The front looked okay, but the back of the shop was kind of a mess. The floor had dirt all over it to the point that I could feel a layer of grit under my feet. The back room where he does the piercings was full of what seemed to be photography equipment. So not only is his floor filthy, the room that is supposed to be dedicated to piercings is cluttered with piles of other materials not related to piercings.
I've seen how other piercing places in Kingston look, (Iron Legends, for instance has a nice looking, clean piercing area), and he clearly didn't meet any standard that was close.
To give a little more context, I have 5 piercings, and every time I've gone to a shop to get something done, it looked nothing like this one. The piercing area was dedicated solely to piercing and nothing else. Sure I'm no expert in how the piercing business works, but medical-level cleanliness/sterility has always seemed to be a standard for shops. Things like a dirt-covered floor and a cluttered work space don't seem to be part of that.
He botched two nipple piercings (both too deep, one lopsided), another piercer looked at them and said that the piercings were too deep for a nipple piercing, and he refused to give any sort of monetary compensation for his mistake even though the piercings had to be taken out because he did such a bad job. So he got $110 for a service that he messily performed, that ultimately had to be undone for fear of compromising a part of a person's body.
He was rude and unprofessional about the whole thing, was offended by needing a second opinion on a piercing that he thought was fine, but was pretty clearly not well done, didn't provide any real sort of help with the problem, and refused to compromise on the matter of financial compensation. read more
