Hi. My name is Holly and I'm a BEJ addict. I'm not even joking. The days I try not to go I end up there right before closing! I go through drink phases... but once I've ordered it a few times they remember my order which is crazy scary cool! I've tried and loved: - The Mudslinger Frappe - The Snowslinger Frappe - Iced Raspberry Mocha - Iced Vanilla Latte - Chocolate Cherry Cordial Frappe - Carmel Apple Smoothie - Chocolate Smoothie You can probably tell, I'm not one for hot drinks. Sorry, I can't speak to those! They also have a rewards program so you can earn a free drink! Oh, and they give out chocolate covered coffee beans for an extra kick! WARNING: Must be strong willed and non- addictive personality to try... or be willing to take on a second job to afford your new addiction. :-) #Addicted #BlackEarthJavaSummer read more

So for some reason they are using a very heavy perfume inside of the coffee shop, the last two times my coffee has actually smelled & tasted like perfume not coffee. The first time I threw the coffee away and chalked it up to someone with lotion on their hands. Today, I did go in to complain and the I didn't notice the smell inside because I had already inhaled so much of it on my coffee cup, but when I got outside, I realized my hair and my clothes all smelled so bad of perfume now as well. So instead of doing my errands I had to come home and take a shower and throw my coat in the washing machine and spray my Jeep out with alcohol. A coffee shop should smell like coffee and donuts not perfume. Very disappointed. read more

I love this place. Let me start with why I give 4 stars and not 5. Every time I order a latte, it always seems to taste like warm milk with a hint of espresso and flavor. It is literally every time which makes me believe it is how they as baristas have been taught to make their menu items. I continue to go here over the franchised and corporate coffee shops because I love to support small local businesses so I continue in hopes that it's just a new person. It seems as though it is habitual. Albeit this is a problem, it isn't enough to keep me from going back. The people who work there are lovely and they always have a smile which in turn makes for a great swing through. Along with this wonderful quality, they are always efficient which is something very difficult to come by with a drive through coffee shop. They have wonderful choices on their menu and don't over price. If you swing through this beautiful town and have a hankering for your caffeine kick, this is a great place to support. read more

BlackEarth Java Coffee - Wonderful service!! - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Spencer, Iowa

Black Earth Java deserves 25 out of five stars. This place is great and the service is outstanding. I go here so frequently that the employees know my order the second that I pull up to the window. The drinks are amazing and the coffee beans are delightful. I cannot explain how much I love this place. I do wish there was more than just a drive-thru though read more

Friendly service and great customer service. Love the little coffee bean treat on the top of my cup when I get my drink! Love coming here.

My favorite coffee shop in town. Drive up is convenient. They have reasonable prices. A full range of drinks you want hot or cold coffee and coffee drinks, tea, Italian sodas and spritzers. They also offer muffins, biscotti, and Umpqua oatmeal. During warm months, they have a picnic table for seating, with the Farmers Market is across the parking lot on Wednesday and Saturday. read more

I love black earth!!!! For everything from a traditional cup of joe, to espressos and lattes, to Italian and cream sodas, this is the place to go! Black earth gets it right every time. Don't be afraid of a few cars in line ahead of you either...they are quite quick, and used to putting out a quality product in lightning fast speed! read more

BlackEarth Java Coffee - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Spencer, Iowa

The drinks I ordered were supposed to be cold and they were warm and chunky Black Earth

My favorite coffee hut by far and I love my coffee! Baristas are so friendly and get to know their local customers. They use excellent coffee and monin flavoring (the only way to go). read more

Always custom-made/hand-crafted beverages just the way I want them. :-) :-) The baristas are incredible! Mudslingers are a go-to if I need sweet. Red Bull Spritzers or real fruit smoothies on hot days. Incredible whole leaf teas, gourmet oatmeals, scones like you have never had before, protein meal bars...you name it! read more

Good cup of coffee. I just get plain brewed coffee, with 1/2 & 1/2. It satisfies my addiction! Never received a burnt cup of coffee and that's a good thing! Always good, always consistent. read more

Started my addiction to coffee with Black Earth Java. Have tried plenty of others since and they just don't even compare. Even if they don't have it on their menu they will make it for you. Such great taste. Also all the workers are very kind. read more

One of the greatest cups of coffee that I've had in a long time. Very friendly and accommodating staff. In a location that is easy to find in a small shopping center and works thru 2 windows in a small kiosk and even though there was a line of cars, we were waited on quickly. Given a punch card and a chocolate covered coffee bean and asked us to come back again. I think we will stop by the next time we're in the area read more

Just stopped here for a espresso drink while on the road, very pleased with the drink (peppermint mocha) and the service, extremely pleasant barista. We went with the yelp reviews and we weren't disappointed, we have had a few bad experiences with yelp reviews. read more

We are (very much) regulars, we fill up our share of punch cards, lol. Great coffees and a good tea selection. Try a scone next time you drive through too! Their cold brew coffee is definitely the best around...perfect for summer! read more

Amazing coffee drinks! As much as I love coffee, I usually just make it at home, so I consider this a treat. I look forward to it every week, although I've never physically been there(someone else goes to get everyone's drinks, how nice of him!) Good thing we have a takeout menu, or I would have no idea what to order! My favorite summer drink is the mudslinger frappe, it is pure ecstasy. Try it if you like chocolate, caramel and coffee! I've also had the nonalcoholic butter beer, which is delicious. I'm also addicted to those darn chocolate covered coffee beans!! read more

Nice alternative to McDonald's coffee. The staff is very nice

If you are in Spencer, this is the place to go! So many delicious beverages, I couldn't say what exactly is my favorite- Too many! If I can't decide my go to is a mocha Bianca! Another thing I love is if I'm not in the mood for espresso per say they make fresh brewed iced teas & Tiger blood redbull sprizters (my hubs favorite) Great staff too! It's not your average mainstream drive-thru coffee shop, it's better. read more

Great coffee. Good strong flavor. Friendly staff. Tried the mudslinger that someone recommended and it was very good. Iced latte with breve is my go to. read more

Disappointing. My husband's coffee was weak and watered down. My latte was overly sweet (perhaps to cover-up lack of flavor in roast?). Staff was over the top and pushy. OK for drive-thru, but would not return. read more

Not every coffee is equal when beans are not fresh it is apparent, and if a smoothie is made from a powder it's not for me.

Used to love this place until recently. Every time my drink tastes different and the employees making your drinks act like they don't have any time for your business. I even said something to the rude girl before I left, about asking if there was management and she says IM THE MANAGER. Geeeesh. Definitely lost my business. read more

Big fan of black earth java. Whenever I'm in town visiting family I always stop here. The coffee is served hot and tasteful with plenty of flavor. I order the same thing a white chocolate bianca mocha toasted marshmellow. Not to mention the bean that they give you. Delicious coffee. read more

I tried a lot of places for a good chai tea. I found it to my taste over there. Tiny hut on the parking lot south of Spencer, the staff is nice, Im making sure I stop there every time I'm around. I like the "bean" touch as well. read more
