Bait and Switch: please see pictures. I ordered the "Designer's Choice Premium Rose Vase Arrangement- Deluxe" for $99.95. Final bill came out to $160 with chocolate, tax, tip and relay fee. Not sure what the relay fee is because shipping was listed as free at checkout. The advertised picture for what I ordered shows over 2.5 dozen roses (see pictures for the advertisement I ordered). They have a disclaimer saying the arrangement might not look exactly the same, but the overall look and theme will be retained. They also specify that roses may be substituted for flowers of equal or greater value if roses are not available. They ended up sending a 10 or 12 roses with a ton of filler leaves (see pictures). I do not think filler leaves are equal or greater value to roses. I was pretty mad because I really wanted it to be special like the advertisement because it was our 10 year anniversary. I ended emailing the florist complaining about how they messed up the arrangement. They agreed that the arrangement they sent looked small and that they would send out another one. I asked if it will look like the advertisement. There response was "I should have bought an arrangement that specified the number of flowers and that each flower goes by a cost per stem count....". I paid a total of $160. I am pretty sure you can get something better from the grocery store for $40 max. Maybe $50 with vase. I was not to hopeful for their second attempt. The new arrangement had maybe 14 roses and a ton of fillers (see pictures). Nothing they sent came close to the "theme or look" of what they advertised. They should change their stock photo if they are not going to deliver on it. The only positive I can give is that they gave me a refund. I would stay clear from buying from Black Iris online. This little shop has some neat gift items and some pre-arranged floral arrangements in a cooler near the front if you're in a hurry and need something quick. They have gifts, vases, chocolates, soaps, snacks, and Knick-knacks galore. It's fairly big and the back right space is dedicated to wedding and event planning. Pricey on the gifts with small bags of chocolate running about $25 or so. No one greeted me or said hi while I browsed despite my seeing and nearly bumping into the owner 2 or 3x while he printed some things and went back and forth between spaces. read more

After spending over one hundred dollars on a large bouquet to be delivered to my wife at work (the most fun place to get a rose bouquet) for her birthday, the flowers DID NOT MAKE IT. Moreover, I had to call repeatedly to track them down as no emails, confirmations or otherwise were ever sent out. Instead, they re-routed them to our house....I could have done that myself! Yes they arrived. But, the whole point was to have had them delivered to her at work. I feel totally cheated. Her birthday fell on the Friday before Mother's Day; HOWEVER, If the company can't make the delivery window (which was almost the entire day) happen they shouldn't continue to take orders for that day. I used to live in Virginia Beach and remembered the Lynnhaven Mall area. I googled a local florist and noticed there was one inside the mall. I needed a simple bouquet for my nephew's senior night. My request was a bouquet of green, blue, and white. I should have known that something was wrong when the person from the back asked the cashier to ring up 20 dollars. Typically I do not pay for anything that I haven't seen. He literally came back with 4 flowers - 2 white and 2 purple and apologized for my wait. I was on a time crunch and had already paid, so I literally left the store through JC Pennys and handed this poorly arranged and horrible display to the friendly cashier at the door of the men's department. I made my way to a real florist and let that be a lesson to myself to not pay for anything before looking at it myself. And I will make sure to tell all of my family and friends not ever to go there. 20 dollars for 4 cheap-looking flowers - I support small businesses. Jason got a beautiful orchid plant to my 92 year old mom's hospital room the very day I called. It mattered so much! It let my mother-in-law know we cared even though we weren't able to be there in person. Ok, so she knows we love her but I wanted a physical presence at her side in that cold environment. THESE GUYS WERE INCREDIBLE!!! I see some rough reviews here so I am not sure what the deal is but they blew it out of the Water for me! I live in California and my sister was graduating in Virginia Beach and I wanted to send her flowers. I am an idiot and forgot about the time difference. I caught them about 10 minutes before they were closing, apologized profusely for my idiocy, and begged them to deliver a bouquet and chocolates to her hotel for her (I of course encouraged a delivery tip because that's a large favor to ask of the service industry as they're about to close). They worked with my picking out a Gorgeous bouquet and excellent chocolates. They maintained a killer attitude and were sympathetic to my situation. They even sent me a photo of everything before they sent it over. The delivery made it INTO her hotel room so they were on the table when she got home from graduating. I ordered a$85 bouquet for my best friend that suddenly lost her mom the day prior. They website does show 3 variations of the bouquet which I was fine with all were beautiful. (Left picture is one of them). My friend sent a picture with a thank you and i was floored that it looked nothing like the pictures of the flowers i has picked out. The bouquet that was delivered (on the right) has huge fillers ( that die quickly) and not as many roses. I did call the florist and he said they would go pick up the other one and deliver another and that my friend should take another picture because the one i emailed him was the "back" of the bouquet . I said absolutely NOT She is grieving a sudden loss & I won't have her take another picture (without asking she sent me a pic of the front) only because i said it wasn't the right flowers. I ordered a premium Golden Slumber funeral spray for a beloved family member from Black Iris. The product delivered was not the quality I ordered. The product that I ordered was not what I received. I expressed my concerns both in email and by phone. The person I spoke to on the telephone on Thursday 11/5/20 identified themselves as Todd the owner of the shop and said he did the floral arrangement and the Money I spent was in the display. I provided photos of the product delivered and the product advertised. I have attached the photos to this review: A photo of the product received and a photo of the advertised product on the website. Judge for yourself. How would you feel if you received the product we received? I ordered a premium funeral spray. The premium spray is the highest price in most lush version of the product. What was delivered was not a premium funeral spray. It does not look like the Advertised product. The delivered product was sparse and did not have the abundance of flowers expected nor advertised. I understand sometimes there are substitutions and flowers but generally there is adequate substitution in my experience. This did not occur in this instance. I was very embarrassed buy the product delivered. I have ordered this same product from another vendor for a funeral out of the area. I know what it supposed to look like in person. I have pictures of that product as well if I needed to compare. I ordered for delivery on Tuesday 11/3/20. Wincing seeing the display in person at the funeral visitation, I was shocked and appalled. I emailed Black Iris on 11/4 Wednesday. I called on 11/5 Thursday and talked to a man that identified as Todd the owner of the man that had done the display. I had to ask three times to get a name. Again he said the money was in the flowers, he wanted to make it right, and he stood by their product. He would call me after he reviews the photos I sent him by email. I received a return email from Todd on Saturday saying he would call me. He did not call me. I sent a follow-up email a week later 11/11/20. I have given Black Iris A week and a half to discuss this with me further and make it right. At this point I feel no other recourse to put them on social media blast due to inferior product and not addressing the situation properly. Buyers beware. I have my emails, photos, and phone records. I made a cake for my nieces wedding. She used Black Iris. It took a lot of calls and emails to get them to take my money ($75, which is totally fine) for a vase of flowers to be used to decorate the cake. That was irritating but I was assured I would have a bouquet of flowers in a vase in fresh water on the cake table for my cake. They charged me but never sent me a receipt or invoice, despite my asking repeatedly. At the venue, they took some flowers from my nieces centerpieces to give to me because they didn't have my bouquet. They had floral foam on the short cut stems. I didn't discuss this with them at the time because the bridal party was all around. The delphiniums I was given were dying. I salvaged three flowers. The roses were pretty. There were two other kinds of flowers I didn't receive to use that would have tied the colors more in to the wedding. I called two days later to request a refund. I was told they'd take care of it and brusquely rushed off the phone. I live in Richmond so I can't just go down there. Three days later I had a refund of $30, which I guess means they took $45 worth of flowers from my nieces centerpieces that she paid for. I want to tell her she should get a refund for those flowers but I don't want to make her look back at her wedding day with irritation so here I am, reviewing on Yelp. What I received as a flower arrangement was not what I ordered, it was woefully done compared to the picture on the "Blossoms" web site. This is not what the picture on the "Blossoms" web site shows. Black Iris must be a sub contractor for the Blossoms web site. The arrangement I ordered was called "Brilliant Blooms". It was anything but that. There were supposed to be multiple red roses and purple iris. There was only 1 yellow rose in the whole arrangement, no other roses at all. There was only 1 purple iris. I am terribly disappointed in the product I received especially for Mother's day and what I paid for the arrangement I received, I even tipped 20% on top of that. The shop that they are supposed to deliver is 2 miles away from the florist and they still didn't get it delivered on the day. I tried calling them but I can't even reach them, I called the mall security to connect me to the store and when I got the chance to talk to the staff they said they will check the delivery and call me back but they never called me back. I gave them instructions that the person receiving the flowers will be at the shop from 8am to 6pm and they still didn't get to managed to deliver the item. I am so annoyed and I didn't even got to receive any call from them. I paid over $100 for this and it's not worth it. Only received one star so I could write this review... Placed a Deluxe order of the Birthday Wishes arrangement for my boss's birthday to be delivered on Monday, March 7. I received a call Monday morning from the florist telling me that their flower delivery truck was going to be late, and they would not have the exact flowers available that I ordered. Since I had ordered from Black Iris Florist several times over the past years and had always been pleased, I wasn't worried and expressed my trust in what they could do. BOY was I WRONG! To start the arrangement arrived in a metal oblong bright green container, that evidently had handles on each side but, that had been torn off. Leaving the holes where they were attached sharp, very noticeable, and very much an eye sore. Looked like something I would have discarded to the trash can! Secondly, the flowers looked like they had been randomly thrown into the container with no rhyme or reason. The different shades of colors didn't even coordinate. There were also tulips randomly placed in the container that weren't even in the floral foam, just placed around the edges and buried under some bad greenery that looked like it came from the bottom of their water buckets. There were dead leaves, torn leaves and a single dead purple rose buried down in the center of the arrangement. I had to rearrange all the flowers, cut off the dead leaves, throw away the dead rose and trim the ends of their leftover greenery. I called, expressed my dis-satisfaction, and requested a refund, which I have not received as of today. But they sure didn't waste any time charging me the deluxe price of $90.09 for my order. So glad I can post pictures so you can see this nightmare of an arrangement. read more

No flowers were delivered until the 16th, I called over 15 times with no answers, or either going straight to voicemail or just a busy tone. I finally got a hold of someone on the 16th, the guy that answer told that someone working at the florist had a heart attack etc... TERRIBLE......Valentines Day bouquet of flowers that were disgraceful! The flowers looked like they were over 3 days old. Purple flowers were drooping with dead stems and even the daisies were bad. One completely broken off and another one bent. The lilies were past there prime and already had petals missing. I complained to the gentlemen who answered the phone and he reassured me he would send me a replacement arrangement the same day and pick up the old one. Guess what, they never arrived. I am writing an update or sequel review of my experience with Black Iris Florists. A relative had ordered a bouquet online back in April. Black Iris was the local florist that received the order. I never received the bouquet on the scheduled date, but about three weeks later. This was after my relative had made numerous requests to account for her order. When the bouquet finally arrived, it was horrible. The arrangement did not look anything like the bouquet that should have been sent, plus the flowers had begun wilting, and the notecard was a piece of paper that had been scribbled on. Moving forward, almost 3 months I received a call from Black Iris apologizing for the poor customer service and arrangement that was sent. They informed me they were going to deliver a fresh bouquet with a box of chocolates, and include a $15 coupon on any future order. The flower bouquet arrived later that day and was a hundred percent better than the original one. Out of fairness and politeness, I wanted to share this update. They took the extra effort to make things right and those actions should be recognized. I do not order flowers too often, but will definitely think carefully about using Black Iris. I would most likely go to the store and purchase something that is all ready to go, but not take chances with an online order. read more

I called them in the evening and left a message. Today (the next day) I have yet to hear back from the company. I've made numerous attempts to call their company phone number (which turns out to be a cell phone), texted and emailed them and have yet to hear a response. I did receive two unintentional phone calls from their pocket ("butt calls"). I do not recommend using this company. They do not deserve the 1 star above. Terrible Experience!! - When we politely complained they asked if my husband is military and for his commanding officer's contact!!! My wedding was scheduled for the week that a hurricane hit so I had to move the date. All of the vendors were very understanding and accommodating except for this one. They said that they had already ordered the flowers (a week ahead of time) and therefor informed me they would be charging me full price, and when I rescheduled I would pay just the cost of the flowers (a whopping $144 for 1 dozen roses and some smaller blue flowers- raw flowers do not cost that much! ). They are, after all a flower shop- hard to believe they couldn't have just been nice and just put the flowers in the shop to sell instead of charging me. (its not like the caterer charged me for the cost of all the food!) I would have even been happy to split the cost of the flowers and call it a day. However I understood, and I was satisfied enough to pay the TOTAL cost of the flowers again later ($144) and just take them home with me to enjoy. The total cost of my order was ~$275. Since I had already paid in full the $275, I asked when I could pick up the raw flowers from the shop, since I was having to pay for them anyway. They informed me that they were closing the shop that day, and probably would not be opening for another several days so I could not pick up the flowers - Even though they were making me pay for them. So basically they were telling me that they could not perform per contract because they were closing the shop for the rest of the week! At that point I asked for either a full refund since they could not perform per contract, or that I pick up the finished bouquet on Saturday per plan. So suddenly they decided that they were able to have the flowers ready for me on Saturday. When I went on Saturday they were hurrying to throw my bouquet together at the last minute. I asked for a manager and politely explained that I was not happy with my experience in that I was forced to pay the full cost of the flowers and yet had been told I could not pick them up. The managers, two men, got very defensive. He started talking about how his shop had flooded and there was nothing he could do about it. While that is very unfortunate that his shop flooded, that is not the customers fault if you cannot perform. They continued to interrupt me every time I talked, started waving his finger at me, and raising his voice. I asked him to stop pointing his finger at me. They told us that they had cameras all over. My husband was standing by quietly, and simply chimed in that we did not want to be confrontational, just wanted them to understand our grievance. The two men suddenly turned on him and asked "are you in the military?" I said "why does that matter?". We decided to leave as we didn't feel like they were listening to us at all. We felt they were being very unprofessional and beginning to be threatening in nature. We mentioned we would be writing an honest review of our experience with the company. He told us we couldn't do that and he has lawyers. As we were leaving he shouted after us "what is your commanding officer's name and number?" I am soo sad. I am on a ladies trip for Mother's Day and my husband had flowers delivered to the airbnb. The ladies and I were out for dinner last night (Saturday). I get a phone call, then a text at 10pm about a flower delivery. It was 10pm on a Saturday, I'm on vacation no I'm not at the condo. The flowers were supposed to be delivered before 7pm after my husband was told they were running behind and couldn't make the delivery in the afternoon. But that's not the biggest issue. The flowers were left behind our car in the parking garage because I wasn't there at 10pm to receive them. The flowers are dry and hideous. My girlfriends were soo shocked that someone would deliver something soo terrible. They the worst arrangement I've ever seen. My husband will be requesting a refund. I would not recommend this place. I recently received roses from a friend. The arrangement delivered looked very basic. I noticed the rose petal felt dry and the leaf petals had white spots. Not something I've seen from fresh roses given in the past. I contacted the store owner to let them know my concern. The owner todd tried to explain why the roses came out to the way it did. He said the roses come out of a bag and I can purchase a spray to make the green leafs look fresh. I told him I was bringing the flowers back to the store to show him and to fix the issue at hand himself. I informed him that the flowers from a friend was to cheer me up and I'm sure the person paying for the flowers did not want me to do the work myself. I told him the flowers did not make me smile and I asked that he fix my concerns. He brought the flowers to the back and arranged them nicer. $174 was not worth the floral arrangement or experience. The owner immediately fixed the issue but I had to remind him that presentation is a must and accountability is next. The card had the incorrect name and info on it, the flowers turned brown less than 12 hours after receiving, the flowers were missing pedals, the leaves were torn. I truly believe that positive reviews are really the only ones worth writing, but after my experience with both Todd and Jason at Black Iris Floral I feel that I need to warn everyone. My then-fiancé & I signed a contract with this company for our wedding in late March of 2018. We thought we had found a good team at a reasonable price. After the initial contract conversation, I was literally pulling teeth to have any type of communication/responsiveness with their team. I'd say for every 4 emails, they'd finally respond. We made changes and amendments to the bouquet, floral arrangements and boutonniere over the phone and email... the team assured me they had written it all done, but come the day before the wedding I had no updated contract. When I arrived for my wedding rehearsal our florals were already there. Except I thought the company must had dropped off the wrong order because what we got (fern garland with some roses) vs. what we ordered (silver-dollar eucalyptus and peonies) were sooo different. Look, I know some florals are hard to get out of season, but we never discussed fern (ps, we have family members who are actually allergic to it) and the overall vibe was entirely different than the pale blush southern wedding we were going for. Instead we got rustic with about 80 percent of the flowers they used were dead. Actually visibly brown, wilted and torn up. So again, me thinking they made a mistake I called Todd with Black Iris. Immediately he started screaming at me (literally YELLING) saying that I should be so lucky to get the arrangements they made at such a price. They "should have charged me so much more," and then he refused to rectify the situation and ended up HANGING UP ON ME. My planner called an hour later and had the same experience: rude remarks, no customer service and no accountability. We did get a full refund (a month later), but the unnecessary stress this bride dealt with & rude remarks is a warning to all. read more

If there was a way I could give zero stars, I would. My wife ordered flowers for my mom's birthday and she was given the wrong arrangement. They were not even close to what my wife had ordered. My wife called to get them fixed and was given attitude. Was told they could fix the next day. When asked if she could get money back was told no. I took the flowers up myself to see what I could do. I stayed calm with the employees but was given attitude once I asked if they could be fixed. Was told they didn't have any blue flowers but yet the guy went looking and found one of the flowers that was supposed to be in the original arrangement. They are liars and jerks. I absolutely, with out a doubt would hire Todd and his team over and over again! They do phenomenal work and are one of the best in this area ... hands down! Hire them if you want your event to be beautiful. Don't hire them because you think you know better then them and well ... good luck! Exquisite work!
