We highly recommend Larry! We used Larry/Blackhawk Pest Control last year in the winter when we had a rodent problem. Larry was recommended by a family member in Minneapolis, as Larry had helped her with a problem with multiple mice. Larry did an initial visit and conducted a full inspection of the outside of the house, and sealed entry points he found. We appreciated his approach, which is that you pay a fee, and then he is committed to returning until the problem is resolved. He did end up needing to come multiple times, and each time, he evaluated the issue and adjusted his approach, keeping us updated. Ultimately, the problem was fully resolved. We had this Company last year to help with our Box Elder infestation. One treatment and we had great results. This year we had another service come out (couldn't remember Blackhawk). We have had to ask them to repeat the treatment because we saw small but little results. Blackhawk will be the only place we use in the future. And his prices were great. read more

I called and left a message because I was afraid we had a wasp issue (found two live wasps in basement within a five minute timeframe). Got a call back, and that call ensured I'll never call this company again. The guy asked for a recap of my issue. Then he asked, "So what do you want? Do you want to get on a service plan?" That seemed odd and salesy to me since it seemed obvious I wasn't just inquiring about a service plan. I said I don't know about ongoing service, but for now I need a one-time thing. After some more back and forth he said he'd squeeze me in the following day. I asked what time (seemed like a rational question), and he abruptly said, "When I get there." I mentioned that I work from home and was going to say that even a 4-5 hour window would be great, but he cut me off and said, "You're welcome" in a tone that was so rude I thought I had to be misinterpreting it. Then he said you're welcome a couple more times in the same tone and said I'm lucky he'll even squeeze me in. I said forget it and hung up. I can find a company that doesn't make me feel like I'm bothering them or that they're doing me a favor to take my money. read more

He arrived in the allotted time, answered all my questions and did a thorough job checking the house. We found a small exterior hole that was promptly sealed. I first contacted Larry when I found evidence of mice in my home. I couldn't sleep at all so Larry agreed to come to the house the next day which was a Sunday. Other companies wanted to charge a lot more and come in 2-3 weeks which was not helpful. Larry thoroughly inspected the house, found the hole that allowed mice to enter and closed it, and set out traps. He returned to dispose of the mice, check the traps and ensure that no new mice were found. Huge relief and haven't had any problems since. Since then, I hired Blackhawk for routine service to treat for box elders, spiders, etc. We had always sprayed for box elders ourselves but for about the same cost, Blackhawk is checking the whole house. I did research on many different pest control companies located in the Twin Cities. As soon as I came across Blackhawk's Yelp and their company website, I knew this was the company I would use for all our pest needs. I contacted the company and owner Larry returned my call a short time later. We scheduled an appointment for the very next day. Communication was great. He was running a little late for our appointment time, and was kind enough to call and give me an update to when he would arrive. Once here, he performed more than any other pest control service I had used in previous lived cities and states. He removed all cobwebs and any other obstacles from outside and inside the house if needed, and also located any entrances critters can get into the house. Then he fixes this issue by filling the outside hole. Next step he sprays outside and inside the house. There is absolutely no smell and the spray is not harmful to humans or pets. My indoor-only cats did not even notice he sprayed inside their domain. He not only sprays the bottom perimeter inside and outside the house, but also the top of the perimeter. The cost was less than other pest companies I called for a quote and Larry performed more work than other companies were offering. Larry knows the pest business. Highly recommend! read more
