They tend to increase the stock of goth clothes during the Whitby Gothic Weekend (and it seems they also increase their prices too!). If you're looking for a gift that's a bit different for someone then this is the place to go. They also have some amusing greetings cards which I always check out when I visit. The clothing they sell varies from 'hippy' to 'goth' so you can definitely buy something that will make you stand out from the crowd here! I tend regularly visit to buy incense, make up and jewellery from Venus Trading but not clothing. They have some great clothes but they're all a bit out of my price range and, as it's not a big shop, they don't have a good range of sizes.

They often have some unusual and good quality household items. I like a look around the counter area as this is often where you see something a bit different. The shop is situated amongst residential properties so the only parking is a limited amount of on street parking. The shop is very small and compact but does manage to have quite an extensive range of wallpapers and they have display boards outside showing off some of their lovely range and will no doubt attract a lot of passing trade as the shop is on a main road in to the town centre. Being a smaller store it is a little more expensive then the bigger DIY chains but they do have some unique and high quality wallpapers in stock so it is worth a look if you are after something a bit different. The staff are knowledgeable and able to offer advise on how much paper you need etc.

When you walk in nothing grabs your eyes other than the space. However on finding the section you want you will not be short of selection as there are many many cards to choose from. There is a lovely display of those little extras you might need when looking for the little something to finish of a gift or even to give as the whole gift. There are boxed cards, gift cards and lots of chpice of good quality wrapping paper. Beware when you get to the till as just like all those card shops there are really nice little bits to tempt you to part with more of your money!

Despite being quite a small shop it does have an extensive range of books covering many genres. the shop owner is always happy to order any books for you iof he can. I love just meandering around and browsing at the books, there is no push to force things on you and it's nice to feel free to browse at your leisure. It's a very good shop to take children to introduce them to the wonders of reading.

I bought some new games for a kids group and they were really happy that they were going to a good home. There are clothes and bric a brac. The stock of books is good and they often have older books which I find fascinating.I dont mean expensive first editions but stuff you remember from years ago and enjoy reading again.The area and the shop are well worth a visit.

Interesting little place, this one. Basically its a second hand bookstore, and unlike most of the…read moremodern book stores, its feels like and old fashioned book sellers, and even has the smell of an old fashioned book store too. There are plenty of books on display - so many that you may find it difficult to find anything you're specifically searching for, and many of the titles are the older titles. While there are some more modern (ie - published in the last ten years or so) titles on offer, the majority are older. There are both literature and reference books on sale, in varying degrees of condition from good to just about acceptable. In addition to this, there are also a range of comic books and old magazines (a wide range of titles such as murder casebook for example, if thats your thing) and they offer a title search service to help you find a specific title which they might not have in stock. On the downside, it usually looks a little untidy in there with piles of books on the floor. The big 2nd hand places in London and so on look much tidier, and quite a few of the books on sale are expensive to say they arent of any real value and in sometimes poor condition, but its worth a look if you're in search of something specific or even just browsing for a casual read.
