Lovely turkey makes for a more thankful Thanksgiving.
Kathie B.

Recieved our smoked turkey for our Thanksgiving today. It is so flavorful, tender, and juicy. Smoked turkey is frequently on the dry side but theirs is not. I really appreciate their efforts.

Blacklands has some premium 'que, for sure. Everything is good, but there are two recent standouts for me; the smoked turkey is divine (yes, really) and is awesome on their huge, fresh, salad. The HUGE loaded baked potato was the other standout, fluffy, loaded with brisket bits... Easily enough to share. Take the detour off of 20, you'll be glad you did!

Holy good BBQ batman! We have been actively eating our way through the smoked meat mecca of Texas and I can tell you that this place knows their meat! We got the sample plate and ate like a king and queen for less than 40$. Portions are generous. Laid back atmosphere. Kind employees. Clean establishment. AWESOME SMOKE RINGS on all their meat. Their take home per pound price can't be beat either. NOT TO BE MISSED!

How far would you drive for amazing BBQ?! Well if you're ever on Interstate I20 freeway between Midland and Fort Worth/Dallas, then you must stop in Roscoe TX and taste some of the most mouth watering BBQ on this planet. WOW!! It's truly an Oasis in the middle of the desert and totally worth the drive if your within 100 miles of this place. It's that delicious!! And the service is great too. Sarah gave us very friendly service with a smile. The gentleman who was serving us was nice too. I asked if I could sample some of the meats before I made my decision. And he let try some of each. This is what I discovered from the taste tests: Jalapeño Sausage is good and not that spicy Smoked Cajun turkey is delicious and very tender The Brisket & Rib meats were ULTRA tender and had an amazing flavor. I had to stop there and ask how I can combine the 2. He recommended a Brisket sandwich with a side of ribs. Best BBQ Combo I've EVER had!! It's like sex for your mouth and I'm not exaggerating. Remember to add their BBQ sauce Honey BBQ sauce is good (located next to sides) But their "Regular sauce" found on each table is VERY flavorful. I found myself dousing that all over sandwich and ribs.

Stopped at this BBQ place on my way from Dallas to New Mexico. The original route I chose didn't include Roscoe but since I'm not in a hurry to get to my final destination, I allowed my instincts to guide me. Before I knew it, I exited on to Main Street and headed into the heart of this tiny town. I pulled over and looked up restaurants for lunch - there aren't many! Blackland BBQ had great reviews so I figured it was a good bet! Well let me tell you, I was NOT disappointed!! I ordered the brisket sandwich with baked potato salad. I was given a generous portion of juicy brisket on a fresh bun and I served myself the baked potato salad. You have your choice between the honey BBQ sauce and the traditional BBQ sauce. I had a little of both and both were delicious! The traditional was sweet and tangy. The honey was thicker and actually had a smoky flavor to it. The brisket itself was tender and juicy with a drool-worthy smoke flavor. I think I may have even drooled WHILE eating this sandwich!! I've lived in Dallas and Austin - both cities are known for their amazing BBQ. But I must admit that Blackland Smokehouse "smoked" the competition! Sorry - couldn't resist that pun ;) As an added bonus, the owner/staff were full of smiles and have a great energy! If you ever find yourself driving through Roscoe, do yourself a favor and stop here! I think it's worth driving out of the way for, honestly. As for me, I will definitely return!!

Great small town BBQ! If you ever find yourself in Roscoe, make a point to stop here. The locals love this place and we're proud to take us. I'd say it rivals Lockhart and Austin BBQ. I tried the T-bird sandwich and added jalapeños to it. The combination of Cajun smoked turkey (heavy on the meat) with the sweet coleslaw a day jalapeños was perfect. My friend got the flying pig: pulled pork, BBQ sauce, sweet coleslaw on a buttery croissant. She got the macaroni salad on the side. She loved both. Another coworker got the plow plowboy special. A loaded baked potato with brisket. That thing is so huge that there's no way 1 person can eat all of it. Another coworker got the prime rib and he enjoyed it. Service was quick and the staff was friendly. I'm coming back next time I'm is this part of West Texas.

Amazing brisket. It falls apart real well and has an incredible smoked taste. My coworker had the T-Bird sandwich and was really pleased as well. If you're traveling in the greater Sweetwater region, or making the trip from Abilene to Midland-Odessa, make a stop at the Smokehouse. You won't regret it. Say "Hi" to all the Wind Techs while you're there!

One of the top five BBQ joints you'll find within a 75-mile radius of Abilene. Brisket is first-rate and the ribs are very good.

Arrived and there were not many cars in the parking lot. As the reviews say, it doesn't look like much on the outside, but the food is really good. I think it looks very quaint on the outside, but inside looks like it was thrown together. Just inside the door is a pile of busted-up cardboard boxes lying on the floor. The place across the street is "Ban Moon", a Lao & Thai Restaurant, which has also been recommended for us to try. Their parking lot is full. Putting Ban Moon on the list. Bubba's Smokehouse dining room is filled with small tables and chairs, not much of anything else. There is a large cooler with lots of Brisket ready to be seasoned and smoked, along with large containers of Potato Salad and even larger containers of their Beans - and lots of containers of Pickles. Nice. They do have a loaf of white bread at each table for you to use at will, along with a roll of paper towels. The menu board is above the small counter where you order. My Wife went with the Brisket Sandwich with one side and chose Cole Slaw. I ordered their 2-meat plate, Brisket and Chicken. I asked if they had Moist Brisket, and the lady taking our order paused and said, well, the brisket is, well, moist. This also comes with 2 sides. I chose Beans and Cole Slaw. We also ordered 2 drinks, Diet Cokes. Orders are in, and we grabbed a table, which was easy because no one was sitting down. The aroma from the kitchen is filling the room, and it smells good. I grabbed a couple of containers of Pickles and White Onion pieces, and some silverware. Wasn't long before our food arrived in take-out containers, which is the best way to serve food at a BBQ place - no mess. My Wife's 'Moist' Brisket Sandwich has a lot of sliced Brisket piled up high, more than the other BBQ places around here, and a small container of Cole Slaw. My 2 Meat Plate has a Very Large Chicken Leg & Thigh with 2 slices of 'Moist' Brisket under. Speaking of Moist, I don't think these employees here know what Moist Brisket is because the Brisket we received is sliced regular Brisket. I first tried the Cole Slaw, and it is good. Love the juiciness and the fresh crunch. My Wife also liked the Cole Slaw. The Beans are a little dry and not much flavor until you get down to the juice in the bottom of the small container. My Large Chicken Leg and Thigh are just about lukewarm, with the leg being on the cold side. There is nothing wrong with eating cold chicken, but it's not what you want when you go out to eat. It's nicely seasoned and is Very Meaty - I like that. The Chicken itself is on the dry side, but I like the seasoning of the skin. The "Moist" Brisket is also dry because it's not a Moist Brisket, and a little tough, not tender at all, and it lacks any flavor. They do have 3 sauces for you at the table with a bottle of store-bought hot sauce. One sauce is Regular, and it's okay in flavor. The next one up is, I think, Spicy Sauce (the markings are wearing off), and it's not much different than the regular sauce. The sauce marked 'Hot' is on the mild side, but overall, they are all pretty good and provide added flavor to a not-so-flavorful brisket. I didn't try the store-bought hot sauce. The Pickles are delicious, with a nice crunch, and the white onion has very little onion heat to them, but they also have a nice crunch. The best I can say is that we tried Bubba's Smokehouse, but I doubt we will return. The best thing on our plates was the Cole Slaw, but my Wife did enjoy her sliced Brisket Sandwich, and she tried all of their sauces, regular, spicy, and hot. I ate one of the slices of Brisket along with a few bites of Chicken. The rest I'm taking home to see what I can do to improve what I can. Bubba's Smokehouse is not what we expected, especially since it has been recommended to us several times. We have yet to find a really good BBQ place in San Angelo, but we will stick to the one we usually attend until we do. Wherever we go out to eat, we always have fun and enjoy the outing. The Staff at Bubba's is very friendly.
