I recently relocated to the Dover area and started going to Mattheson Family Chiropractic after a family referral. I was intrigued by their approach to Chiropractic Health. This was one of the best decisions I have ever made for my health. My first impression was wonderful when I called to inquire about appointment availability. The receptionist was quick to answer, friendly, informative and helped me schedule an initial appointment. At the end of our conversation I knew about their philosophy and what to expect on my first visit. Upon arriving I noticed the office is neat, clean and, inviting. The staff is very professional, the building has a large, easy to access parking lot with a wheelchair ramp and ample accessible parking. When I first met with the doctor, he introduced me to their practice, listened intently to my concerns, answered my questions and offered suggestions on my treatment plan. I noticed that the scheduling is such that there is virtually no wait. Additionally, I was happy to find out they accept my insurance. There are two doctors here and both are AMAZING!!! I have been going for a couple of months now. I feel better than I have in 20+ years. Additionally, my tinnitus has virtually disappeared. In the past I have had slight improvements that lasted for a few hours. As of this writing, one ear is still silent after 7 days. The other ears ringing is so diminished that I can ignore it most of the time. My stress level has gone down. I didn't realize how much I was missing due to the constant loud ringing. My television volume is down 80% and I can understand our young grandchildren most of the time. As I am typing, this is bringing happy tears to my eyes. I have already recommended Mattheson Family Chiropractic to anyone that will listen. I will continue to refer everyone that I can convince, to give them a try. I highly recommend You give them a try. This entire office is amazing, from the front desk staff to the docs! Everyone is fun, the environment is relaxed and comfortable and the music is always on point. They have free coffee and even other patients are super friendly and inviting. Each doc has a different approach to your manual adjustment so I like to mix it up and see them both! The office is super flexible when booking, and as long as you let them know if you are running late, they fit you in somehow. I highly recommend this office to anyone in the area. read more

I've visited various chiropractors over the last 25 years, and this practice is by far the best. The technology they use to gently "tap" my spine into alignment is the perfect way to get me ready for a manual adjustment. I love that they include their patients in the treatment plan with practical advice to keep you in shape between visits. Their goal really is to improve how you feel for the long term, not to get you coming as often as possible. They might mention products you can buy to help with certain symptoms, but they don't ever give you the hard sell. The doctors and the front office staff are all very personable and easy to interact with throughout your visit. read more

To be fair, the receptionist I made my first (and only) appointment with was very nice and professional. Today I went there for my appointment and the place was a pig sty! There were magazines strewn about, music was very loud, and they do services in the waiting area. Materials used were yellowing and dirty and when I got into the room to wait for the Doctor, the adjustment table pleather was wickedly torn and discolored foam was sticking out. My husband recommended this place because everything was new when he went there in high school...in 1998. It's still the same stuff. Everything was overcrowded and creepy-looking and one of the receptionists was doing a back bend at the desk when I demanded my paperwork back. Nope. read more

My best chiro experience ever. I was dealing with severe back pain for 4 months and was in PT when I got my first treatment - combo of manual adjust, pro adjustment, and heat and stim. Yes I was a complete mess and had lost all hope I would ever be pain free. My neck and upper back felt less stiff immediately but the 5 stars is for the fact that the next morning I got out of bed pain free for the first time in 4 mos. My husband immediately could see I was moving more freely. I am such a thankful patient for the relief and my husband is transferring in based on my results. read more

Total sham! I was suffering from my first ever neck problem (super stiff and painful neck) and was recommended this place by my step-grandmother. First of all, they don't tell you that your first appointment is going to simply be an intake process where they charge your insurance company to stick you in a room to watch videos of "chiropractic propaganda" then make a follow up appointment after a week passes by where they stick you in another room and charge your insurance company to put a heating pad on you for fifteen minutes. Then you make yet another follow up appointment (by which time my stiff neck was gone just from the passage of time, but I was curious if my third appointment would actually receive some treatment) and they run this electric massage tool on your back (like one you could get from sky mall) and they proceed to tell you this "medical apparatus" pounds with the force of something stupid like 300 pounds, which may be true if it wasn't in the hands of weak "technician" whose own body absorbs 90% of whatever that thing gave. It felt like a baby kitten was walking on my back. Not cool. Total sham! read more
