We drove 7 hours round trip for the Black Bison Pub. It is worth it! I first came to Syracuse a few years ago for a funeral detail as a member of the honor guard. This is where we ate and I couldn't stop thinking about the amazing steak I had. So now, two years later, my husband and I decided to make the drive from Colorado Springs to eat here again. It was just as amazing as I remembered. I got the filet mignon and husband had the ribeye. It was cooked perfectly. The salad bar is amazing and the hubby loved the coleslaw especially. You get a great amount of food for the price, too. Love this place, just wish we lived closer. Thank you Black Bison Pub!

Reviews really do make a difference... after deciding to stop for lunch along Hwy 50, we checked to see what was around... we'd have missed this place, and an excellent lunch if we hadn't checked reviews... Anyway, I got Mimi's York Fries which were a carbo-loaded protein-topped pile of goodness... fresh cut potatoes fried just right with "secret sauce," cheese bacon, and nice tender steak pieces... I asked for sour cream on the side just to add a little bit of coolness, but then I roll that way... Hubby got the lunch special which was a Sloppy Joe's sandwich with a pile of chips. He said "they couldn't have done any better" with the sandwich which is impressive coming from him. Prices were reasonable, staff was VERY friendly despite the large lunch crowd and accommodating to changes in the order. If you're on Hwy 50 and need a break for lunch, or dinner, I'd definitely stop here... just wish it wasn't halfway across the country so I could try more of their menu...!

Cool atmosphere, friendly staff. I had the Sriracha burger. It was so tasty. And the bun was really good and it held up to the 1/2 pound patty.

Amazing!! We stopped in here for breakfast and started out with a spicy bloody Mary. It was amazing! I chose the egg white omelette with jalapeños tomatoes and mushrooms and added on the jalapeño cornbread. My husband had the working man's breakfast. We will definitely be back!

My family and I had the pleasure of stopping in for lunch today and you did not disappoint. All five of us had something different and all five of us enjoyed our meal. This is a great place in a small town with friendly service. If you're traveling through Syracuse make it a point to stop at this great restaurant. Thanks for a great meal! read more

We have enjoyed bringing several different couples to your pub. We enjoy the food, variety of drinks and beers available, and the atmosphere is great! My only complaint is the waitress we have gotten each time we have been there. It feels like it is a burden for her to wait on us! I get it that she doesn't drink alcohol!! Any good waitress would learn about everything that she serves. There is no excuse for not knowing what kinds of beer you have in stock or what the specialty drinks are made of. She should be able to make recommendations by what her other customers have enjoyed or disliked! I was actually embarrassed by her comments to my guests when they asked her questions....If we don't come back....she would be the reason. read more

History

Established in 2013.

The Black Bison Pub was established by Matthew Gould in 2013. He designed it, built it and established it as a successful restaurant and bar. In 2016, Tommy and Janet purchased the restaurant expanding the menu to include Steaks. The Loft, located upstairs is a true hidden gem in Southwest Kansas. It is available to rent by the night and features 3 bedrooms, all leather furniture, pool table, kitchenette, dinette and laundry facilities. The original wood floors of the building and pictures taken by Matthew Gould add to the elegance of The Loft. The basement of the Black Bison has 2 pool tables, ping pong, juke box and room for parties. It is rented for parties and gatherings of all kinds.

Tommy loves to cook. His passion is great steaks and wonderful pies. He hand cuts every Ribeye, and KC Strip Steak that is served at the Bison. He also makes fresh pies weekly. They are not only beautiful to look at but wonderful to eat!

Great food! Clean and prompt service. Their cocktails are amazing they can make anything you want with their fully stocked bar. No draft beers but lots of bottled choices. Steaks and burgers are their specialty but lots of different options to choose from if you're not in the mood. Best ribeye I have ever had read more
