I got one tattoo 15 years ago in Portsmouth in honor of my oldest son, three kids later and I am thinking (mostly because the bastards are asking for "their" tattoos) that it is time to add on. This week decided to "test drive" this new studio with a small tattoo of two intertwining hearts in honor of my 20th wedding anniversary. Jaesun was very polite and did not talk down to me. It was not busy but probably because it is relatively new. It was clean and everyone seemed happy to be working there. I explained to Jaesun what I wanted, he designed it and we were inking it, baby. I definitely will be back for the next two I am thinking of getting. Bring Cash, that is all they accept right now.

He is very down to earth. Everything in the shot is spotless and top of the line. His room has a super comfy reclining chair with a huge tv with hulu netflix cable et. And you have total control on what you want to watch or listen to. On arrival check in was super friendly. Waiting room clean and comfy. Tyler Introduced himself took my photos and we had a pretty detailed discussion about what I hoped to accomplish. He took my idea and elated it considerably. He went back to his studio and came up with some stencils, worked my ideas and the final product was more than I could have hoped for. This is session one of two- hope to complete begining of Feb.

I went to 3 different tattoo shops to get an idea and a feel for their place before I decided on Merk Ink Tattoo Studio. I liked the vibe and feel of Merk Ink and I thought the woman at the front desk was very friendly and personable. It had been almost 21 years since my last tattoo so I was a bit nervous at first. She introduced me to Ireland who was very professional and made the entire session smooth and comfortable from start to finish. I decided on a small pumpkin with no color just above my wrist. The whole session took maybe an hour or so and I was obsessed with the tattoo once he was done - it was exactly what I wanted. It has been a week now and I can still say that I love my tattoo as it is healing and I am so happy that I chose Merk Ink! I will definitely be back to see Ireland the next time I visit Salem! He has done amazing work on my friends, family, and I. Not only is he amazing at tattooing but he certainly is great at piercings as well. A prior post on here says that a girl told her to go to hot topic for jewelry and that was a red flag. Well, there is no girl that works there, I was the customer waiting for someone to finish getting tattooed when she walked in asking for dermal jewelry. I told her hot topic and Steve told her piercing emporium. To give someone a bad review because they do not sell dermal jewelry(because they do not do dermal piercings) and a customer told you where to find that jewelry, is a bit extreme. It is not what he sells or where a customer told someone to go that determines if you are a good artist. I have an entire back piece by him and I am very thankful I chose him to do it. He created an amazing piece with meaning for me and all I did was give him ideas. Steve's ability to turn your ideas into amazing works of art is something you cannot find anymore. He is truly is the best tattoo artist I have ever found and I would never go anywhere else. The environment is very clean, comfortable, and professional. He is also great company as well. He takes pride in what he does and isn't just doing it to do it. He enjoys it and that is what makes a good artist.

I came in with an idea of what I wanted and when it came time for me to actually tattoo, Dave exceeded my expectations in design. It was so dope. During the session, we watched two movies on the huge projectors in the shop. We were in a temp space, I think, as they were renovating the main place. Either way, everyone I interacted with was super kind, really funny, and just all around great people. I left kind of sad as we had spent 4 hours pretty much kickin it while I got my tat. Looking forward to get more work done here with Dave! --------------------- Don't really know about the tattoos, but my piercing experience was great! I felt the need to get a nose piercing and found Pino Bros through Yelp. I walked in and it was pretty busy, but I immediately was greeted by someone at the front and was taken care of (already impressed). The guy that greeted me told me that it would only be a few minutes because someone was ahead of me which was fine. I didn't mind. I only waited maybe 8 minutes until Aaron walked up to me and introduced himself. He immediately made me feel comfortable and I knew it was going to be a great experience.
