My husband and I were engaged for three months so we had to plan fast. When we first contacted Our DJ we didn't have an exact date yet, we knew we wanted to do it September 5th (because of the holiday weekend), but had to make sure we could find the right venue & vendors. He gave us a quote and a run down of what it could look like if we were to contract with him & let us know he was available. We were excited! He helped me out a lot leading up to the day by sending me some possible outlines of what the ceremony and reception could look like. He was very flexible when I wanted to change things around. The day of he traveled to our ceremony site and made sure everything ran smoothly, and traveled to our separate reception site. He was early, looked professional, and was friendly to our guests. My favorite thing about our DJ was that although he does not speak Spanish he was able to get all of my Family up and moving through the night. He played classics to Recent top chart songs! Max was our wedding DJ and I honestly couldn't imagine a better dance party. We danced 7 hours straight at our reception and Max kept the hits coming the whole time. Towards the end of the night, I was exhausted but couldn't sit down because every song that he played was too good not to dance to. My husband and I were relatively picky with the type of music that we wanted played. We worked with Max and let him know what we wanted for our dance party and gave him a list of "must play" songs. From there, he took our style and ran with it. He played every song we asked for and every song that we should have asked for. We had more people that I can count say that was the best DJ and dance party that they had ever been to. We were married five months ago and to this day, we get compliments on our dance party. We could not be happier with Blackboard Music. We used them for our son's Bar Mitzvah. They made the planning so easy, and when we got to the big day every single thing was perfect - the music, the lights, the ability to get everyone (from age 4 to age 90) up and dancing, everything. Something that made it really special for us was that our son is somewhat picky with his music, and likes a lot of stuff that isn't dance music - and they worked with him to mix some of his favorite music into the event so that he could hear it during appetizers, meals, transition times, etc. Then when it was time to dance they had the perfect playlist that kept everyone engaged and dancing the whole time! Our event was a luncheon which we know sometimes isn't what people think of as dancing time, but our DJ created an epic daytime dance party. Everyone had a blast. We used Blackboard music for the DJ for our wedding and they were absolutely phenomenal!!! The DJ talked with us several times before, offering tons of wisdom/wedding advice. On the day of he coordinated the music and sound system for three different locations (ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception) perfectly. All the songs flowed well and he transitioned well between speeches to dancing etc. We had a Jewish wedding and our DJ got all our guests engaged for hora dancing and helped them along so it flowed well even for those who weren't familiar with that type of dancing. For the regular dancing portion of the night he was able to keep the party going for hours. So many of our guests commented on what a blast our event was and we owe a large part of that to the DJ for creating an amazing party with his music. The organization I work for always hires Blackboard Music for our events and conferences, and they never fail to deliver. Not only are they punctual and incredibly organized, but they have some of the best lights and equipment on hand for your event. They take the time to work with you on your needs and special requests and are incredibly accommodating and flexible. I had Blackboard music do my wedding for me. I can not put into words how impressed I was with them. I had an outdoor wedding with limited power (basically an extension cord) I was a little nervous because my DJ was unable to make it to my rehearsal (he already had a homecoming booked) but on the day of the wedding he showed up early with all his equipment, set himself up and everything went perfectly for me to walk down the aisle. During the reception, the dance floor was PACKED. Not only with my generation, but my DJ knew how to keep the whole crowd happy. My grandparents were out busting a move. Top notch! These guys know there stuff forward and backwards, I am a local wedding videographer, and I see a lot of DJ's, these guys are definitely one of the better companies in town. I have a couple go to names I recommend to my clients if they are in need of a DJ, and these guys are one of them for a reason. Max came out and played our all night grad party that we threw for Scappoose high school and he was amazing. Lots of DJ's out there that advertise great music, blah, blah. I've had some real duds who just sit behind their PC and follow a play list. He had all of the new hits and most of the old if you wanted to request it. Absolutely LOVE Blackboard Music. We had an incredible DJ at our daughter's Bat Mitzvah who was really able to read the room, figure out how to get kids and adults dancing, provided extra care in our needs including a ton of Israeli dancing music. The DJ was also helpful in figuring out some sound and light issues that we had. Overall great experience. The music was (appropriately) all over the map and really made the party. They were consummate professionals and kept the night going as planned (even with a surprise performance by a guest). Max is a key figure and integral part of OASC (Oregon Association of Student Councils). He makes our summer camps by the music chosen and his skillful presentation. Max is a professional.
