Our group ride for the Winter Light Art Bike Tour turned into a private tour with William, since we were the only two to sign up. William is a terrific guide, he started us off by giving us instruction to ride safely here in Amsterdam. He is also a wealth of knowledge on the artists, their work and local sights too. William shared information on Amsterdam's history - which we truly appreciated. We enjoyed a nice break with gluewein on the art bench, that was created to encourage friendship among strangers. My partner and I went on Yellow Bike's 4 hour country side tour while visiting. After having done it, I think the best word I could use to describe the entire experience is underwhelming. The country side area was great and very beautiful. We saw one windmill and were able to ride through a few small towns. In between the two hours we got lunch at this place that served traditional Dutch food. Our tour guide didn't seem to be very knowledgeable on the history of all of what we saw. She gave us a few facts but it seemed like her main focus was to takes us through the countryside so we wouldn't get lost, but I honestly could have done that myself for a way cheaper price. The guide didn't stop as often as I would have hoped. One of the participants had to ask her to stop a few times so we could get photos. We would ride for pretty long periods of time so if you're not fit to do that, I'd think about going for one of their other tours that are a bit shorter. Overall, I was disappointed by the tour component. Countryside was great. I'd recommend making your way out if you have time while in Amsterdam. read more

My husband and I rented bikes for 24 hours for 12 euros each-- great deal! Best way to see and experience Amsterdam is definitely on bikes. Yellow Bike was a 2-3 minute walk from our hotel. It's very close to the main street so super easy to find. The guys working there were very nice and made things very quick and seamless. You either need to bring your passport and 50 euros deposit or credit card (Note: They do NOT take American Express). You need to leave your ID with them until you return your bikes. If I remember correctly, they close at 5:30pm so make sure to return your bike on time. They give you 2 locks with each bike with the option of daily insurance (I think it was 2-3 euros for insurance so its very reasonable). They also gave us a biking specific map of the city. We didn't end up using it so much-- as Amsterdam is such a bike friendly city, we just rode around and went where the roads took us. I highly recommend using this company. They're nice, centrally located, and no complaints at all. read more

Taking a bike tour is a great way to experience a city without having to worry about directions. You get an introduction and orientation of the city, and in the case with Amsterdam ride along with all the locals. How can you be in Amsterdam without riding a bike, right? We reserved a tour, arrived early and was put into our respective group. Our group was small, and the bikes were in great condition. We rode through central Amsterdam and stopped at various points of interest. Our guide provided a lot of great information about the history of the city as well as made sure we were safe and not left behind. I definitely recommend Yellow Bike! read more

We took the "Countryside Tour" today with Yellow Bike. It was a fantastic experience in every respect. The tour operators were polite and efficient, and the tour was reasonably priced, a bargain for what we saw and experienced. Our female guide, Joah, was delightful. Explained where we would be going, what to look for, with history and stories a long the way. Nice stop for a light lunch in a charming village. The beauty of the countryside and villages we saw could only be experienced thru a tour like this. Recommend highly. read more

As frequent visitors to Amsterdam and avid bicyclists, we've done lots of bike rentals and tours. Normally can't say enough great things. Not this time. Yellow bike was so bad that we left the tour early. The guide was rude and resentful, the bikes were the worst we'd experienced in renting. read more

Rowan is a fantastic guide, the ride was very pleasant and relaxing, Had a toasti and beer in a small village which made the trip most enjoyable. 2 hour tour, well worth the money for a pleasant casual journey through AMS. Tour guide Robert was very knowledgable and provided very interesting insight based on his experience as a political science major. A few group member from India were very unsure on their biking skills and perhaps should not have attended. I'd recommend this tour as long as you know how to ride a bike. A friend and I knew that Amsterdam is best explored by bicycle, so we were hoping to rent bikes for the day. We then heard that Yellow Bike also gave bike tours, and people recommended it pretty highly. The price was reasonable (€24 for a 3 hour bike tour), so we figured we'd give it a shot. It was a great decision. We had an incredibly friendly and well spoken tour guide named Karel, who was born and raised in Amsterdam, so he was very knowledgeable about the city. He was detailed, informative, funny, entertaining, and overall just a good bike tour leader (was careful to never lose any stragglers, always warned us about upcoming tricky sections of the ride, etc.). We saw a hugeee amount of the city and learned a lot too. It was much more enjoyable than we imagine the free walking tour being, so definitely do consider a bike tour if you can afford it. read more

We (2 adults, one 17 year old, and a 10 year old) took the 4 hour countryside tour today. It was a wonderful experience for all. The kids were moaning and groaning in advance of the ride and both of them repeatedly expressed how much they enjoyed it after the fact. Given the flat geography of Amsterdam, there is no terrain to conquer. But you do get the excitement of riding for a few minutes in the heart of Amsterdam (don't mess with a Dutch cyclist!), and then continue on in the beautiful countryside, only minutes from central Amsterdam. We were all appropriately outfitted with bikes, and our tour guide was friendly, funny and informative. After about two hours of riding, there is a 45 minute stop for lunch (you need to bring cash to pay) and then the ride back is easy. Yes, you do get to see one of the few remaining windmills in the area. It was a very enjoyable day! read more

Not the best bike tour I've done, but Amsterdam should be experienced on bike, and this is probably the easiest way to do it. They take you around a fair bit of the city, which is quite bikeable. You stop at a bar and get a warm beverage. Our tour guide, Jelte, gave out a good bit of information. They were only offering 2 hour tours, while the pamphlet claimed that there was a 3 hour tour. read more

This is a friendly inexpensive convenient and uncrowded place to rent bikes. We rented six - one person turned around after an hour because he didn't like the foot brake model and they didn't charge him at all. The rest of us had complications in returning the bikes and Yellow Bike were very friendly and accommodating. Ask for Rick. He'll take good care of you. read more

I paid $34 USD for a 3 hour tour in English. My guide spoke very little English. Would have liked to learn a little bit more about Amsterdam. On several occasions we crossed multiple lanes of traffic, where several inexperienced bicycle riders almost got hit by cars and bicycles. Multiple times yellow bike tourists crashed into each other. Very unsafe routes. The tour was approximately 2 1/4 hours by the time we started (15 mins) late and ended (30 mins) early. Should maybe consider having an advanced and beginners groups. And hiring English speakers for English tours. Also, advertising 2 1/4 hour tours if you're going to cut the 3 hour one short. Try another tour. read more

Awful experience. Cheap bikes with no ability to change gears. You have to pedal backwards to brake. The bike was very unstable. The tour itself is mediocre at best. There are much better companies in Amsterdam for renting bikes and/or tours. read more

I will give yellow bike one star because I can not give zero or negative stars. The two hour tour took us to some places of interest but the information that was given was average. You could barely hear the guide even when she was in front of you. We felt rushed for the end of the trip. Part of our group was left behind and lost. Lucky for us my wife had her phone to call and have someone come and find her and the others. Guide had no idea what was going on. My seat broke half way through the trip and I could not get her attention. DO NOT take this trip! read more

Awesome bikes, friendly staff, great prices. I rented two bikes for a few hours. Had to keep them overnight as I didn't make it back by closing time. Thought I would have to pay an arm and a leg for it but our total came out to only 27 euros. Highly recommended. read more
