Wow, hidden gem , not sure why or what experiences other reviewers recall. This was our 1st time and it has been many years for us - the grandparents ( I have been wanting to take my grandkids 13, 8, 7 for a long time - we hope to go back soon! The marina is nice clean bathrooms and the workers that helped us were fantastic !!! 5 stars all the way around and very affordable- thank you and we loved the ice cream ! read more

Gas attendant and cashier were awesome! The restaurant and dock help were unnecessarily rude. The young men working there were talking poorly about our group for no reason in front of us. read more

The manager at this place is racist. First of all, my family have been coming to this lake every year as long as I can remember. Every year, we always had a great time. But this year was a different story. My sister had reserved our boat early before our trip. Im coming in town from Illinois to spend time with my family, so it's a pretty far drive. She had called before she reserved the boat to make sure that the boat we had wasn't an old janky boat. They told her that it was nice and therefore she reserved the boat. If we had known what kind of boat we got, we would have reserved the boat for the following day. When we went to check in and saw our boat, instantly we were disappointed because out of ALL of the boats, this one was the only one that had ripped on the seat, an unstable ladder to climb down on and an engine that could barely run. We went to talk to the manager, in which he immediately disregard our feelings and concerns. He did not offer any discount and cared about nothing but himself. Why do we have to pay the same amount of money as the people who had newer built boats? It's like a car, if the car is old, the value of it goes down. But yet we had to pay the same amount as everyone else. On top of that, he did not care about what we had to say and told us to either take the boat or don't. "I don't know what to tell ya". We kept explaining to him that we had made plans with all of our family to spend time at the lake, and he's telling us basically 'too bad'. We told him how it was unfair and he even put his hand up to our faces and told us "I'm going to stop you right there, either take the boat or don't. Nothing else is needed to be said". I was shocked when he did that and I felt discriminated but I didn't want to say anything. My fiancé is a manager at a hotel and he would never handle the situation the way this old manager did. We decided to take the boat and when we walked inside, we were explaining to the lady upfront on how the so-called manager handled the situation in a poorly manner, he then walked in and make the most stupidest comments of all time. He had the audacity to say "I just want to let you all know that I am not treating you any different or being racist because I have a family member that is Asian". He crossed the line. We didn't even say anything about being racism and now that he said it, he made himself racist. Because who would say that? It's complete bull****. My fiancé finally told him what he needed to hear because my fiancé is white and he didn't want to say anything up until now. I have never felt so discriminated in my life. And he can get fired for all I care after treating us like garbage. read more

I want to start off by saying how frustrating this place can be. I have been going here and renting boats from them for years! My family and I always visit mark twain lake every year and we always had a good time up until now. First of all, we have reserved our boats early and we even called before we reserved to make sure that the boat we rented was not the kind where it was sketchy and banged up. We asked if the boat that we reserved was nice and they told us, "yes". If we would have known that the boat we had was crappy, we would reserve for the following day. Fourth of July weekend came and we finally arrived to mark twain lake. When we went to check in, they gave us the one and only crappiest boat with the seats all ripped up and a sketchy ladder that had no stability or safety. We went to the from desk to explain our concerns, and she automatically stated that she is not the one to talk to. The one in charge is outside in the front. We went out to speak with him and immediately he disregards our concerns, brushed off the situation and told us that he can't do anything about it and that we had only two choice, "take the boat, or don't. I don't know what to tell you. I can give you a refund but that's all I can do". We explained to him how we wanted to make sure that we paid for the boat we asked for on the phone and he immediately put his hand up and said "I'm going to stop you right there. I don't know how many time I have to tell you. You can either take the boat, or don't and get your money back". We have planned our trip to come out here from out of town to be treated like trash. So we ended taking the boat because we already had plans to spend our family time at the lake. We walked inside and explained to the lady at the front desk on how he did not care about our concerned or made any accommodations whatsoever ever nor even gave us any discount for a crappy boat. Let alone, we had to pay the same amount of money as the other people who had a super nice boat with an engine that runs smoothly. With the boat that we had, you would expect a discount. But here comes the good part, right after we walked inside and explained to the lady our concerns, he then walked in and said out of nowhere "I just want you to know that I am not treating you different because I'm racist to Asians because I have a family member that is Asian". And that right there, he has crossed the line. Not only did he disrespected our family and belittled how we felt, he then wants to come in and say that he isn't racist when we did not even said anything about racism. My sisters fiancé was there and he is white and he told him to his face that what he just said was complete BS. Her fiancé held his tongue for the whole thing, then he had to make that racist comment. This place used to be fun, but now when I come here, all I can think of is the racist old man who doesn't know how to deal with customer service to be a manager. And I am happy that I was not the only person there to witness it. There was 7 of us and we all witness what he did. On top of that, when we took the boat out, the engine was fluttering and made this loud noise as if it was breaking down and the boat wouldn't accelerate. But this man legit stated he just replaced the engine. Complete BS and a unfair liar. read more

Interesting place - they advertised local BBQ but the "restaurant" part was empty and no employees to be found. we decided to rent a boat for the day - very easy to rent, drive, return, etc. - we would totally do it again. the marina...was very outdated...almost falling apart. they had a little convenient shop with candy, soda, fishing stuff, beer, etc. overpriced but you are paying for the convenience. the staff was very, very nice. read more
