and live in east Chula Vista now. I can't really find any inexpensive and good barber spots around east Chula. This is the OG spot right here. I've been getting my hair cut here since I was little. I have my favorites but all the barbers are competent and I don't pick and choose. They are all real nice. My favorite is Roger's bro, he's been rocking that same hair style since 'forever and ever amen' ; the mullet hybrid pony tail thing going on, shit's gangsta. You'll be called things like "pogi" (Tagalog for handsome), and if your anywhere my age, "boy" or "home boy." It's always fun to see that same U.S. Navy Seals poster. And that other Navy poster with JFK on it. I didn't check, though, to see if it was still there as I was there earlier today. lately, I've seen that that all the chairs are being staffed which is awesome because it wasn't always that way. It seems that they're doing well and that it will be sticking around as long as it already has. I've noticed that the price went from 6 to 7 dollars. I don't mind this as it is still cheap. I don't hesitate to tip an extra dollar either. I always feel good walking out of there. Parking is a little whack. This place really sucks. The only reason I, and a lot of other people, go to this place is there is not that many other alternatives that are better. When I was a tween, Roger would cut my hair good, then he started jerking my head around like a pig about to be slaughtered, and now he's doesn't jerk my head around anymore, but he's lost his touch and ability to listen and follow simple instructions. After looking and failing to find a good hair cut place (whether barber or hair salon) I went back to Roger's as I did have a fav barber and I couldn't find a better one nearby. I got the name of her and I came today and got her as my barber. Her name is Liza. I told her number 3 and sides and little bit off the top .... which she did perfectly ... but then asked if I wanted her to "trim this' as she pointed to my beard ... I said, "that cost extra right?" and she said, "no it doesn't cost extra...I'll just do this part only ok?" so I said, "ok if u want" if it was just begging her to see me with all that facial hair... and I had no problem with her trimming that. BUT instead of doing that.... she cut my number 3 sides and back TO NUMBER ONE.... almost bald .... and cut the ENTIRE LEFT SIDE as I always hated that has happened the past 20 times since the first one messed it up. I don't know why she did considering when she showed me the mirror when it was number 3 I told her it was perfect. What a horrible place to mess up my hair so many times.. they are just lucky they are basically a monopoly and there are no other haircut places that costs less than $20. But in Liza's defense, this was the FIRST TIME she ever messed up my hair .... and she cut it about 20 times before.
