Never thought I'd have a beer at BK
Matt C.

At the end of the day, it's still Burger King. To my fellow coworker, William Rutherford Borland, I do not understand for the life of me how you can give this place 5 stars. Is it a Birmingham thing? Is it an inebriated thing? I'll never know. The crowning achievement of the BK Whopper Bar in the heart of South Beach is that it serves beer. Not going to lie, it's pretty freakin' cool! Fast food and a cold one? Deep down, it's what most of us all want. However, it's not what this guy wants. I do not frequent fast food chains anymore except for occasional situations like these. BK was always one of the lesser chains in my opinion. Did it hit the spot? Well, yeah. Again, I can't tell a lie. Cold hard facts: they were out of the beer I wanted, although they have a few options on hand. The line was fairly long. The wait for the food was reasonable. The outdoor patio was nice for a breezy Miami day. And the food was, well, I don't really remember. Slightly gross, slightly greasy, slightly satisfying. We had fun shooting the breeze outside, and that's where the finish line is for me. If you ever wanted to cross off "drinking a beer at a BK" from your bucket list then I guess this is your mecca. It's just not for me. #shrug

If you have ever read my reviews before, I like to compare major chains/similar restaurants to one another as opposed to comparing them to Michelin Star joints. It is not fair to compare a BK to a James Beard award winning restaurant. So I won't do it. When it comes to the Whopper Bar, I will not only compare it to other BKs. But to all fast food restaurants around. It doesn't hurt that this trip was kicked off by starting a podcast discussing the history of BK vs McDs. It made me feel for this Miami based chain. But then you put me on the beach for a few hours sipping beverages with little access to food... and this whopper was game changing. I will try and keep a focused eye despite those extenuating circumstances. But the fact remains: fast food burger with a buzz and access to a beer equals five stars no matter how you slice it. Despite our group being anti-social and separating themselves from us at a different table, I had a great meal. I got a beer, a burger, and some fries when it was most needed. It makes me wonder why all fast food restaurants with heavy foot traffic don't take on this concept. The crowd was big, but the staff did a good job moving people along. There was plenty of seating and a functional bathroom. Pair that with the other needs that this BK filled, and you have a likely unmerited 5 stars. But in my mind, it was exactly what I needed when I needed it.

Can someone explain me what is this?

I had an experience in this establishment that I could not put into words. I was embarrassed and robed out of my money by a person that was called the district manager for Burger King. They gave me the wrong order, one of the sandwiches looked like a cross of a burger and a breakfast sandwich. When I asked for the order to be completed correctly I was told to leave or the cops will be called to arrest me. Did not gave me my order or my cash. I will make sure that anyone doesn't experience the embarrassment I did. I fought for the military and will not lay down to people that refuse to treat people with respect .

If I'm in Miami, and I've been drinking (which is always the case) I usually somehow end up at the BK Whopper Bar. Why? Because I make terrible decisions in life. The bad part about this place- dealing with all the other drunks in line before you. Slows up the entire process. Also, this isn't the cleanest spot mainly because said drunks don't clean up after themselves. The cool part, if there is a "cool" aspect to Burger King is that they have a "bar" there and you can order beer. Nothing is more American and a Whopper and a beer. I've never had an issue with my food and from what I remember, my fries have always been hot. I've never noticed where they keep the ketchup though! You must have to ask them for that. Oh well, I'm sure we will be meeting again soon, BK and I will enjoy every heavily caloric bite.

Beer selection

When I was here three years ago, I was able to have a Coors Light with my Whopper meal. I was here again last week. This time, however, the only light beer they offered was Miller Lite. I'm usually not picky when it comes to the brand of light beer (as my aforementioned selection of Coors Light would suggest), but I don't like Miller Lite. So I had a bottle of Miller Draft instead. I enjoyed my chicken sandwich and fries. They were both salty and so went well with the brew. But, although they have a good selection of non-light beers, this Whopper Bar really needs to add more types of light beer.

First time going here. All the tables were covered with crumbs... all nasty weren't cleaned yet..

Menu items and you can add a beer to your meal!

Came here while in Miami Beach with my friend to grab a quick bite. The store was rather small and we left before we could place our order due to an irrational customer. The staff and manager handled the situation rather well, but l was just not in the mood for Burger King any more. One thing l must say is that you can order beer and wine here with your Whopper. Not a bad deal!

Okay it's just Burger King y'all!!! We initially stopped here just to use the restroom but something about walking into an air conditioned environment after being in the sun all day. Not to mention that familiar aroma of char grilled burgers. Adding some solid food to our diet was just what some of the guys needed!!!! LOL!!! Now normally I would've been in and out of here I would've forgotten to check in but what made me stop was the drink selection. Can someone tell me when BK started selling BEER???!!!!!!! I had to share this with he YELP WORLD!!!! Carlos and Tremaine said the burgers were reminiscent of yesterday, but this ain't the BK I remember as a kid! I like the new BK!!!!

Prices are par of the course on Ocean Drive, take that as you may. They also have the 20 percent automatic tip and a prompt to add more. I ordered a glass of Cab Sab to avoid a cocktail that's more mixer than alcohol and that was actually pretty good. The wine was nice and full bodied. Next up was my $26 Americano Burger with fries. The fries were nice and crispy, and I had them with more than a couple of the little packs that reminded me of elementary school instead of a squeeze bottle like I'm used to from other restaurants. I asked for bbq sauce to dip the fries, and got it after I was done with the fries so I used it instead with the burger. I asked for said burger with no pickles and medium well. While the temperature of the burger was as requested, the burger was overly salty and the American cheese seemed like the squeezable "cheese whiz" type. Also guess what offensive condiment was in the bottom bun? Yes the pickles! While I started to eat the burger keto style (without the bun) I left most of it. While the waitress said she had put the order as no pickle, maybe the kitchen messed up my request.

Everyone seemed to be playing. We arrived to late to join. The place was packed yet there were only two servers. Our server was running around like a chicken with her head cut off. However she managed to keep up with out party of 9. There were times we were waiting for assistance however we could see she wasn't just sitting on her ass. We order burgers, flat breads, tenders and steak tacos. Steak tacos were horrible Burgers were delicious Flatbread were good Tenders definitely looked like they were frozen tenders from the grocer. The beverages were nice not too strong but not weak. We were kinda profiled however as a black person you get use to it. My husband and brother stepped out for a smoke break..although everyone else was still seated at the table. We watched security run out after them. We laughed cause they looked stupid. When security ran out there they pretended to be looking at something when they noticed they guys were right outside the door. Irish pub we didn't expect any less. However it was kinds funny how the guy darted out after them then aimlessly looked around after he realized they were smoking a cigarette ‍

I realized that I had not actually been to this location since it was The Playwright (or whatever it was called) 4 or 5 years ago. The updated interior is nice - very "pubby" - and they offer a good variety of seating from bar seats to high-tops to couches. Two things here that were standouts: First, the burger is one of the best burgers I've had on South Beach. So much so that I'm craving it again this morning. They've done a good job with the menu in that it still has all those bar foods that you look for in a place like this, but they've put some thought into elevating a number of items (e.g. the short rib poutine!) Second, the service was great. Our server (sorry, can't remember his name - a nice guy from Kendall) was very friendly and provided excellent service. As many reviews mention, this is definitely a place to watch a game. While we weren't there for this purpose last night, the TV setup is great and I could def see myself camping out there with a few beers on a weekend afternoon. As someone who lives in the neighborhood, I'll be back again for sure.

Great nostalgia and drinks but their gratuity practice is a serious problem…read more I stopped by Wet Willie's out of nostalgia during my most recent visit. Years ago I'd come here after the beach, sit on the balcony, people-watch, and cool off with a strong, frozen drink. In that sense, the place is exactly as I remember, with cold drinks on a hot Miami day and a fun atmosphere. Unfortunately, the billing experience completely changed how I felt about our visit. When the check arrived, I noticed the suggested tip percentages were unusual (around 7%, 8%, and 9%). I was planning to leave my normal 20% tip, but then the gentleman behind the bar explained that a 15% gratuity had already been added and the listed percentages would be additional. To be clear: I always tip, and I generally tip well. But adding a gratuity without authorization or clearly disclosing it up front is a big deal. A tip is supposed to be voluntary, and quietly including one, especially in a setting where you're already prompted to add more, feels misleading and wildly inappropriate. That part honestly overshadowed the visit for me. The drinks and the memories are still there, but check your bill carefully before paying. I enjoyed the nostalgia, yet this practice alone makes me hesitant to return. This practice of discretely tipping themselves is borderline theft.

I have been going here for years. It's always been a great place to hang out and have some drinks…read more Nice cool atmosphere located in South Beach. Service was outstanding.
