Really quick and easy to pick up a bike here. Not my favourite branch, but they were very helpful with fast and friendly service.
We had an issue with the bike we rented - they fixed it immediately.

This is by far the easiest and most carefree way of travelling the city... and it's a delightful experience. Amsterdam bikes are heavy, solid and ride like a dream. There's literally nothing that will make you feel like a local than taking one of these babies for a ride!
I usually pick mine up from Black Bikes. It's quick, pain free, and you can return to a different location (they have 13 locations across the city).
I'v never tried another company, the service I've got from this company has been outstanding so I've never felt the need to try another!
They require a credit card, and will happily extend the booking if you'd like to do a bit more sight seeing.
You have two choices, the 'fixie' or the brake bike. The fixie, which is the cheaper option, requires you to back peddle to stop, and can be a little difficult to get the hang of if you're used to a geared / brake version. If you're unfamiliar and brave, I would suggest if you're not familiar to have a go, but be careful about stopping on hills, it's hard to start. Also remember whilst this is a relaxed way to traverse the city, cycling is the mainstream and you need to be on your toes to avoid the other bikes and previous mentioned impaired tourists.
So if you're not confident - get a bike with brakes.
Other things to note - please always lick your bike, don't loose your keys, learn how to ring that bell, and don't try and carry it - it weighs a ton! read more
