He responded within the hour (fantastic!) and we made an appointment for him to come out and look at my yard to give me a cost. He showed up on time, he was super polite and very reassuring that he was listening to what I wanted. Things were going well and I decided to inquire if he could do some additional work to help get my yard into shape. I wanted one large area tilled under so I could plant my vegetable garden, clean up all the weeds around the yard, front and back and lastly fix a couple of broken items. He gave me a ballpark estimate (when doing repairs, always allow for extra in case they find something not planned on) and scheduled the work for the next day. They showed up on time, ready to work. He went above and beyond with his customer service, being friendly, candid, and honest. He's The type of businessman of bygone decades, in which treating a customer with kindness and respect means a great deal. Truthfully, the lawn services we were looking for were for a lawn that has gotten way overgrown, being the property owner in a elderly, disabled, Marine veteran who hasn't been able to physically keep up in the yard work for years. We had Black Star plant 6 new trees and 3 plants in our backyard in August. They were very responsive to my requests when I made a couple of changes. By the end of September, 2 of the trees were dying. Friends told me the trees should be guaranteed. I called Black Star and they came and replaced them. He mentioned most nurseries don't give guarantees for trees once they are planted. He did not ask for compensation when he could have. After calling around and found out he was right, we wrote a check for what we felt a fair amount for time/materials. He is honest, responsible and hardworking.
