    Chop Salad & Chardonnay
    Melissa L.

Was looking for a healthier option during my layover and found this spot for lunch. Variety of seating, and grabbed a counter seat looking out at the people walking. There are plugs at every seat, so perfect for charging your electronics. Ordered a glass of Chardonnay, which was brought out quickly. Decided to eat here because they had several salad options. Chop Salad-Lettuce, cherry tomatoes, garbanzo beans, kalamata olives, hot salami, mozzarella w/red wine vinaigrette. This was exactly what I was looking for and glad I found a tasty salad versus your standard carb-filled airport options. I enjoyed my refreshments, salad & peace, prior to my next flight.

Chicken, feta, olives, onions, and roasted red peppers

One of my co-workers who lives in the area told me to try this place. I had high hopes, but they were quickly dashed. I did the 'build your own pizza' with chicken, feta cheese, Kalamata olives, and roasted red peppers: a recipe for awesomeness, or so I thought... but not this time. The pizza was overcooked. Most of the crust was unpleasantly crispy and charred (which is to be expected to a degree, but there's another pizza place in the airport that prepares pizza pretty much the same way and their crust is absolutely perfect!) I didn't even finish it. I took it with me in case I get hungry on the plane, but ultimately I ended up throwing away the rest.

Three stars because the pizza is good, but it can't hold a candle to my hometown pizza. I'm from the New Haven, CT, area where we have Pepe's, Modern, Sally's and more. Nothing else will compare one my mind. The standard pizza is six slices and more than enough for one person. I went with the cheese pizza and added meatball, but for some reason it came out as ground beef. The flavor was o.k. but it wasn't a meatball flavor and not at all what I was expecting. I had 2.5 slices and then called it quits. What will shock you most are the drink prices, nearly $16 for a simple cocktail seems a bit high for a Minnesota airport. That's more like NYC pricing, but to be expect while traveling, I guess. When I was there, dinner time on Thursday, the bar was jamming and there just wasn't enough staff to help out. Meaning that there was a long wait to order and to get drinks. Next time I'm here, I'll try a different restaurant.

Spicy salami and crushed chili pepper pie

Go for the pies, stay for the brews on tap, but definitely skip their overpriced and underwhelming bloody Mary's. I'd definitely recommend their hot salami & dried chili pepper pizza; as well as the meatball and ricotta pizza.

The pizza and wine here is good but not great. The ricotta was tasty but I scraped off all the fennel sausage which was gross. The downside to this place is how slow they are. Several people got up and left because the service took forever. I mean they are slower than dial-up internet. jeebus.

If at Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport and looking for a delicious and quick bite to eat - look no further than this place. We had about an hour before our late afternoon flight and decided to stop by for some pizza and salad. The place was not busy and the wait staff were very friendly. We ordered a chop salad, and a Fennel Sausage, Hot Salami, Onion & Cracked Green Olives pizza. Both items were customer favorites on the menu. Food arrived quickly and tasted great! We could see why they were both customer favorites. Pizza was fresh out of the oven! Highly recommend if you are traveling through MSP!

Absolutely the best place to eat in the airport - great food, great drinks and great service. I travel a lot and come through here almost every other week. I make it a point to give myself enough time to grab a dinner here (it's so worth it!!). Desiree has become "my regular" - I make a point to sit in her section. She knows me and places my order when she sees me coming in (always the same: #3 with an old fashioned - I highly recommend it!!!). Great conversation - she takes the time to know everyone. Bottom line: Don't walk by. Stop. Have a bite to eat and a drink. Always good, always fresh. You will not be disappointed.

We are on search of a new go-to dining spot for pre-airplane "fun" and decided to try this outlet of famous Northeast Mpls spot located in prime real estate in the main concourse. Our flight was at 1 so we stopped by around 11:15 and after choosing from the intriguing menu we learned they were "out of fennel sausage" - What!? Hello?? how can a pizza place be out of sausage on a Thursday at lunch??? One strike against them already. After going back and forth on what to order we opted to share a pizza and share a salad. We got the house salad which while tasty, was absolutely drowning in the flavorful olive oil dressing which necessitated very careful eating so as not to stain my shirt. We ended up ordering the meatball and ricotta specialty pizza which arrived crispy and hot in about 10 minutes. Sharing a pizza and salad was definitely the right amount of food for lunch. However i don't think I'd order that one again - to my palate the thinly sliced meatballs had a curious taste (a little soapy) and if I were to get a salad ask them for the dressing on the side. It's also on the spendy side-$32 including tip for 1 salad and one pizza (we just had water to drink). Alas, still in search of my airport go-to dining spot. The hunt continues, stay tuned.....

We got Chicken&tomato&pepper (#8). It was delicious and good for airport meal. It was fine for two people. The price was reasonable. You can get tram to get concourse Cs from black sheep (which is located at intersection of aisles for gate D,E,G), if you're in hurry.

I love going to the other Black Sheep locations and was excited to get a pizza there at the airport when I had a somewhat short layover. It was terrible. The crust was so burned on the bottom and edges that only about 1/2-2/3 of the pizza was edible. The vegetables were completely soggy like they had been sitting out all day without refrigeration before they were put on the pizza. The only good thing was that the sauce had typically good taste to it. But certainly didn't make it worthwhile for a $20 pizza. Unfortunately since the pizza took so long to cook, I didn't have time for them to make it again and not burn it. I guess that is the problem when you have a flight to catch. Really bad pizza and service. I would highly recommend the regular restaurants for Black Sheep and not the airport one.

Fun decor in main seating area

Black Sheep Coal Fired Pizza is one of several new restaurants and shops in a nicely done remodel at MSP airport. I grabbed a seat at the bar to order a drink and a pie. There are plenty of seats at the bar with purse hooks underneath, as well as more table seating to the side. They also have a separate to-go order area, nicely positioned on the far side of the shop. The menu was solid with the exception of no wine or beer menu, meaning you not only don't know what they have but you also don't know the price. Perhaps a growing pain of a new restaurant? 5 - Ambiance. It's bright and welcoming, and the layout works well. 3 - Service. They did their job but absolutely nothing more than that. 4 - Price. A reasonably priced pizza, especially for an airport which always tends to be high. 3.5 - Pizza. I did a make your own with canadian bacon and fennel sausage. It was generously loaded with meat. Knowing this now, I'll order just one meat next time and save the extra topping fee. The pizza was tasty, well cooked and well flavored. I was able to get fresh parmesan on request and spicy pepper flakes were available at the counter. My one complaint my pizza arrived warm, not hot. How can a pizza right out of a coal fired oven not be hot? All in all, a great first visit. I'll be a frequent visitor here for a nice dinner before long flights home.

Pepperoni and mushroom pizza. Good stuff!

I rate my places based upon experience. If my experience is good, then I give higher ratings. Additionally, I'm realistic about my expectations. I consider where I'm at and go from there. No, Black Sheep isn't a New York or Chicago pizza place. But you know what, the pizza is pretty darned good CONSIDERING it's in an airport and the service is great. I wish people would stop being so arrogant and pompous when reviewing and be fair while doing so. Use your heads and get off your high horse and stop complaining about prices when you're in an airport. It isn't the establishment's fault, as that fault belongs to the airport itself. Black Sheep tries hard and does a great job given with what they have to work with.

Burned it because they forgot to put the order in.
    Earl S.

Well, I was excited to try it. Then the Diet Pepsi machine wasn't working. Then the table with 3 pizza gets theirs before I get mine, even though they ordered after me. Guess the sausage pizza is a popular one since mine was given to a "to go" order. Strike . Well, see the picture for strike 3.

The location is convenient for people attending downtown events, although when events like that are going on and you just want to park somewhere and try their food, that parking can be challenging. Detroit-style pizza is unique. It comes in thick rectangular slabs, and the crust is unusually airy. They have interesting concoctions to try, incorporating different types of peppers as well as whipped honey and pineapple relish. For my first visit, I got a cacio e pepe pizza, which had actual noodles on it that were surprisingly cool. The second time I came, I had a single slice with pepperoni & sausage, and I can confirm that I really like their pizza. When it comes to pizza, my preference is normally for either Neopolitan or New York style, but these squares are tasty and satisfying to eat. I also got "Pizza Rowls", which I loved. With that entree, you get three long things that look like big egg rolls but are stuffed with tons of creamy cheese, sauce, and meat. It also comes with an arugula salad. It all tasted great. They have very friendly service, although I was forced to sit at the bar this last time because of the crowds. I don't like bar seating and in hindsight it seemed like I would have had a table if I'd just waited a few minutes instead of the half-hour I was told to expect. They're new at the moment so they might still be figuring out their flow; they have plenty of tables so you'll probably generally not have an issue there. They have a special Sunday brunch menu that is intriguing as well. You should totally try them out!
