I got a nice vanilla candle and a Sharpie...all for $4.75 (reduced price since I am a Rewards Member), so I ended up getting both items for FREE. The staff is usually not around.....on the floor, as most people do their own shopping and take their time deciding what to get. There was one cash register open. This store like all other Michael's has everything for craft work as well as art supplies...think fabric, canvases, yarn, knitting & crochet supplies, frames, scrapbook materials, beads, jewelry kits, Cricut, craft machines, etc...they have it. I love their scented candles, which usually are on sale and can be purchased for less than $5. Their school and office supplies section was large and well stocked as well.

Shelfs and items are not always priced. The stores do not have enough personnel to check pricing. With the closing of a competitor (Joannes) you would think this would be great for increased business for Michaels instead you are losing my business and a few of my friends. Such a disappointment. Ps the internet reception is very weak in the stores to check pricing myself. My opinion is you have done a disservice to the customer!

I was skeptical but as I had a couple of hours to kill before an event at the United Theater I had nothing to lose by stopping in. I was shocked, shocked I tell you, to discover what a find this gallery was. I love art, museums, and galleries, and this was well worth my time. There are several rooms of art ranging from jewelry to glassware, pottery, prints, paintings and more. I had no intention of buying anything and I was tempted by the paintings, most of which were in my price range, but succumbed to a gorgeous bracelet, a charming bowl, and a set of wine glasses (all shown below). The person at the front desk greeted me but then let me roam to my heart's content. When I checked out she explained that the gallery rotated its items on a monthly basis (I think that's what she said). I spent an hour there appreciating every one of the items on display; the prices varied so you are sure to find something there at your price point. There was also a special small exhibit featuring African American artists, which I very much appreciated as an African-American myself. This gallery is a hidden gem. One more reason for me to return to the town of Westerly soon, and I am sure not to leave empty-handed!

According to the posting on the front door, they are open on Wednesdays. Today, we checked the website and and verified the hours they were open as well as Google indicated they were open. We drove all the way to Westerly only to find the place closed up tight. No where did it say they were going to be closed today. We are very disappointed in the lack of communications as to their actual hours. The only avenue we did not exercise was to make a telephone call to verify they would be open. Lesson learned on our part. If they cannot adequately advertise the hours they will be open, they should at least tell people who visit their website, to CALL FIRST; before showing up to closed doors. We gave this place every opportunity but we will not bother going back. If their communication skills are any indication of how the place is managed, I do not think it is worth our while to visit. I am thinking they are closed because there is nothing on Exhibit. The walls were vacant. If there is nothing on Exhibit and you take the time to announce the next Exhibit on your website, you might want to inform potential visitors that the Gallery is CLOSED between Exhibits. Most reputable art galleries have rotating exhibits. This allows the Gallery to be open daily and a variety of artists to display on a rotating basis. We are very disappointed but thanks for an important lesson. Trust no one without a call first.

Do NOT use this photographer. He is unethical and fraudulent in his interactions with his…read morecustomers. Here are the details of my experience: 1. He made me pay IN FULL in advance of the photo shoot (which BTW is not common practice) but I agreed to do so. He quoted me a price of $200 for an hour session and $155 for all of the digital files with some of them retouched. He then charged me a "non cash" fee as well (even though I had not other payment options, but I chalked that one up since it was only $15. Then he arrived to the photo shoot location (Watch Hill gazeebo) at the time he suggested would be the best lighting. He had a simple little camera with him, no lighting or shades or any other equipment. He was chatty (this was not a problem) but he kept saying that he could make just about any picture good and not to worry, he was a master at retouching and photoshop. He mentioned several times that the lighting was bad, but not to worry. He worked the full hour and told me he would have the photos ready for pick up in 2 days. When I went to pick them up was when the really shady behavior started. He showed me the pictures (really quickly) and I didn't get a good look until later. He then told me I owed him an ADDITIONAL $100 dollars. Keep in mind I had a receipt and an email from him saying what I had paid for and what that entailed. He said I must have misunderstood!! I tried to give him the benefit of the doubt, so I asked to see a written pricing sheet. He of course did not have one. Then I showed him the email that he had personally send me detailing what I had paid for, and he changed his story again. He said that his assistant had made a mistake in charging me. Please note this was clearly not the kind of establishment that had an assistant. His shop was a cluttered mess of frames and pictures and overall junk. This was another lie to get more money out of me after I had already paid. The problem was, he has all the power in this situation as he was holding my pictures hostage. I tried to politely reason with him and finally because I had no other choice we "split the difference." I paid him an additional $50 plus a fee to purchase a flash drive since the agreement had only included a CD. This is not only unethical and immoral behavior but it violated our written and verbal contract. I have contacted the better business bureau about this as I do NOT want other customers defrauded by this company as I was. I also plan to contest this charge with my credit card company. But here is the WORST part. The phots were TERRIBLE. I might have let all of this go if I had walked away with beautiful memories of my extended family, but that is NOT what I got. I got amateur snap shots with cars and random people in the background. I was at one of the prettiest spots in RI and there are no usable pictures with the marina or water in the background. Many of the pictures are simply over exposed or out of focus. The best ones look like OK snap shots taken on a phone. Not a single one looks like a professional took them. Some are grainy and many have huge rays of light and shadows on the faces of my family members. He clearly did not retouch a single photo from the shoot, which just made me even more angry. Then as I was exiting (before I even knew how bad all these were) he mentioned that he could photoshop them for me at $50/hour additional. So you're telling me that I paid a fortune for images that I can't use, they are such poor quality I can't print them and they have cars in many of them in the background and if I want them attempted to be fixed I need to pay him more $$$. UNREAL!! I spent lots of money on this shoot, I bought new dresses for my daughter, I had my hair and makeup done, and i was utterly and completely disappointed and felt cheated and swindled on top of it. Now you might think - she's over reacting, but the pictures are so bad and unusable that I have hired another photographer to re-do them. This shoot had a lot of personal meaning to me, given I almost died in surgery a year ago and I wanted to celebrate life through these images with my family and Granite Photo and Stephen ruined it for me after I over-paid. Please do not fall into the same trap as I did. Find a different photographer and do not support businesses who defraud their customers!!

I learned that this business had the distinction of being the oldest framing shop in the country dating back to the early 1900's and has remained a family run local business during this time. (Wow! That's impressive!) Initially based out of the Arcade in Downcity Providence, they moved to this location in the 1970's and have continued to expand over time. What you will find today are three massive floors filled with artwork, prints, drawings, ceramics, etc from great local artists in addition to their large framing area. They can handle all types of projects small or large and provide service and support both locally and out of state. They boast quality craftsmanship, lifetime guarantees on their work, and prices that are comparable to what you'd find from the big box chains that offer framing services (no coupon needed!) The difference is the years of knowledge and experience you get when choosing Providence Picture Frame as well as the good feeling you get knowing that you are helping a long time family run store stay in business for future generations. You'll also find friendly employees who care passionately about their business, their community, and helping the customer get exactly what they are looking for. Pro tips: Consider shopping in their gallery for unique and special birthday or holiday gifts. Not sure how to display that special photo, artwork, or sentimental item? Stop by to talk to them about their custom framing ideas and to preserve your one of a kind item for a lifetime.
