So for some reason they are using a very heavy perfume inside of the coffee shop, the last two times my coffee has actually smelled & tasted like perfume not coffee. The first time I threw the coffee away and chalked it up to someone with lotion on their hands. Today, I did go in to complain and the I didn't notice the smell inside because I had already inhaled so much of it on my coffee cup, but when I got outside, I realized my hair and my clothes all smelled so bad of perfume now as well. So instead of doing my errands I had to come home and take a shower and throw my coat in the washing machine and spray my Jeep out with alcohol. A coffee shop should smell like coffee and donuts not perfume. Very disappointed. read more

I love this place. Let me start with why I give 4 stars and not 5. Every time I order a latte, it always seems to taste like warm milk with a hint of espresso and flavor. It is literally every time which makes me believe it is how they as baristas have been taught to make their menu items. I continue to go here over the franchised and corporate coffee shops because I love to support small local businesses so I continue in hopes that it's just a new person. It seems as though it is habitual. Albeit this is a problem, it isn't enough to keep me from going back. The people who work there are lovely and they always have a smile which in turn makes for a great swing through. Along with this wonderful quality, they are always efficient which is something very difficult to come by with a drive through coffee shop. They have wonderful choices on their menu and don't over price. If you swing through this beautiful town and have a hankering for your caffeine kick, this is a great place to support. read more

Black Earth Java deserves 25 out of five stars. This place is great and the service is outstanding. I go here so frequently that the employees know my order the second that I pull up to the window. They also offer muffins, biscotti, and Umpqua oatmeal. In a location that is easy to find in a small shopping center and works thru 2 windows in a small kiosk and even though there was a line of cars, we were waited on quickly. Amazing coffee drinks! As much as I love coffee, I usually just make it at home, so I consider this a treat. I look forward to it every week, although I've never physically been there(someone else goes to get everyone's drinks, how nice of him!) Not every coffee is equal when beans are not fresh it is apparent, and if a smoothie is made from a powder it's not for me.

Disappointing. My husband's coffee was weak and watered down. My latte was overly sweet (perhaps to cover-up lack of flavor in roast?). Staff was over the top and pushy. OK for drive-thru, but would not return. read more

Big fan of black earth java. Whenever I'm in town visiting family I always stop here. The coffee is served hot and tasteful with plenty of flavor. I order the same thing a white chocolate bianca mocha toasted marshmellow. Not to mention the bean that they give you. Delicious coffee. read more
