Okay, so back to my darling Rue 52... Leith is just amazing, both technically and personally. The haircut was fantastic: she explained her process, then she dry cut me, shampooed me, cut some more, blew out my hair, and then stood me up to dry cut me again- very meticulous, lucky for me! She also styled my hair really cute by putting in some waves with a styling wand, which I am fairly certain was built into the cost of the cut. (Next time I book with her, I'll make sure that I have fun plans afterwards instead of running errands!) I also need to add that she gave me the BEST shampoo of my life, complete with a long head massage that alleviated a nagging headache that I had due to a small cold- no joke! I especially enjoyed my cut because she was fun, but also laid back. I will certainly return to Rue 52 for the amazing service as well as the welcoming, fun atmosphere.

Told her I had no idea, other than I wanted a little zing of color - maybe something underneath? And she helped me pick a color and a gameplan. We did just a hint of this gorgeous red/purple/cherry cola-ish color underneath, and a medium brown to cover up a few of my grays (I mean, a few of my strands of glitter, lol) And then she put a couple long soft layers in (havent had layers like , ever, and was very apprehensive). I think it turned out great. I'm already thinking about how we might up the game next time I go back. :) Pricewise, we came out to $155 (before tip) for the cut & color, which included a $40 conditioning treatment. Not sure if that treatment its somehtign I'll need every time, but it was worth doing this time. Also, Cianna recommend some hair care and products but did not push a hard sell (which was very nice). The salon was pretty busy when I was there (a Friday afternoon) and all the other clients looked like they were getting great cuts/colors as well. Since it was my first time there, I have nothing to compare but I *think* maybe some of the salon was a little under construction - maybe a bit of a remodel, becuase the seating area under the dyers and some of the area area around the washing station was a little cramped (not "spa" feeling) - but based on other reviews about hte atmosphere, I'm guessing this might be temporary. The barber who usually does my hair, Garrett, is thorough, easy to talk to, and is excellent at his craft. Prior to the pandemic I loved the 'water, coffee (black), or beer' offer customers got upon entering. Hopefully we get back to those days sooner rather than later. Since COVID hit, Warfleigh has adapted nicely with dividers in between chairs, masked barbers (and customers) at all times, and being able to schedule appointments (clutch!). Overall, the experience and the quality make Warfleigh easily worthy of five stars. The 30-45 minutes in this building are enjoyable ones. It's how a barber shop should be, and Warfleigh certainly delivers.

Finding a good salon is like dating. I've had to go through several mediocre experiences (or "bad…read moredates") to find the right place and the right stylist - but finally, I found my match. Salon 6 is just north of the main Broad Ripple village off of College Ave. My favorite thing about this salon (other than the haircuts I get) is the overall atmosphere. It has a small boutique vibe that is relaxed and unpretentious. The staff is always friendly and accommodating and offer you a drink of choice while you wait. The waiting area has a little bit of a New Age feel with some beautiful stones and crystals and local artisan jewelry. It immediately feels very relaxing. They have a few complementary add on services you can choose from, and I especially enjoy the Vitamin D lamp in the winter when I'm missing the sunshine. My stylist, Heidi, has given me some of the best haircuts I've ever had, hands down. When I booked my first appointment with her she took the time to talk about what I wanted and ask me questions. After allowing my hair to grow for a couple years and really doing nothing with it, I was looking for a "long shag" cut which I had asked for from other stylists at other salons that never seemed to turn out the way I envisioned it. Lucky for me, Heidi is spectacular at shag cuts and also specializes in razor cuts, which can be difficult to find. I told her I was ready for a change and to go for it and the results were even better than what I had in mind. Since then I've received multiple compliments on my cuts with an added comment "that's the kind of cut I've been wanting and I can't find someone to do it right!" My visits are always pleasant and relaxing. I never feel pressured to chat or make small talk, but when we do it's easy and laid back. I always leave with a fresh cut and style that makes me feel like I just treated myself to something luxurious without the feeling of a stuffy, ostentatious "luxury" salon where everyone leaves with basically the same haircut, color, extensions, etc. Salon 6 not only meets what I'm looking for in a salon experience, but Heidi takes it to the next level with her killer haircuts.
