Good gym to get your fix. Plenty of weights and people actually rack their weights. Staff is very professional.

This place was everything I needed exactly when I needed it. I came here looking for programmed workouts and a change to my routine. I ended up getting highly skilled coaching, programming and a community of people that make me feel welcome. Whether you're a first time crossfitter, a seasoned veteran, a drop-in just passing through or a 60 year old who has never worked out before and feel it's time... you've got a place here. This place really embodies the statement: "CrossFit isn't for everyone, but it is for anyone."

After moving to CHS I tried a handful of different things and just never found the right fit for me. After baby #2 I wanted to try again... AOCF was running a challenge, 6 weeks of clean eating and at least 16 classes, setting goals, etc. I decided to go for it, a challenge is right up my alley and I knew the accountability would be good. Here's the thing, the places that left me feeling like it wasn't quite what I was looking for sometimes felt thrown together with classes (like 15 minutes of a body weight workout... if I'm coming for an hour class, I want to use that full hour and get the most out of my time). Also, I want good coaching... Kelly and Megan are awesome with this. And I found myself missing the community that I had built over time with CFA, AOCF has a really fun group of people and they are intentional about building community. So, I ended up being able to do a little over 5 weeks of the challenge (before going out of town for a bit). I dropped 17lbs and not only did my time get a lot better with the workout, but I can feel the changes, I feel better. I'm looking forward to continuing with AOCF and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to someone else!

The trainers are motivating, and the community is very friendly and encouraging. It's worth noting that most of the members are women -- mainly middle-aged -- so men might feel a little outnumbered, but everyone is welcoming and focused on fitness. Overall, it's a great place to get in shape and be part of a positive, goal-oriented group!

I never in a million years would have expected to fall in love with working out, in a boot camp environment especially, but I have become obsessed with Burn. The trainer at this locations's name is Amos and he really is amazing. He is not at all what you would expect a trainer would be like at a boot camp. Amos is 100% encouraging, positive, and helpful while finding the perfect spot that pushes you to your limits. I have seen him modify these work outs for people with a wide variety of injuries so that every workout can be done by every person. Each workout every week (open 6 days a week) focuses on a different area of your body to target and is planned so that you can participate for most days even if you are sore. Burn is only 45 minutes but it is incredibly fast paced and before you know it, it's over and so is your workout time for the day! Burn focuses on the training of women but there are a few co-ed classes. They also have a free Saturday class if you are wanting to give it a try. They also offer free childcare for parents! They are usually running specials for people who want to try out Burn without fully committing such as a free two week trial as well as 8 week programs for discounted prices. Just go check this place out and see why everyone loves feeling the burn!!!!

Because it's only 30-minutes, it's convenient to get to 6-days a week- in and out. Closed Sunday. Location? Town Center, Mt. Pleasant by Lowe's. Plenty of parking, convenient location. Amazing people- down to earth. Men and women, ages teens to 70s. Go at your own pace. Starting out I did a 6-week challenge for $67- great deal- where I lost weight and toned up almost immediately. It's a lot of body weight exercises, but also weights, the ropes, TRX, kettle bells, medicine balls, ....as great music plays you go station to station, they just tell you what to do. I need that- I tried planet fitness and mostly went tanning there- ha! I was tired of watching tv on a treadmill. I started to crave the FBBC workout every day. I joined for $157/month. It was a good investment, and I also went every day because I wanted to know it was money well spent. Results were comprehensive. I slept the best I've ever slept, had the energy to keep up- no- set a new, faster pace of life. Social environment- you start seeing the same people every day so you make acquaintances. The trainers know your name, play great music, host social events like beach workout followed by Mex 1 on Sullivan's Island every few Saturdays in the summer. They frequently run additional challenges to kick it up a notch. We fund raise for different charities, set goals as a group and are called the FitFam. I don't do social media, but joined their private group on Facebook which Daniel updates frequently, daily, so you stay tuned. It really becomes your lifestyle. The wellness improvement of my mind was the best part. - its a lifestyle, you challenge yourself, have fun. And only 30 min meant I could go on my lunch break and not be too sweaty going back to work. There are no showers, no locker rooms, no childcare - no bells and whistles and I realized you don't need those things. The bathrooms are large and clean enough to change, you set your stuff on a bench, and many people bring their (well-behaved) kids (in the car seat or to sit and cheer you on on the sidelines.) It's another good thing about 30 min. You can get your child to sit still for a half hour much easier than 45-60. I have nothing but good things to say. If you balk at the price, I hope I explained why I think it's worth it. Because it works - proof is in the pudding.

I was intimidated to go at first because I had never worked with a trainer before, much less work out at a gym. My trainer, Tina, is awesome! She is very knowledgeable about fitness and nutrition. She changes up the workouts each time so that you don't get bored. She is encouraging, motivates me and actually makes the workouts fun. I used to hate working out, but now I find myself excited to go! All of the trainers there are very friendly. I like Tina because she pushes me just the right amount, without being overbearing or yelling at me. In one month I lost an inch and a half off of each thigh! 6 months later I am still going and tell everyone I know that they should try reform too! I also love that it is one-on-one training, not a big gym full of people staring at me!

I didn't like going to the gym because I would just sort of wander around and try and figure out what I should do. Burn is made up of "camps" which is what they call their classes. There are multiple camps throughout the day. Each one is 45 minutes long with a warm up, workout, and finisher, with a few minutes at the end to cool down and stretch. Each one is led by a certified trainer. You will get the group experience, while also getting some one-on-one within the camp to make sure you are doing the exercises correctly. They can easily modify exercises on the spot for different fitness levels, or if you have an injury that you need to be careful of. They also offer one-on-one meetings with a trainer to take measurements, discuss progress, and advise on nutrition and activity. Burn offers complimentary childcare as well during most of their camp times, and a couple of times (I believe the 8:30 and 9:30am camps) are for women only, for those who are more comfortable in that atmosphere. If you are a member at any Burn Boot Camp location, you can go and visit any other location at any time, and your membership gives you unlimited camps, so you can go more than once in a day, or all 6 days a week, or whatever you like! Burn is very community-oriented and you really feel like you are building a community with the people you workout alongside in the camps. People who meet at Burn become friends outside of the gym, and there is always a sense of camaraderie. Everyone goes above and beyond here. They are also taking many precautions when it comes to Covid. Camps are limited in number and are operated on a basis of signing up ahead of time. After the sign-ups it is a first-come first-served sort of thing. They have marked off spaces on the floor so that everyone is distanced during the workout and they are spraying a heavy-duty sanitizer on the floor and all equipment between every camp. I can't recommend Burn Boot Camp in general any higher, and would most highly recommend the North Charleston location!

After relocating to Johns Island, I needed a new place to work out. This was the first, and last gym that I toured. It's immediately apparent after walking in that cleanliness and friendliness are two of the top priorities of this facility. The equipment is incredibly varied and you should be able to find everything you need for a good workout. When you enter there is a small table and sitting area to the left where you can sign up for a membership or chill out. The gym offers a wide open space with really good distancing in between machines so it never feels too crowded. The back of the gym has a small area with cubbies where you can leave your bags, personal items, and anything you don't want to carry around with you. The entire facility is accessed through a key fob and their are security cameras scattered throughout the building. You really don't get the feeling that anyone is going to steal anything because of the community vibe of the gym. There are bathrooms and showers on site for gym members, and a small refrigerator with drinks that uses the honor system for payment. WIFI is available and the connection has been great from all corners of the gym. Most notably, the staff and trainers always have positive attitudes and say hello when you walk in. A special shout out to Mackenzie for always helping out members when it's needed and for always having an infectious smile that makes you feel welcome. If you're looking for a new gym in the Johns Island area, they offer a free trial day so you can see what it's like for yourself!
